sir i have a doubt.. u told both group 15 and group 13 have valancy 3. then y 15th group elements are called pentavalent ? is it because of their outermost shell contains 5 electrons?

15th group elements are called pentavalent because they have 5 electrons in their outermost shell. But valency is the combining capacity of atoms and therefore their valency is 3.
