The Outdoor Classroom Project's long-term outcome is to increase the quantity, quality, and benefit of outdoor experiences for young children in programs of early care and education.
I have a problem with what the gentleman says at 1:27 regarding ADHD "and the drugs that go along with it". Being indoors or sedentary (which I am assuming he is implying) doesn't cause ADHD and there is absolutely nothing wrong with taking medication for being neurodivergent and needing support. Perhaps this is a really outdated video but maybe that part can be edited or something.
Hi Bonnie, I didn't get that he was implying that a sedentary lifestyle causes ADHD nor that there is anything wrong with taking medication at all! I think he was more so emphasizing the importance of outdoor play and how it can help reduce the challenges that come with the different conditions he mentioned.

How do I get my own outdoor class started? Any needed certifications?
Hi I am an environmental educator usually you do not need any special certificates unless your school requires you to do one to go outside. If you are looking to take a class and you live in the u.s. Project Wet, Project Wild, and Project Learning Tree are all good classes you can take. My suggestion for you is take a subject you feel really comfortable teaching and find activities that you can do with your students outside around that subject and then build on it from there. Just remember to go through the appropriate channels at your school so your principal understands what you are doing and you and your students are being safe! elsa litecky.... thanks so much. So I'm not a teacher of any sort. Or affiliated with any school system. And only have a few years of college under my belt. I'm just a mom who wants to get my child as well as other children outside and want to make it a legit thing.
Yodee86 okay well what state are you in cuz I know minnesota has a master naturalist organization for people looking to do naturalist volunteering otherwise getting involved as a volunteer at a local nature center could help you build up credibility. I would say in your case just start doing it with your kids and as other people are interested have their kids join. The jane goodall institute has a great online class called growing compassionate leaders and it is usually free too. Find activities you like do them with your kids and build off of them from there. Yodee86 it's funny you say that but I really appreciate it too because I came on this video and a lot of videos like this looking to hone my craft as a environmental educator and so far I have not found many good videos on this topic. So I have been working on starting my own UA-cam channel on this topic and then I saw your topic and I was like this lady knows what is up! These videos are great for showing the why don't get me wrong but they never get to the how... I am actually recording my first videos this weekend but you know what I am going home tonignt and going to sign up for my first social media accounts on this subject so look for EcoElsa and I will come back in here and post the links. Thank you so much Yodee86 for just helping with this push that makes me feel like the universe is pushing me toward this path ☺
Also I didn't come in with the intention of self-prompting it was more like I knew this topic was relevant and maybe my videos will be able to help someone but right now I am going to help this one person and make a difference for them at least 🙂
