😍 I have watched all three videos you have made about this yarn!! I thank you for making them and I appreciate your time and determined creativity on this last video and for sharing it with us.
Thank you for sharing. I did almost everything in my squares the way you instructed, but I was having problems with my squares cupping. I resolved this issue by turning the squares and crocheting in the opposite direction for each row. My squares laid perfectly flat with that adjustment. Also, I would love to see the finished product. I love the colors you chose.
That is so funny, my mom can't stand a "holey" blanket, either. She and my sister say blankets with lots of holes do nothing to keep you warm! LOL! I totally hear you, I hope this square fits the bill. Very few holes and can be made "tighter" if need be....just have to make your own adjustments. TYSM!
This is awesome, my dad recently bought me one of these yarn thingy and I've spent the last week looking for a nice not-so-hole-ish pattern. I gotta say my first granny square came out super pretty, thank you!
Hands down the best tutorial to watch if you wanna learn how to make a cute granny square AND you also just got the granny square yarn. Went through 4 other videos before I found this one, you're amazing ❤❤❤🎉
Oh my gosh oh my gosh!! I bought this yarn just a couple weeks ago when I learned to crochet! I love what you created 😍 could you do a newbie beginner tutorial of this same type of square? Some bits are just hard to follow as a complete beginner 🥵
I had already made some adjustments in hook size, tension and stitch counts on the original pattern. Did all but 2 of the blocks that are yielded from a skein then found your variation. I like it much better. And their way of the starting with chain 6 is kind of hokey in my world too. Now do I like this enough to take out the other 12 and redo? I think I just might have to. Thanks much for this. Love it.
Wow thank you for taking the time to figure this out and share it. Ive seen a few videos about this yarn, but this is the first one thats made me want to go buy some.
Wow, that's so kind! TY!! I do have a few videos on this yarn, in this one I make a 3D flower type granny: ua-cam.com/video/pZBITETK73M/v-deo.html Thanks, again!!!
I LOVE this video and you like a sister!!! A most excellent tutorial!!! Thank you for sharing the technique and pattern as well as introducing the new yarn to us!!! Job Well Done!!! Much love and many Blessings!!!
I have tried the granny pattern with this yarn over and over, and it has never worked out. Thank you for posting this, I FINALLY have a square that came out right!!
Wow, that is the BEST thing I could ever hear (well, not that you struggled with the original granny pattern)! I am so happy you tried it. I tried to create this square in a way that has some "give" in case people crochet in a tight or loose way...I hope that helped. For me, it worked up so easily and so well. I'm making the cowl video right now! (: TYSM, you made my day!
Love this pattern. Beautiful. I watched you work intently two times to learn this pattern. I learned a lot from your video. I prefer this pattern to instructions on label of the granny square yarn. Thanks, I’m ready to try it.
Thank you so much I impulsively bought too much of this yarn and don’t wanna return it so thank you so much for this video, definitely got a single square after 3 hours but I finally understand better
You have a great idea! I have been doing the regular squares as per Red Heart instructions but eliminating the ch 1 inbetween the 3DC clusters. It basically worked for me. Had to so some sl st to use up some color at times but will definitely try your method on my next project! Thanks
Thank you for your innovative ideas which works beautifully but I had to laugh as well 😊 I will try to remember the humble slip stitch to bail me out. Great stuff. !!
I like the strategies you employ here! Smart use of this unique yarn. I would suggest trying double crochet stitches between the corners on round 4 (cherry pink) instead of half double crochet in order to use up more of that color yarn. It will still be a square. I need to find some of this yarn.
Girl, I tried all kinds of different stitch heights and combos. This was the best I came up with, but I do encourage folks to try their own heights and spaces. It may work for you. Going from hdc to dc or dc to tc sometimes made it so there wasn't enough even though initially there was an overage. Each little loop and pull (in total) made a huge difference at the end of the variegation. I think I talked through some of those "struggles." TY!!
