Hi. Nice video! 👍 I recently found a copy selling online, but it does not have any stamping on the bottom showing where it was made like yours where it says Hong Kong. It makes me doubt if I should buy it. Other than this detail, the camera looks fine to me.
Helo Dave. I have one since 1978 and I love this camera. But I find it a little difficult to focus when there is low light. This also happens to you?. And I still have the original battery. It is a Varta V 164 PX 5.6 V. PHOTO SPECIAL. They haven't made them for many years because they contained mercury. . 😥😥😥 Thanks for share.
Hi, I just got an electro, but it’s not operating at all. The battery light doesn’t come on either. Do you have any idea what’s wrong with it or what i can do?
Just had this issue. Your batteries are dead. They no longer make the original battery, but you can use a CR123 along with 2 LR44s. They add to the correct voltage and fit in the space correctly
It can now take a small 6v with a stainless steel adapter. Got mine from an ebay seller in the UK. There is also a seller from Spain selling on ebay also.
I got a completely working mint condition one for $50, complete with 5 extra batteries and two filter lenses, also 3 unexposed film rolls a flash and flash cable and a great condition case. Only thing I needed was an adapter, which I already had
Mine was my grandfather's, I found it a couple of days ago and and it sparked my interest in film photography, mine tooled to be in extremely good condition, it had a leather case and strap, but there was 2 problems, I don't know how to use it, and the battery was corded and apparently they do t make that kind of battery anymore. So if you could tell me how you get a working batter for that thing it would be great, and where to get film and where to get film developed.
@@dstriker2094 can you see down the hole? If you can you can bend a paperclip and make a hook to pull on the catch. That will open the door so you can try to repair it. But you need a replacement rewind knob. Even if you open the door and load film you will have light leaks and won’t be able to rewind the film anyways.
What happens if you use it without battery? What about the shutter speed? I was on the country without any chance of getting a new battery and I snapped a whole film without battery. Don't really know what could be wrong. I will develop it as soon as I get a chance.
The camera will fire at the fastest speed without a battery. 1/500 of a second. If you use 400iso film and use sunny 16 then it should be ok in bright light.
yup das me it all depends on how bright you indoor shot is. I would set it to 1.7 if you are indoors without flash. Just to get the most light possible. But even at 1.7 you will probably still get the slow light. If you have to shoot indoors and there isn’t much light then I would use a tripod.
tks. mine had similar issue with battery not touching, i used yiur trick and works now. a question for u, lightseals, use or not, if so where to put them?
I found a Yashica and Minolta camera at a swapmeet like 10 years ago maybe. I thought they looked really cool and thought i can use as everyday camera just for fun. At the time i paid like $45 for both together. They told me they worked. I dont know anything about old school cameras like these and i cant find anything on the Yashica one to try them out today. But at the time i tried using them and im 100% sure they both dont work. I just have them sitting in the closet im camera bags :( i wish i knew what is wrong with them
# 119 It can be off horizontally or vertically and both have adjustment screws that can be accessed with the top cover removed. I assume you mean vertical (up/down) alignment, which doesn’t effect focus.
No, the grid isn't electronic Check your battery; flip the camera over and use a coin (a nickel works best) to unscrew the bottom hatch Three things can happen: The best: there's no battery in it The okay: there's a (dead) battery in it The bad: there's a corroded battery in it If there's no battery, that's perfect. Just make sure to exercise the shutter and self timer frequently until your battery (and battery adapter***) arrives. If there's a battery, just take it out and hope there isn't any corrosion and reference the steps above. If there's a corroded battery, you'll have to do some fixing.
Any 35mm or as its also called 135 format film will work with this camera. 120 film will not fit in this camera. A really good and not to expensive film I like to recommend is Kodak Ultramax 400. Thanks your stopping by and let me know if you have any more questions.
I just purchased this camera for about $200, without lens cover, but with the leather bag, no plastic protector on hot shoe and bottom does not have any text printed or engraved. Im not sure if the shutter works, because the shutter sounds very soft, but yours does too, but another problem is, the aperture is not moving if I move the dial, so what am I doing wrong? It came with 3 silver batteries, but I guess they're used up.

@@DaveMontejano you're welcome! I can't wait to try it!!
Search for a yashica 50mm 1.7 dsm on m42 mount. You can use it on canon
Sad that these now go for 5 times what you paid. There’s plenty around this price point that say “untested” so they are listed as parts only which scares me. At this point I’m expecting to pay $150-$200 for a fully functional clean copy. You really lucked out! Seems like a wonderful camera.
Insane how much prices have gone up.
Damn for real? I just bought one as well and its basically in mint condition and still works as well for 36$. But i bought mine in Denmark as well where there might not be as many film camera enthusiasts or something i dont know or i was just super lucky again. I hope you luck out my friend and find a good cheap one yourself!
just found one on marketplace for $20 .. dont know yet if it works. waiting for battery and film and i'll have to clean it up a bit. Thanks for this video, though it is lovely
Thanks! The shutter button of my camera has been down for years. Is it possible for the button to return to its previous state if I put a battery in it?
Hi.
Nice video! 👍
I recently found a copy selling online, but it does not have any stamping on the bottom showing where it was made like yours where it says Hong Kong.
I got one for $20 at a garage sale in great condition
Hi, I just got an electro, but it’s not operating at all. The battery light doesn’t come on either. Do you have any idea what’s wrong with it or what i can do?
