Pedro Pascal and David Harbour act as father figures to Bella Ramsey and Millie Bobby Brown, both on and off screen, which makes Leonardo's tendancy to date younger women all the more uncomfortable.
Not just younger women, the latest one is seriously just 19 like these girls playing daughters of men that are Leo's age. I think we need to talk about the sexualization of teen girls in general, even pre teens, I grew up with a lot of toxic messaging about dating older guys, sexualizing myself for their convenience very early, making myself dependent on male approval and attention, that was in the 90s and I hope the newer generations will succeed in reclaiming the female adolescence as a protected time, my childhood ended way too early and I could have used more time to find and define myself without the intrusion and trauma of early sexualization.
The fact of Leo being a playboy bachelor in his late forties would be a lot more palpable if he was having flings with more age-appropriate women. It’s the fact that he seems to dump them the second their prefrontal cortex is fully developed that skeeves people out, much more than his perennial bachelor life.
Exactly! There’s nothing wrong with not wanting to get married, but when your girlfriends get younger as you grow older, it’s like did you not grow up, do they make you feel young or do you enjoy the power inbalance?
@@hippolyte90 For some men they really just want to feel young and older women don't necessarily give that young vibe off. Some people want to be immature forever, and if they don't have a family they're not hurting too many people as long as their nice and, well, don't hurt people. Some people like Leo may be in the position of dating women younger than they want to, because they can't find women any older than that who want to live the 20's lifestyle. Leo does seem to have some mental issues. He struggles with OCD. According to how he acts, he may have some existential dread and fear death too, which can certainly drive someone to want to find live in more youthful people. He may be a sort of vampire metaphorically. As long as he's not hurting anyone, maybe he's getting what he wants more or less. And due to his issues, he wouldn't be very successful at raising a family.
I disagree with The Take’s take on Sylvester Stallone not playing sensitive characters. His most well known character Rocky was very kind, loving, and sensitive as well as being strong, tough, and masculine.
But I do see what they mean outside of Rocky. Rambo, his other iconic role, is in a lot of ways the opposite of Rocky. Though it is telling that Stallone actually wrote Rocky but not Rambo.
I was gonna say, George being as nekid as he was must have been a lot of people's thing. Rick is also another major one. My personal favorite will always be his character from Bedazzled because I actually enjoy that movie! So happy he got a Golden Globe this year, Hollywood was always sleeping on him imho
Can't forget Encino Man. He has a new show out with Tom Welling on the CW, Professionals. It's good so far, and as usual, the charisma just oozes off him.
I mean... In all fairness to George Clooney, at a certain age, he didn't seem to date teenagers anymore. You can think about a persons propensity to party and not commit all you want - that's their issue (or non-issue). I think, what it comes down to is who you do it with. As a young women myself, I've had my fair share of older men who where interested in me exactly BECAUSE I was so young and seemingly inexperienced. Leonardo DiCaprio is targeting the exact age bracket I am in. I don't want to present all the women he has dated as dumb, but I get the feeling from older women that they don't accept as much crap anymore as we do. They have had the time to find out what they like, and what they don't like, they have learned what they can expect from their partners. A lot of us haven't figured that stuff out yet. So it very much feels like (at least from the outside) that Leo might be using these women for those exact reasons. I am very aware, that George Clooney has continuously dated women younger than his age, but it does make a difference whether these women are 30 or 19. Idk, I just feel like the difference in experience between a 19-year-old and a 48-year-old creates a huge power imbalance. I can't quite think of a reason why that would be a good thing.
Probably because both know it’s just temporary and fun. We tend to assume everyone who dates is looking for love when plenty of young and old people just want the security of sex with one person for a long period of time.
I agree, I don't mind people not settling down, do what you know is right for you, if you don't want to get married or commit to one person, that's your choice and it's valid. The problem with DiCaprio is not dating around, it's dating women so much younger than him. I'd still respect Clooney if he didn't settle down, but I'd dislike him if he started dating teenagers.
Leo was my first big crush. I was 9 years old and I bought every magazine he was on, every book about him (this was pre google). I always thought I was too young for him cause you know he was 24 and I was 9! Little did I know I had a very small window before I was too old for him lol!!
I'm an amateur historian at best, but it seems like masculinity was a lot kinder before the World Wars. Men were happy to make themselves attractive, go dancing and spend quality time with their partners. It seems that we are working through the industrial dehumanizing trauma of two World Wars and the unrestrained greed and disposability of the 80s.
an unfortunate idea of masculinity and femininity is that men and women are accepted to be feminine at times of peace, but we are pushed back into traditional gender roles at times of crisis.