@@VianneyCreates Oh, man--I hear you! But kuddos to you for figuring out a strategy that worked. Using up excess with slip stitches is GENIUS. You're a problem solver!
I could not get the pattern on the wrapper to work, so I resorted to my original pattern of clusters of 3, with one chain on each corner. I use a 4.50mm hook and apart from 1 stitch on the final cluster, the colour change works perfectly.
I am having so much fun trying other squares with the same yarn. I have another ready to go...a 3D flower type square. It is soooo cute! Will share tomorrow or the next day. TY!!
I haven't seen the new all in one granny square yarn at Walmart yet which is weird. But I'm from a small town and it takes a while for new yarns to come into small town Walmarts though but I want to try the yarn but I'll just get made with the yarn cause the colors have to line up each time when crocheting and trying to make it work each time and sewing the squares together to make a blanket which I've never done before.
If you start with 12DC, Ch1 it works fine and you don't have to fight to keep an even number of clusters around--it stays 12 if you work in the ch1 spaces.
I typed it out! Lmk if I made any mistakes! 1st round: ch3, 11 double crochets 2nd round, ch3, 11 puff stitches, optional ch1 after each puff stitch 3rd round: ch3 1/2 cluster stitch, 11 clusters, ch1 after each 4th round: 2 ss over to blank space. To make the corner: 3 dc, ch3 3dc, 3hdc ch1 x2. Make another corner. Repeat until complete 5th round: Ss to corner. 3 dc ch2 3dc in corner space, 3 dc in every space, repeat first steps for each corner space, ss to close
Thank you for typing this. I really like the pattern and she seams sweet. The over talking and sharing had my anxiety up to much to be able to finish the video. I’m not trying to be mean at all so please no one come attacking me. There are just certain things that bother people differently and someone over sharing and over explaining and them some is just something that I have a hard time with. But I liked 👍 the video and will check out others of her.
TY! I'm sorry, I just repeated it a bunch hoping folks can write it down themselves. I adapted a classic sunburst granny for this, so unless someone wrote down what I said...it's not out in the world written down.
I will definitely try and do that...I assume you mean join as you go with the last round? Not like I did in my balaclava video where I added a round with a different skein for joining?
That’s what the pause button is for, so you can follow along. You can also slow down the speed of the video using the tool button in the upper right corner.
If something is "worth it" is an individual perception, I think. I got my skeins for around $5, and that's great...$12 on Yarnspirations site...no way. Yes, everyone crochets differently (even the stitches themselves)...like yarn over or yarn under and variations there for the actual stitch. Tension, always different. They probably found an average of what folks normally do...there is a lot of "fudging" to make the Red Heart granny square pattern work. I have several videos on it, and my first was a review where I talked about all of these things. My patterns work up in. away that some "fudge" factor is built in. I've heard great feedback. Have a great day!!
This is true but I front load the tutorial with lots of info I wanted to express bc the crochet community can be rough! LOL! It's like you have to give every detail about a design and how you arrived at it.
This yarn is not for me. Too much work. The concept is a good one, but it’s just too much work. I make grannies to relax, I don’t want to think too much about it. Not only that, I like to add my own colors, I don’t like for all of the squares to look exactly the same. Nope not gonna buy it.
Thanks for sharing. This is my favorite version of granny square that I've seen done with the new all in one yarn so far.
You are so welcome! That is so kind of you to say, TY! (:
Thank you for this video! I like this pattern so much more than the basic granny square! Thanks for doing all the leg work. 😊
That is so kind, TYSM! I love this one, too! It all worked up really well!
I've just started to crochet again & I'm so happy to have found your channel! I enjoy your teaching style. New subscriber!
That is so kind, thank you! I hope to make more crochet videos soon!
😍 I have watched all three videos you have made about this yarn!! I thank you for making them and I appreciate your time and determined creativity on this last video and for sharing it with us.
That is so very kind! Thank you so much for the encouragement!

