  • "Mariupol. Reconstruction" is a film about a lost city. Svetlana Lishchinskaya, the director of the film, was born in Mariupol. She shares her memories and tells the story behind her relationship with the city. Svetlana meets refugees from Mariupol to reminisce with them about what the city was like before it was destroyed by Russian troops. The people in the film are those, thanks to whom the city flourished and developed, people who put all their soul into the city, and when Russia decided to "liberate" Mariupol, these people found themselves without a city and without a home. There are only scraps of footage and photos from the survivors’ phones that remain from the past, which were not deleted during the filtration processes. The director, along with the participants in the film are experiencing a loss. This movie is very personal. It is a farewell film. It's a director's ode to a murdered homeland.