@@falconeshield It seems like it never did, now that I think about it. World War 2, the Cold War and the Nuclear Arms Race, Vietnam, 9/11, War on Terror, NK, the Middle East, Russia - all this, one after the other, with an emerging global media presence where information is spread 10000000x faster now than it was only 50 years ago? It definitely feels like it's been one stream of HIGH ALERT with bouts of low but has never stopped.
Yes that's a very interesting take. And I'd like to add that during both World Wars women were send to work in jobs that were done by men. Men were send off to war. In WWII's case many men in Europe were forced to work in factories in Germany. When the wars were over the men needed their jobs back. So we got the '50's with the trad-wife propaganda and more rigid gender-roles.
I had a professor in film school who knew Leo as a child through his artist father and she told stories of how neglected he was as a child and starved for attention he was because he was left alone in a locked room while his mother worked two jobs and his father performed. He had a hippie childhood where he grew up too fast with no supervision nor guidance depraved from affection and attention. I think that plus the sudden global fame he got messed with his psyche and stunted his emotional development giving him that forever 21 brain. I don't think he ever wants kids nor even marriage, he wants to forever pretend he's still young like Norma Desmond.
That’s a bit of a stretch, don’t you think? The main reason for his breakup with Camilla (as told by various sources) is that he was ready to settle down and start a family, but she wasn’t!
So he's going to... *Spoiler alert* ... ... drown his next young girlfriend, and as he's taken away by police, will say, "I'm ready for my close-up, Marty!"
@NJGuy1973 I'm hoping he gets baby trapped soon with a son who reminds him of his age and kills all his delusions of still being young, a son who will grow up to steal every young girl that old man Leo tries to seduce.
The decline of the 90’s heart throb is also due to things now being global. Back then there was no internet or social media. No diverse and fair representation. You were forced to watch and consume what Hollywood and the media deemed was trendy and had put out. Which was dominant and white centric. Now there are options. Celebrities are taken down a few pegs from the stratosphere as more and more people realize that celebrities are just people and very much flawed as well. Edit: The mystery and mystique is gone.
Maybe we could start calling it "mainstream male culture" instead of "masculinity". Ever since I saw Billie Eilish say, "I feel the most powerful when I feel masculine", I've been introsoecting about my own tendencyto think in those terms. If we all truly do have "both masculine and feminine energies", and they're not just internalized gender roles, maybe it time for us to call these external presentations and behaviours what they are - part of gendered culture.
Masculinity just means "qualities or attributes regarded as characteristic of men or boys". These traits are both culturally and biologically derived, as is "mainstream male culture" itself, so just calling it "culture" is missing half the picture. It's true that we all have masculine and feminine energies, but that doesn't erase the root of our perception of those energies, which is masculine and feminine divergence. Someone can be said to have a "dogged" persistence, without implying that such a person is, in fact, a dog or that all dogs are persistent. Still, we are familiar with certain attributes of dogs on the whole, and hence we know why that individual is is being compared to one.
Right it really felt like they said he’s not a heartthrob anymore because he’s not as attractive as other men who are just as good-looking and in better shape. Yeah, that happens to many people when they get older it’s called aging
He was my ultimate crush growing up. I read his biography had his posters etc. I think he's forever a teenager and isn't capable of a serious, emotionally intimate relationship. It's sad!
I do think fame at a young age stunts growth. We learn a lot from our awkward stages, rejection, and youthful insecurities. Without the vulnerability and discomfort, I don't think people like Leo ever feel like they need to grow or connect with people on a deeper level. Why would he grow or change when he is already comfortable? It's really disappointing.
It doesn't bother him or he'd stop doing it. He obviously likes women whose personalities aren't fully formed yet, my guess would be because they're easier to control. There's a reason he likes women under 25 and not just because they're "hotter". 🤷♀️
It's a lot simpler than that - women are more attractive in their twenties. It's not rocket science. The make-up industry makes a fortune from this because women also know it.
I think it comes down to two things. One, Leo was raised in this environment. He's been pampered since he was a teen, and no matter what that's gonna have an effect on who you become. And two, we are starting to realize that celebrities are just people, and they are able to screw up like anyone else, except Leo has a lot more money so he can do it on a much bigger scale. Really, the guy was screwed from the start.
@@tiffanym1108 Keanu also dealt with a lot more personal tragedies that could have sent him either way. So yeah, he's more of the exception than the rule
Yup. This reminds me of a video of DMX where he admited he couldn't use a computer because he became famous before there wide spead adoption. Leo is the same, he became famous in a time where actors could have some much power and influence, now honestly the only actor I can think of who fits that mould is Tom Cruise. Leo chose to step away from that roll for himself when he did want to do blockbusters but his lifestyle is pure '90s idol excess.