Glad it helped! Love your solution for your squares. So, I used 4 squares to make a super chunky cowl: ua-cam.com/video/He9LqXsH5A4/v-deo.html TYSM!
Love this granny square better than the one the yarn has with it. Thank you!❤
That is so kind, I have already heard from a few people who have tried it and had success! That makes me so very happy! TYSM!
I love this yarn. Im so glad you took the time to work with it.
That is so kind, thank you!!
Thank you. Thank you. This is my first time making a granny square. Looks so much prettier than the basic one. I used a j hook and was perfect ❤
I was hoping that a new pattern would be discovered. That original granny square is too holey.
That is so funny, my mom can't stand a "holey" blanket, either. She and my sister say blankets with lots of holes do nothing to keep you warm! LOL! Thanks for doing the work I was too lazy to do! Looks great!!!

Love this pattern. Beautiful. I watched you work intently two times to learn this pattern. I learned a lot from your video. I prefer this pattern to instructions on label of the granny square yarn. Thanks, I’m ready to try it.
That's so great! It's nice and repetitive, once you make one you'll crank the others out very easily! (: Have fun & TYSM!
Oh I love this. So fun to watch. Hugs
This is fantastic! Thank you for experimenting with this yarn and figuring out the count for this pattern!
Thank you so much I impulsively bought too much of this yarn and don’t wanna return it so thank you so much for this video, definitely got a single square after 3 hours but I finally understand better

Great, thanks for letting me know. I hope it worked out for you! 👍
How would you do a triangle instead of the square?
good job. thanks for trying this for me.

Thank you for this video! How many squares did you get from a skein?
TY! It has been a while since this video, but it's whatever the package says...11 or 14? I don't recall right now.
This is fantastic ❤
Thank you for the information. It's very helpful 😊
Glad it was helpful! TYSM for commenting and stopping by! Have fun!!
Once getting to the row to line up I'd cut the left over dark purple color and tie the orange color to then like it all up
The point of the yarn is to not have to weave in ends, that's why I made it work continuously.
If you start with 12DC, Ch1 it works fine and you don't have to fight to keep an even number of clusters around--it stays 12 if you work in the ch1 spaces.
Of course! As I said, whatever you like to do...do that! Just keep it consistent throughout.
Did you use a J,K or I hook? I usually stay in those hook sizes In crocheting
Do I have to have a super long yarn tail when starting to crochet the square?
I showed all of that info...I know you had several questions...it's all in the video. TY!
I typed it out! Lmk if I made any mistakes!
1st round: ch3, 11 double crochets
2nd round, ch3, 11 puff stitches, optional ch1 after each puff stitch
3rd round: ch3 1/2 cluster stitch, 11 clusters, ch1 after each
4th round: 2 ss over to blank space. To make the corner: 3 dc, ch3 3dc, 3hdc ch1 x2. Make another corner. Repeat until complete
5th round:
Ss to corner. 3 dc ch2 3dc in corner space, 3 dc in every space, repeat first steps for each corner space, ss to close

I love this pattern better than the original. Not as holey
That is so kind, thank you! That's the most common feedback, the original pattern is kind go big and holey...not very warm!
This is amazing- thank you! Did anyone write this pattern out?
TY! I'm sorry, I just repeated it a bunch hoping folks can write it down themselves. I adapted a classic sunburst granny for this, so unless someone wrote down what I said...it's not out in the world written down.
@@VianneyCreates I’ll try to write it out! I always need to re-check the pattern on the next couple of squares until I get it!
Can you do a join-as-you-go video with this yarn too?
I will definitely try and do that...I assume you mean join as you go with the last round? Not like I did in my balaclava video where I added a round with a different skein for joining?
Yes indeed. ❤
What is a size I hook , in millimeters?
Maybe google that, I don't recall off the top of my head. TY!!
It's a 5.5mm I/9 in the video
Did you write this down. Very confusing for us that count nice granny square
I did not, I'm sorry. I think I spoke about that in the video.

WHAT I WANT TO KNOW..... IS IT WORTH IT!? NOT EVERYONE CROCHETS THE SAME TENSION

So? It’s easy to change your tension. Just pick a smaller or larger hook.

too much chatter. Get on with it please.
