I actually think her expression is even better as she prepares to do it starting at 1:53 - specifically the almost hidden but quite devious smirk she makes at 1:58.
There's an interview with Kate Mulgrew where she admits they had wanted to pair her with Chakotay and she refused so they punished her with the holographic romance
I liked the bit where she kept telling the computer how to alter Michael's personality and the computer didn't get it. If it was human, it'd be saying "Huh?"
All she changed about him physically was his height and facial hair, he was made by Tom Paris so maybe Paris had the other fun parameters already taken care of.
ehh, the one on the Orville was extrapolating the character based on historic records of a real person, so changed things based on the modifications. Here, Janeway's essentially modding a game to make the hot bartender an additional romance option.
She's too noble to bang a crew member, and she's never at one planet long enough for romance. And Q's not her type. So it's a hologram or replicate a cucumber.
The perfect solution for a captain who can't fraternize with her crew. Create someone she CAN fraternize with. To paraphrase Tim Curry: "in just 97 seconds... I can make you a maaaan!"
ahhhh a story as old as time girl meets boy girl falls in love with boy girl deletes the wife if only i could do that to ashton kutcher, then mila would be mine :)
Captain Janeway obviously had great taste in men and their academic worth! Trinity College, Dublin is one of the finest universities on the world. As an Irish man and 'Trek fan I was bowled over by this!
@@eoghanlacey6384 trinity college is the elder sister to Harvard university in America (was founded by collegiates from trinity), in fact if you want in on Harvard, trinity college is one of the best ways in.
In this episode, I believe Janeway received a "Dear John" message from her now ex-fiance; telling her it's over and he's found another woman to keep his bed warm, a-hole!! Because she is unable to have intimate relationships with her crew due to Starfleet regulations she programmed a character in a holodeck story to provide her with companionship and comfort after the break up. A romance with a holodeck character wouldn't be against the regulations, but would probably cause a ripple of amusement amongst her superiors when she makes it back to the Alpha Quadrant!
yeah, we all know whats going on in the holodecks, thas also why special permission is required to see the logs and why doing so is a shitty thing to do. i just wonder who has to clean the holodecks, propably one of the worst jobs on the ship.
Well in this case his is holodick jizz 😂 ….. So anyways when end program happens it disappears also. Now if he done a heck of a job with his holodick. There might be a creamy glaze left by someone unmentioned who’s not part of the program 🤔
If I had a nickel for every time Janeway said that when meeting a guy she likes... Of course, it usually involves her giving him a knowing look while handing him a butcher knife.
Imagine how horrible life would be if everyone and everything were tailor made of our desires. We rarely choose what we need when what we want is available, and it leaves us the poorer for it.
You're just as poor the all the same when you only get what you just need AND NOT able to make any adjustments Believe me / Trust me.. I've seen people live in the fifties and sixties.. The grass is definitely no greener and the ice is no colder
That's incidentally kind of how I feel when people modify characters in games where romance is an option to be able to be be romanced by a player character they would normally not be interested in.
I don't think so. No. This scene talks about a woman that has lost everything dear to her. She had a husband and she lost him. He moved on, marrying another woman. She is lost in the unknown with nothing else then her responsabilities as a captain. That's terrifying but she finally found a way to enjoy a little bit of privacy, normal life and, well, pleasure. I personaly find this scene really healthy. It Is so human. Something that everyone would have done in her position. Also this evolved her character so good. Everyone can empatize with her in this scene and that's wonderful. That ship is lost and everyone can die in any moment and this is all on her shoulders. If the captain want to roll in the hay with a man in her rare free time, she's more then entitled to do so. That's nothing sexist in this. Ok, she programmed her man, but, who cares? That's another thing everyone would do, it's just a computer software. I would create some crazy p*rn s**t with a holodeck XD if the captain want that she is entitled to do so in her privacy. Nothing wrong with that.
Would this scene have sparked any backlash if it was a male character adjusting a female hologram's, uh, "parameters?" Food for thought. On a different note, I would kill to see the outtakes from this.
Maybe a little childish, but if I were playing that character, and Janeway is so damn close to him, I probably couldn't help to startle her. Just a sudden movement would be sufficient… 😂🙈
The acting on "Delete the wife" might be one of the best line deliveries ever
Maybe because she’s done it in real life. She’s a heffer.
You might very well think so, but, of course, I couldn't possibly comment. ❤