@@kevinb9830 well, even if I don't (but I do cause my school actually had a pretty good sex ed programme) but even if I didn't I wouldn't listen to you cause of how you spell 'literal'.
I would just like to stress that being unmarried and/or not desiring long-term partnership is perfectly valid. Pedro Pascal has never been married and we love him. I think the obvious difference is, indeed, the age of their partners and if we focus solely on that aspect of Leo's dating life the criticism stays valid. The fact that Leo only dates models under 25 communicates a really unsavory idea of how he views women over all i.e., only having value of they are young and beautiful. Also, as someone in his late 40s, one would hope his life experience would make it hard for him to relate to gen zers in such an intimate way. I think besides misogyny, it's giving immaturity as well.
The thing is women are more attractive in their 20s than they are in their 40s. It's not a secret. Men desire younger women the same way women desire richer men.
I’m glad Leo’s gross dating habits are being scrutinized. I mean really, a 19 year old? That’s extremely creepy. I think it’s one thing to date women younger than you but I think that as you age so should the age bracket of the people that you’re dating. What makes his relationships extra sketchy are how he pretty much never starts dating a woman over 25 and he always breaks up with them before they’ve reached 30. That’s not a preference, it’s a pattern.
@@genius179 Well, he is in his 80s, so that'll make her in her mid 40s. Bernie Ecclestone, former F1 supremo became a father again in his 80s. Maybe Al wants the same thing. The thing is he can attract younger women and so he will.
I don't have a problem if Leo never wants to "settle down", there's no requirement to get married and/or have kids. The issue is he's dating practical children when he's pushing 50. It's creepy.
An underrated Leonardo DiCaprio reference is in ‘Notting Hill’ when the protagonist asks an actor saying she liked working with the famous actor: “So, is he your favourite Italian director?”
Interestingly, the female actor asked this question in the movie was a young Mischa Barton, who the video mentions was pressured to sleep with him as a teen star blehhh
Sylvester Stallone did have a softer side. Don't tell me after scenes like Rambo's breakdown in First Blood, or so many scenes from the Rocky franchise such as Rocky crying over Mickey's death in III, or his argument with Adrian or him talking with his son both in IV, that Stallone didn't have a softer side. Same goes with Arnold and scenes like Conan raging at Thulsa Doom in Conan the Barbarian or the Terminator's emotional scenes with John in T2, or any of Arnold's comedy films like Twins, Kindergarten Cop, Junior or Jingle All the Way.
I don't know about the always dating younger women, but I do know settling down is not for everyone and you should never feel like you should do it because that's what's expected of you at a certain age
I know the sugar daddy image is pretty disgusting, but it might be an attempt, or creepy excuse, to date someone who doesn't want commitment either because they're too young to think about that. I've never had any difficulty finding men my age that don't want to settle down. It's probably different for a male celebrity
Does he even actually date around though? Seems to me everyone is leaping over the fact that he keeps the same girlfriend for 4 to 5 years at a time. Does that sound like a commitment issue? Doesn't to me. However I am no Leo apologist.. the issue is he starts dating them at 19. Wtf does a 19 year old model have in common with a 50 something actor well past his prime? It's a power imbalance as well. Bottom line, it's icky and we can only conclude he likes them that young for a reason and it's not a good one.
I don’t agree with notion you’ve presented here, that everyone should settle down at some point because settling down and having a family isn’t for everyone. But yes, he probably shouldn’t be dating such younger women.
This talk about in Bojack Horseman, with the character, Mr Peanut Butter. He dating women in their 20s. What I like about his story that he chose to remain single and he more happier then when he was in relationships. He remains on good terms with Diane, his third ex-wife.
When it mentioned that heartthrobs of today were more open to queerness I just wanted to point out Leonardo DiCaprio played a queer icon in Total Eclipse, Keanu Reeves played gay in My Own Private Idaho, and Will Smith in Six Degrees of Separation. Out of the three of them Leonardo had the most intimate onscreen scenes, so they were open to it as much as they would be for the time.
there is a very big difference between playing gay characters on screen and presenting urself in a much more androgynous, vaguely queer way in their public and personal lives the way Harry Styles/Timothy Chalamet/etc do - also the influence of Korean boy-bands as they said in the video
'When it mentioned that heartthrobs of today were more open to queerness' What a clown world. No wonder birth rates in the west are dropping like a stone.
