The more i watch Calzaghe the more i think he would have beat Froch easily. Fast hands, boxing IQ, chin, footwork. Joe would have picked Froch apart. Also he could fight fire with fire if it came to it. Froch was a great fighter but Calzaghe was better in every department
Froch had the power and maybe the chin but he would have taken a lot to get near calzaghe. Joe also had a really good chin aswell. Usually it's Froch's fantastic work rate and fitness that helps him beat his opponents but joe had almost unlimited stamina and endurance.
Yes, he would have outboxed Froch and his stamina would have seen him through to the end without Froch getting to him as he could with lesser opponents.
I'd say Calzaghe had the better chin out the two, fought and took hits from much harder punchers of the twos career. Calzaghe was a level above Froch, if only he and Mayweather/Pacman were in the same division - what a fight that would be.
I'm a dane, in the break after 5th, Kesslers trainer says "Yes, that's the way to win that shit! It's hard, but that's the way." Kessler is a counterboxer and doesn't like to be on the attack, but he gives all he's got in the attempt. Great fight from them both.
One of the best fights I've ever seen in terms of skill, athleticism, and tactics. Two great boxers at their peaks, undefeated, and both likeable. A VERY rare event! Calzaghe was a bit better, but ironically this is one of the performances that proves how good Kessler was.
An exemplary fight: the very best of boxing on display. I scored it 118-110 (gave Kessler only two rounds); the swing rounds (where a case could be made for Kessler) were four, five (Calzaghe was the busier) and seven (Kessler had some success in the middle but it was a case of single shots here and there). Calzaghe's counter jab is truly a thing of beauty. He is such a complete fighter; my second favourite of all time after Ken Buchanan. Broad punch selection; excellent variation; those famous flurries that overwhelmed opponents (Kessler was saved by the referee in the eighth from becoming another victim); such firm guard control over his man's hands; how he steps in to smother an opponent's onslaught rather than retreats; the footwork that takes him in to hit and out of harm's way so seamlessly; the range control - how he is almost always close enough to land but not near enough to take a punch; the way he turns his man and catches him over the top at an angle; his head and upper body movement in the last resort that save him from getting chinned. And then the engine: he is nonstop from first to final bell. 👏

He started taking over when flanking left shoulder of Kessler, and finishing shots with right hook behind left ear of Kessler. Was attacking a little too straight on in early rounds, which left him a bit short on range leaving himself exposed to counter uppercuts. Wasn’t bringing his feet with the attacks, footwork a bit flat, but like a true champ made the adjustments. Kept his feet closer together and turned the corner on him, game over after that.
