awesome content man, great and helpful stuff, I've been prepping the soil/digging holes and testing the drainage like you mentioned in this video, I want to transplant a couple of robellinis to my new house they're like 13 years old, how big does the root ball need to be? How much do I dig out for these baby's to thrive? I'd appreciate your help, thank you best to you and your channel 👍
Just try to get as much as the rootball as possible. I have another video about propagating date palms from offshoots. Check it out, it will give you an idea about the size of the rootball.
thank you, very informative. When is the best time to plant them? I live in Imperial County where it gets really hot 120 degrees in the summer for 3 months. Right now (May) is in the low 90s. I am new to the desert and trying not to kill my palms.
If the palm is smaller like a medium sized pot size, Can u still plant it or does it have to be bigger, like the one in this video, to be able to place this in the ground??
I just planted 60 date palms yesterday in Tunisia (north Africa). People here advice to give it 90 liters daily for the first 40 days (soil loam and sand fifty fifty) Any advice
Water until wet. Then every 12 hours check the soil around the rootball and let dry about 15 to 30 cm. However long it takes for that to happen is exactly how often you will need to water those date palms their first year in ground.
GA would be too cold. You would need to cold protect it once you get in the low teens or if your ground freezes. Dates are not true to seed, yes you can grow the seed from store bought but you will not get same tasting fruit.
Deep water once fully rooted. Do let the soil dry in between watering. I have (1) 13 gallon an hour emitter on it right now. In my soil with my drainage, I water about 3 hours once every 3-4 days with the emitter half open.
Really informative. Great video, you are obviously very knowledgeable. Thank you for this.
Great video!! This guy is legit!!
Not going to lie this is a very informative video but your cameraman’s breathing is very Micheal Myers Halloween funny. 😂

Thank you! Where can I get the stuff for my clay problem? Is it called Gibson?
gypsum, check out our drainage video to learn more. You can buy it at any box store.
What is the space between the plants
if you want to walk around then I would say plant every 8ft or so.
Great video!
Is it pumestine for the coayp
Can you grow date trees in Northern California? I’m a beginner gardener, what are some things I should be aware of?
How cold do you get in your area.?
Why not use organic matter to improve soil drainage?
you can if you want. Water comes first though
@@qctropicals would you still recommend a 50/50 mix with compost?
@@chosen2030 it doesn't hurt anything. I just plant my trees straight in native soil now. Haven't had any issues.
can i plant it in any season like you did?
unless your soil freezes during winter then yes.

date palms are bullet proof once planted in ground. Just water when dry. 120f? they love it!.
@QCTropicals thank you.

It will always do better in the ground than in the pot. No issues planting a small palm.
Know where I can find fruiting Barhi date trees that are shippable.
We don't carry that variety unfortunately.

@QCTropicals Thanks a lot. So, which fruits and vegetables are best for Georgia? I'm trying to grow strawberries.
@@honeybunnyk6428 stone fruits would be best for your area like peaches, plums, nectarines. Also apples, pears, etc.
@@qctropicals Thanks alot