Gotta admit, you guys do have a talent for being on trend… Anyway, I’m 32. I’ve been tuned into this conversation, and I don’t think any of us give a damn about him not settling down and continuing to date people… No problem! But… Leave the teen girls alone. Leave the 20 and the 21 year olds alone! You’re never going to convince us that it is OK because we were once teens, 20 and 21 year old girls and we know how these old creeps are, most of us. A lot of us were prayed on by an older man… they just want to suck your youth and life force out of you. Try to mold you. I think everything went left with Leo when people heard a rumor that he was dating a 19-year-old girl.. THAT IS SICK. What’s even more sick is all the red pill misogynists on Twitter arguing with you about why it’s OK for him to do that to a teen girl. Could only imagine what they would do to a young girl if they could. We’re going to always fiercely protect the young girls.
I'm so glad that The Take spoke about how 98% of heartthrobs of the 90's were white but unfortunately nothing has really changed. Obviously there are outliers like Michael B Jordan and Simu Liu but majority are still white and eurocentric.
All the women who date him say he's genuinely a nice guy with a great sense of humor. I think men are just flummoxed to find out that's what we've BEEN looking for.
he's not living off the goodwill from titanic. Say what you want but he is obviously an extremely talented actor and carries most movies he stars in (the beach, django, wolf of wall street, incention, shutter island ... i could go on and on) honestly he should not give a fuck about what people think and keep on dating young women as long as he likes. I find the fact that he pretends to care about climate change while owing a private jet way more problematic. the dating young women thing is just enjoying life
@@berdre2605 wtf are you talking about? i was referring to how we as a society tolerate his dating habits because he was a manic pixie dream boy in what was the biggest movie of all time
@@earl.c i was thinking you were referring to his fame. the fact that you consider his dating habits intolerable is even worse. he's dating grown-up women and there aren't reports of him abusing being violent in any way. so it's pretty much two consenting adults dating and what society tolerates or not has nothing to with it
@@berdre2605 How much of an adult some is if their brains aren't fully developped? The thing is not why those women are attracted to him, is why he is attracted to them. I'm "just" about a decade older than his current girlfriend and she looks and acts like a fetus for me
Before I even watch this video, I’m gonna say - at least in some part my prediction is that for the women who grew up crushing on Leo, who are now in their 30s and 40s (I’m in this demographic here), it’s a lot less appealing to still idealize him when he is now most famous for dating women who are young enough to be his child. Whatever his reason is for dating under 25s is, it’s easy to project upon it the idea that a mentally and physically fully grown woman is “past her prime” which feels misogynistic and dehumanizing. Unfortunately there are enough men who fetishize women much younger themselves (and sometimes very young women, period) and feel empowered by famous men whose power and status makes its very easy for them to fulfill that fantasy, so we have a lot of Hot Takes that cycling through women more frequently than you change an IUD and never dating someone who can rent a card without paying an age fee is a “biological imperative”.
it can feel whatever you want, the fact is women are more attractive at that age, for obvious evolutionary reasons. The fact you're past your best now makes you want to defend where you currently are.
So basically, if they can project an image we think is acceptable, that’s enough? Personally, I couldn’t give a rats arse who Leo is getting on to, he makes great movies
I don’t get the obsession with Leo’s girlfriends. At the end of the day, he isn’t actually hurting anyone. The women are all consenting adults. Who cares?
This reminds me of a post about a guy complaining about the high standard of women these days. He was particularly vexed that on top of good looks, guys had to be good people.
well some people just coast by on looks. also pretty privilege and male privilege is a thing. many times men and even at an early age boys can get away w/ being jerks and it's brushed off
I'm not defending Leo and his creepy habit of dating very young women, but this video seems to equate "settling down" into a traditional monogomous relationship as the only way to age with maturity and grace, which is BS.
There's no way Leo didn't suffer as a kid growing up in Hollywood. If I was a predator I'd 100% go for young leo. I don't think he knows much different or has a phobia of adults like Michael Jackson
Leo DiCaprio movie career is pretty solid into the 2000s but I guess this video is just criticizing his personal life of dating younger women and not settling down.
If you tasked me with finding an angel, I could find an angel in everyone. If you tasked me with finding a devil, I could find a devil in everyone. Celebrities are not especially anything. They are every bit as flawed as the rest of us. They just have more money and fame.
Of course we all want Leo to be a great person, but the fact is - he is good enough. He's not breaking the law, he's still a great actor and he does a lot for the environment. He's not hearting anyone. Why on earth should everybody get married to be liked? Women and men alike should be free to date whoever they want as long as it doesn't break law.
Again I think this should be look at in context of Mischa's statement. That kinda summarizes the issue here. Hollywood is full of pervs, just putting that out there.
I hate how you refer to Giselle and Misha as the perfect woman as it is pretty clear this is only based on their traditional beauty. without excusing Leo's dating habits, Giselle was not his perfect match as she wanted another life than he did. end of story.
Talking about how people criticize Leo for wanting young women, while talking about the appeal of young boyish high school looking hearthrobs to the people.
