    This is the most practical and useful video for a BA that I’ve come across on UA-cam. Thank you so much.
    I’ve been searching for a real and informative video for a while now.

    It is awesome that you gave us a chance to see a day in the life of your BA career, thank you very much for that. As you said in a previous video, it can look different based on what industry we work in, what methodology the company, product, and project team works on, and how they are comprised. I noticed in this video you made mention of "dress rehearsals" and "dry runs" and was hoping you could provide some more clarification. Are these the various iterations of your deliverables/prototyping for each sprint?

      Thanks for your feedback!
      When I say dress rehearsal or dry run, I mean basically to imitate the go-live, or let's say production deployment. Before you deploy something into production, especially if many teams and dependencies are involved, you want to imitate this deployment a couple of times in order to ensure that in case you will have the REAL go live, everything runs smooth. While doing these dry runs you will learn about issues which may come up in case of a prod deployment etc.

      @@theagilebusinessanalystcan you give example of this on bank perspective what are those dependencies? I hope i can get an answer 😢

    • @theagilebusinessanalyst
      @theagilebusinessanalyst  Рік тому +2

      @@danielmatsunaga11111 Sure. For example we were developing an application where bank employees could manage their clients. Our application had dependencies to other applications and data storages within the bank. E.g. a data storage where different kind of details about clients are stored, and other applications which send back some data to our application after they were done. With a dry run we were checking if those dependencies run smooth, so if other applications send us the information we expected them to send. Also we were checking of the data storages were accessible from our application. These are examples for dependencies, hope that helps :)

    Very useful video. Your videos have helped me a lot these past months. I am transitioning from an Application Analyst to a BA and I start my new Job in 2 weeks.
    Please keep posting more videos!
    Question: what training are you currently doing and what would you advice a BA starting off to look at in terms of training? Thanks

    • @theagilebusinessanalyst
      @theagilebusinessanalyst  2 роки тому +4

      Hey David, I‘m so happy hearing that!
      Currently I‘m learning more about Product Ownership as the BA role and the Product Owner share lots of similarities and interconnect with each other.
      I highly recommend a BA starting out fresh to get hands on
      - agile trainings, getting to know how to operate within Scrum
      - get your hands on the BABOK (BA body of Knowledge book) for first guidance
      - Furthermore, I recommend learning more about Business Process Modelling, e.g with BPMN. This helps you to communicate requirements better to software engineers.
      Have a great start into the new role!

    Hi…. Thank you so much for this wonderful video. You are making my life easy. I just have a question though, I started working as a Business Analyst… working on a new project. At first the stakeholders were not ready for the change (they were using excel macro to run the business). I gave a demo on how the new system works and accommodates what they need. My question is do I have gather my requirements or is it already done when they told me what all the new system should do… I am really confused

    • @theagilebusinessanalyst
      @theagilebusinessanalyst  Рік тому

      Hey Nida
      Are You aware of the project management method used in your project? Waterfall or scrum?
      Did they provide a large document with requirements, e.g. A business requirements document (BRD)?
      Happy to help and thanks for your feedback :)

    • @nida7379
      @nida7379 Рік тому

      @@theagilebusinessanalyst we follow scrum.
      No they did not provide any business requirement document. I guess it’s my deliverable to gathering requirements and create a BRD

    • @theagilebusinessanalyst
      @theagilebusinessanalyst  Рік тому

      @@nida7379 Based on your information that you use Scrum and you did not receive a business requirement document or anything related;
      I guess your job will be to gather requirements. Yes, maybe they told you already what the system should do, but you need it more concrete.
      Meaning which Functionalities should the system have? What are the acceptance criteria for this functionalities? Are there special conditions or exceptions?
      You will have to gather these requirements, e.g. via user stories, put them into the backlog and via sprints deliver a couple of features and show them to the stakeholders. And with each iteration come closer to the expectations your stakeholders have. Hope that helps :)

    • @theagilebusinessanalyst
      @theagilebusinessanalyst  2 роки тому +4

      No. In general they don‘t. We try to build solutions on concept level, not on code level. But being fluent in a programming language can help understanding developers better.