Maybe there’s a difference between appreciating their beauty, and sleeping with them using your position and power and replacing them regularly, despite being much older? If an older woman does the same thing and go through young guys, we’d think something’s wrong with her too. Maybe we’ll be even more critical about it.
Isn't the first time I've noticed the hypocrisy. It's happening a little too often and gives off the vibe that they're just making these videos for views, instead of sharing genuine insightful commentary on Hollywood and media.
@@IgnorantSeeker yeah that they don't have the power to do it hahaha that's the difference. And maybe, just maybe people should stop criticizing both men and women altogether and focus on their own lives.
@@Z-FishInMyBreakfast While I absolutely agree with JJ, it doesn't take away from the fact that I've often noticed The Take ignoring its own preaching. One minute it's all about self-acceptance, women supporting women, or the responsibility of the media, the next is a snarky remark, a holier-than-thou, ageism, etc. I've commented this before on earlier videos.
We tend to assume everyone who dates is looking for long-term love, when plenty of young and old people just want the social comfort of regular sex with one person for aa long as it’s fun. 20 year olds are adults and are entirely capable of wanting nothing but sex from someone, ESPECIALLY if they are career-minded and self-interested as I was at that age.
There's a reason that opinion is unpopular. I think sleeping with someone "for your career" is not the way to go AT ALL. Even if that wasn't your intention, we live in a system that makes it about that. You'll have thrown every other woman under the bus when you do that, and they look for younger ones because they're definitely not experienced enough to realize that.
I totally agree with u. These women that are dating Leo are ok with it and adults . Let's stop treating them like they were kids. As long as he does not harm any of them , it's their personal lives
Exactly. I'd love to date Leo for a few months and travel to private islands and party and whatnot, lol (though I'm 25 so even if it magically happened I'd probably be too old). Sometimes dating is just fun because you get to know a new person and explore new parts of yourself. People act like all these women who date Leo are unaware of his history, as though they'll be absolutely shocked that he doesn't want to marry, lol.
Instead of judging these men, we just don't have to have them for our imaginary boyfriends. We're on the outside looking in and we really don't know why they behave the way they do, nor should we really care unless said behavior is criminal. They are just fictional characters in our lives, as it should be. I try not to judge because I have no idea where their real life choices come from. Besides, I'm old school and Denzel and George will always be my imagery boyfriends 😉* *I also like Timothee but I feel like a creepy cradle robber for liking him.
I think it's awkward and inappropriate to throw shade for a guy who just date adult, even if very young women. It's his life. Now everybody needs to be into relationships and family life. Like you cant find something more serious to talk about in video?
bc 90s nostalgia. also us millennials were children in the 90s so many of us are in our 30s we arent that old lol. plus 90s style is back everything 90s is relevant now. 2000s too
I'm not really about judging other people's life choices, so this one's not for me. As long as its consensual, a couple's age gap is really nobody's business. Nor should someone be criticized for not settling down, when you just did a video about how its okay to not settle down. But yes, heartthrobs have changed. In large part because they are under more of a microscope thanks to the internet. Everyone better be on their best behavior.
Again this isn't the big picture here. It's not about Leo specifically.. Look into Mischa's statement and you'll get what this is REALLY factoring into.
people wayyyy overthink Leo's situation. its so simple: he doesnt want to get married and we wants to sleep with hot women without any strings. most people want to at least start thinking about gettting married/having kids by time they reach 25 so it makes sense why he'd end his relationships around then. i think a lot of people attach nefarious intention to something thats as simple as "rich man wants to have sex with beautiful women without any kind of major commitment"
I loved the Rambo and Terminator series back in the day. I'm not sure if they are not sensitive. 1. Rambo First Blood dealt with a Shell Shocked John Rambo coming back home just walking through a town after visiting his friends families where he finds they have died due to complications. He is tortured by the prejudice police and at the end is crying on the floor. NOT Sensitive enough??? 2. Terminator 1&2 are about an Robot Killing Machine... how is he supposed to act... and in part 2 gets to even show us how to feel "feelings" throughout the film as a surrogate father figure to John. I'm not upset or anything if I'm coming across that way. I just don't get how these chaps are being seen as not.

As a 90s and early aughts kids I still have a soft spot for Leo. I still enjoy him in a good role like Once Upon a time in Hollywood. Aside from jokes about his young girl friends which is his business I don’t see him going through a decline. He is a bit preachy on environmental issues when he doesn’t live a green life style but that’s more of a celebrity issue
There is nothing wrong with LEO dating younger women. It's that career women in there 30s are starting to come to grips with the fact that high status men don't give a shit about their women status or bank account. They just want someone who is fun and pretty and women in their early 20s tend to be that. No one wants a career driven women past her prime.
"Part of why DiCaprio's behaviour feels problematic is because he's no longer a young boy hearthrob" Interesting. So, is society's judgment of him for dating younger women actually ageism? 😅
There was an analysis on masculinity in cinema that I can't find, but it looked at how masculinity changes with the teens through out the die hard movies. Going from regular guy to unfeeling muscle dude really shows that trend into toxic masculinity, which were now trying to leave behind
I think with Leo there must be a deeper problem than just him not realizing he is growing up, he must have some kind of commitment issue or something else… maybe I’m trying to protect him because I think he is a great actor but the fact that he is only dating younger women Is maybe bc of their age they don’t want to settle down yet just like him
@@greyLeicester noo, he was a heartthrob for women of every age, he definitely didn’t age well but in his Titanic and Man in the ironMask days he was really good looking, though for me got kind of not good looking too soon. But he was super handsome in Titanic
A rich old guy dating a young woman is one of the oldest and most tired cliches going. However I fail to see DiCaprio's "behavior" as problematic. All in all, we are talking about a consenting adult dating a consenting adult. If he's using his position to pressure anyone, behave boorishly, or carry on inappropriately with anyone underage, then I'd be with you. But I do not believe that is the case here. When I see DiCaprio in a movie, as far as I'm concerned, he's under obligation to give me a damn good performance in hopefully a damn good movie. What this man does in his personal life, on the other hand, is really his business. Also, I believe these younger women have a say in the matter, do they not?
It's not anybody business who he dates. Those girls are mature enough to decide for themselves and are not minors. I dislike this obsession with who DiCaprio is dating and what it implies. I think The Take's time is better spent elsewhere.

The women are not in a rush to get married, and are young, ignorant, beautiful, and precocious with nothing to lose and everything to gain from faux-dad-bod-Leo. If agism and healthy authenticity is challenged here, then Leonardo needs to learn from the times and move beyond the personna of Hugh Heffner and his bunnies.
For God's sake... It is entirely up to him, who he dates, as long as he doesn't harm anybody.... some men, just never grow up, and there is not any hidden agenda behind it... More important, Leonardo is still pretty awesome actor and an enivoment activist, so who really cares, about his PERSONAL DATING CHOICES....not everybody has to help orphans or give away money or even be mature. People are diffrerent and he doesn't have to settle down if he doesn't want to. That DOESN"T make him any lesser actor or human being.
There's a system out there (Especially in Hollywood) that's entirely designed around subjugating women... And you're like "Oh coolsies let him do what he wants" even though his actions clearly perpetuate the existence of such a system and empowers it. He can't be a poster boy for that and we let stuff go because we like Leo. Pretty privilege shouldn't apply here.
But if The Take would praise a male actor for pursuing a same sex relationship or pushing the boundaries of how he presents himself in the name of freedom, why does The Take criticize DiCaprio in the name of limits (settling down with one woman his own age)?
It is such a shame The Take videos are not any longer than around 10 minutes anymore. What happend to the in depth/more elaborative videos The Take used to make?
Idk…is Leo’s dating history weird, yes. But prove that he’s messed around with an underage? Or show me the complaints from his previous girlfriends that he’s an egotistical abuser or a groomer? Until then it’s just optics, but not illegal or dangerous. With no proof or even accusation, all this does is spread more rumors about him, ruining his reputation all because WE want him too hurry up and settle down because it makes us feel better. Pretty judgmental.
I think you're trying to compare what seems to be somewhat "pathological" behavior to a crime. That's not how it works. It's not like having something like diabetes should get you locked up, but you should look into it...
It's not like diabetes. It doesn't hurt anyone. Why should he fix anything? And if you don't like him dating young women, you should also go and explane to them, why they are setting a bad example to society.
So boring and moralistic. They are consenting adults. Besides, Leo has been recently working at better movies with better directors than all those other guys mentioned.
My issue with Leo is just the power dynamic between him and the women because of life experience differences. It's weird to me that people demand you settle down as you get older and just seems like it's just pushing the 1950s nuclear family onto people. People shaming him for that rather than just the power dynamic between the age differences just seems wrong and goes to show as a society we are not half as progressive as we like to pretend we are.

Nah, this is different case and scenario, we saw Milllie and Bella since they were child, while we didn't familiar with Women that Leo's dated

The fact of Leo being a playboy bachelor in his late forties would be a lot more palpable if he was having flings with more age-appropriate women. It’s the fact that he seems to dump them the second their prefrontal cortex is fully developed that skeeves people out, much more than his perennial bachelor life.
My personal conspiracy theory is that the moment their brains finish developing, these women realise that they deserve better and dump him.

I'd love a documentary on this!
an unfortunate idea of masculinity and femininity is that men and women are accepted to be feminine at times of peace, but we are pushed back into traditional gender roles at times of crisis.

Now American movie fans can choose Indian or Korean heartthrobs if they want.
well take me back, because the film industry now is a disgrace.
This comment is real gold
I mean the fact is it’s 2023. The 90s are further away from our generation than ever before so all the heartthrobs have become… middle aged!

I do think fame at a young age stunts growth. We learn a lot from our awkward stages, rejection, and youthful insecurities. Why would he grow or change when he is already comfortable? It's really disappointing.

A lot of women will expect marriage by 25, and he clearly doesn’t want to get married
Maybe he's not fully developed himself. I've certainly thought that a time or two about him.

Men desire younger women the same way women desire richer men.
and the gold digging whores are entirely blameless?
I’m glad Leo’s gross dating habits are being scrutinized. I mean really, a 19 year old? That’s extremely creepy. I think it’s one thing to date women younger than you but I think that as you age so should the age bracket of the people that you’re dating.
Right
It's really that first part that people are discussing.
I know the sugar daddy image is pretty disgusting, but it might be an attempt, or creepy excuse, to date someone who doesn't want commitment either because they're too young to think about that. I've never had any difficulty finding men my age that don't want to settle down. It's probably different for a male celebrity
That makes sense!
But yes, he probably shouldn’t be dating such younger women.
well, how about taking the perspective that women shouldn't be gold digging whores?

Paul Rudd later became The Ant Man and went from cute nerd to smoking hawt!
So basically, if they can project an image we think is acceptable, that’s enough?

🤢🤢
Hey Miss Swift dropped a gem with this one...
It is the punchline to a joke, and I don't disagree 😏
@@samf.s.7731 i'll get older but your lovers stay my age
That's his business
@@merry_christmas read the comment above u
@@Z-FishInMyBreakfast While I absolutely agree with JJ, it doesn't take away from the fact that I've often noticed The Take ignoring its own preaching.
One minute it's all about self-acceptance, women supporting women, or the responsibility of the media, the next is a snarky remark, a holier-than-thou, ageism, etc. I've commented this before on earlier videos.
growing up in the 90s I never liked Leo I always felt like an outcast in that lol
Finally someone said it. 😅
Where was Brad Pitt? He was the 90’s.
I never got it. Always hated him
Same. Brad Pitt, at least to me, has always been the more fascinating actor.
Fight Club.
Besides, I'm old school and Denzel and George will always be my imagery boyfriends 😉*
*I also like Timothee but I feel like a creepy cradle robber for liking him.
I think it's awkward and inappropriate to throw shade for a guy who just date adult, even if very young women. It's his life. Now everybody needs to be into relationships and family life. Like you cant find something more serious to talk about in video?
love how the heartthrob changed its sooo good and way more attractiv
Well, the 90s were 30 years ago... so why would today's audience care for them?
bc 90s nostalgia. also us millennials were children in the 90s so many of us are in our 30s we arent that old lol. plus 90s style is back everything 90s is relevant now. 2000s too
I'm not really about judging other people's life choices, so this one's not for me.
If your you’re pushing 50 how about not trying to “date” someone that has teen at the end of their age😂
people wayyyy overthink Leo's situation. its so simple: he doesnt want to get married and we wants to sleep with hot women without any strings. most people want to at least start thinking about gettting married/having kids by time they reach 25 so it makes sense why he'd end his relationships around then. i think a lot of people attach nefarious intention to something thats as simple as "rich man wants to have sex with beautiful women without any kind of major commitment"
Yet when Jennifer Lopez at 50 was dating a 25 year old this channel didn’t say a word lol .
I saw plenty on that.
Sorry she dated one guy who's 25?
The same age LD dumps his dates at? And one guy right?
See I'm seeing apples and oranges here....
It's hilarious when you literally picked "whataboutism" as your counter argument (A weak one to begin with, and highly indicative of your bias here!), but for even that argument to be so faulty...
Have you ever thought with anything besides your Pepe?
Me thinks, no!
@@samf.s.7731 I think it was more than one, but your point still holds, she didn't dump them at an expiration date and get a younger replacement. It is just so gross. Leo needs counseling. Seriously!
Its because Leo is dating very young women, like 19. 25 is indeed young, but 19 is just a year after becoming legal age.
@@Palepetal Same difference. It is still choosing women who are less likely to stand up to you, because they don't know who they are yet. In fact, I'll bet 25 is where most of the women say, "Enough with this B.S."!
ngl, i did not expect that particular hobi clip during the bts mention 😂
It's not the k pop that influenced this cute boy look it was beedles that introduced this soft boy look the girls were crazy over them. More feminine type of dress were introduced by the 80s pop stars Prince, Michael Jackson k pop is a copy of Japanese pop music.
Omfg that clip of Sarah and Freddy was adorable. Yes that’s giving I’m an adult the women next to me is giving I get respected daily
Sorry but I am bothered by your focus on his personal life choices in your take. It's his person life and none of the women he has dated ever complained about him.
Let's not be judgemental. It's his choice. Who are we to judge his life as long as he is not harming anyone ? Wtf is that era ? We can joke about it , fine ... But criticizing is too far.
He is a amazing actor and played major roles in his career. Give the dude a break ! I'm a woman and don't care about what people do in their bedroom as long as they don't harm anyone .
One thing this story missed is Leo’s relationship with Jho Low - and him being the ‘good friend’ of the man behind the 1MDB scandal
Leonardo is happy, rich and successful. He can live his life how he wants to live it. He may not want kids or marriage.
Leo Di Caprio has something with the age 25, like that number is his limit for some reason.
In order to be accepted, a man has to settle down.
Right.
Welcome to 1950s.
Women that chose not to "settle down" should be equally criticized?
As a 90s and early aughts kids I still have a soft spot for Leo. I still enjoy him in a good role like Once Upon a time in Hollywood. Aside from jokes about his young girl friends which is his business I don’t see him going through a decline.
He is a bit preachy on environmental issues when he doesn’t live a green life style but that’s more of a celebrity issue
"They were all white"...goes onto name black heartthrobs of the 90's 😆
Always seems to forget that Leo did a role as a gay man, when he was a heartthrob
I've never been into him and I was a 90s teen. This little fixation of his with young chippies is a little odd
"Part of why DiCaprio's behaviour feels problematic is because he's no longer a young boy hearthrob"
Interesting.
I think with Leo there must be a deeper problem than just him not realizing he is growing up, he must have some kind of commitment issue or something else… maybe I’m trying to protect him because I think he is a great actor but the fact that he is only dating younger women Is maybe bc of their age they don’t want to settle down yet just like him
Why the hell are Paul Rudd or Keaunu in the thumbnail.
if anything, they've only been thriving
I never understood why Leo DC was a heartthrob. He used to look like a child and now isn't aging well at all.
Well, he was a heart-throb for teens who, after all, were children themselves 🤷🏻♀️
@@greyLeicester He looked like he was 12 in Titanic.
@@greyLeicester noo, he was a heartthrob for women of every age, he definitely didn’t age well but in his Titanic and Man in the ironMask days he was really good looking, though for me got kind of not good looking too soon.
But he was super handsome in Titanic
Well he wasn't for you...😂
A rich old guy dating a young woman is one of the oldest and most tired cliches going.
Who's WE?
He kissed David Thewlis on the mouth
He did that was hit as fuc* 🥰💖😍
Nah Leo’s the fucking man lol
It's not anybody business who he dates. Those girls are mature enough to decide for themselves and are not minors. I dislike this obsession with who DiCaprio is dating and what it implies. I think The Take's time is better spent elsewhere.
Could you do a Video about the rise of study Blogs (i.g. Study with me Videos on UA-cam, study Tipps on Instagram and TikTok) during the pandamic? Those Blogs can encourage and improve people to study but at the same time can put additional pressure on them to achieve perfection.
It doesn't help that young lesbians now claim his hair and his 90s style
He knows women at that age aren't in a rush to get married and have kids
my dad and me have that age difference, he takes advantage of them being NAIVE
@@bhavya5692 i'm sure there are tons of non-naive young and older women who would date him. he's leonard dicaprio, of course they'd date him
The women are not in a rush to get married, and are young, ignorant, beautiful, and precocious with nothing to lose and everything to gain from faux-dad-bod-Leo. If agism and healthy authenticity is challenged here, then Leonardo needs to learn from the times and move beyond the personna of Hugh Heffner and his bunnies.
How would The Take deconstruct female empowerment alongside Hugh Heffner and his bunnies?
@@kaitlyncolab3534 hugh heffner died a happy man. I can't blame leo if that's what he's going for
Please go back to movie and character analysis
Actually I’m 39 and only date men in their early 20th. So I should not judge him.
Nobody cares about him not settling down. Its the fact that he dates fetuses
@@iamV10010 They are not children, so it shouldn't be nobody's buisness
And if you don't like him dating young women, you should also go and explane to them, why they are setting a bad example to society.
leave Leo alone
Why don't they date someone their age?
So boring and moralistic. They are consenting adults. Besides, Leo has been recently working at better movies with better directors than all those other guys mentioned.
Didn’t Leo start in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape?
It bothers you, but you keep doing it. You may need to go see a professional about that sir.