Just had this issue. Your batteries are dead. They no longer make the original battery, but you can use a CR123 along with 2 LR44s. They add to the correct voltage and fit in the space correctly
I got the GSN for 80 bucks it came with a case instead of a lense cap and it didn't have a battery with power in it but I plan to just get a new one
Do you know what battery the Yashica 35 uses? I appreciate the help.
You can rig your own adapter with a chapstick shell and lr44 batteries. There are a couple good videos and forums out there for this. Best of luck!
It can now take a small 6v with a stainless steel adapter. Got mine from an ebay seller in the UK. There is also a seller from Spain selling on ebay also.
Battery = Exell A32PX. eBay - No adapter needed
is it normal that the aperture blades doesn't move when I play around the aperture ring?
Very helpful! I’m about to shoot a roll with mine!
So if you could tell me how you get a working batter for that thing it would be great, and where to get film and where to get film developed.
you can find a battery adapter in amazon
Is there any way to fix the part where you pull up to open it? My camera is missing that piece.
Yeah you would need a spare part. The whole rewind knob is missing or just the small arm that folds up?
@@DaveMontejano just the top part where you pull it is missing I'm not able to open the back
@@dstriker2094 can you see down the hole? If you can you can bend a paperclip and make a hook to pull on the catch. That will open the door so you can try to repair it. But you need a replacement rewind knob. Even if you open the door and load film you will have light leaks and won’t be able to rewind the film anyways.
@@DaveMontejano yes there is a silver rod that sticks out when I flip over the camera hard to pull it up
@@DaveMontejano I just inherited a 1939 Argus c3 camera as well glad to say it works beautifully hoping I can fix the Yashica
What happens if you use it without battery? What about the shutter speed? I was on the country without any chance of getting a new battery and I snapped a whole film without battery. Don't really know what could be wrong. I will develop it as soon as I get a chance.
Without a battery the camera will fire at 1/500 for every shot. Good luck with your pictures and thanks for stopping by!
@@DaveMontejano Thanks for the answer. Love your channel.
what if the battery doesnt work? Is it completely necessary for the camera to work?
The camera will fire at the fastest speed without a battery. 1/500 of a second. If you use 400iso film and use sunny 16 then it should be ok in bright light.
What about focus? I think the viewfinder in mine isn’t working properly.
Where did you buy the transparent hot shoe cover? Get you provide info? Thank you.
Joey Yrastorza it was already on the camera when I bought it.
when I set the aperture speed to the highest setting, only slow lights up? do you know why?
yup das me are you Indoors? Or outside?
Buster Photo I am usually indoors but I want to test it outside too. What would be the best camera setting for indoors versus being outdoors?
yup das me it all depends on how bright you indoor shot is. I would set it to 1.7 if you are indoors without flash. Just to get the most light possible. But even at 1.7 you will probably still get the slow light. If you have to shoot indoors and there isn’t much light then I would use a tripod.
The atomic symbol means electronic - represents electrons
tks. mine had similar issue with battery not touching, i used yiur trick and works now. a question for u, lightseals, use or not, if so where to put them?
Awesome vid man thanks been looking at getting one good luck on your channel...new sub
decipher5121 thank you very much!
Were you ever able to open the battery door? I just got my camera and it won’t turn on.
Can this work without a battery? Cause I'm hesitant to get one because I don't think I'll find a battery for it.
It will only fire at the fastest speed without a battery. So yes and no.
And does the flash need a battery? Also, should I get it or are there better alternatives?
@@ayaaahmed4677 this camera does not have a flash.
My father have the original one he bought it 35 years ago or more
on my mg-1 if I press the shutter just a bit, "over" always lights up, and if I press harder then "slow" lights up .. what does that mean?
I think I may have loaded the film wrong by not inserting into the second slot. Will the film still work properly?
I have a yashica yk, how do you get the film out of it. I’m the bottom of my camera is a dial with a and r do I turn that dial to r.
do i need a dark room for this camera?
I found a Yashica and Minolta camera at a swapmeet like 10 years ago maybe. I thought they looked really cool and thought i can use as everyday camera just for fun. At the time i paid like $45 for both together. They told me they worked. I dont know anything about old school cameras like these and i cant find anything on the Yashica one to try them out today. But at the time i tried using them and im 100% sure they both dont work. I just have them sitting in the closet im camera bags :( i wish i knew what is wrong with them
what wrong with them both?
Is it normal or okay for the dot/focus to not completely line up in the viewfinder?
# 119 It can be off horizontally or vertically and both have adjustment screws that can be accessed with the top cover removed.
I assume you mean vertical (up/down) alignment, which doesn’t effect focus.
excuse me, where did you find the proper batteries? couldn't find those anywhere
You need an adapter
@@tommyr1066 I don’t if you are going to see this but what do you mean adapter?
Hi can i use this camera without battery?
You can but not really. Without a battery it will only fire at 1/500. Only useful if you shoot with sunny 16 rule and 400 iso film.
Camera of my dreams
My grandpa owns one and he gave it to me so I can sell it :)
does it mean the camera is working if I see the grid when looking in the view finder but the slow and over do not light up?
No, the grid isn't electronic
Check your battery; flip the camera over and use a coin (a nickel works best) to unscrew the bottom hatch
Three things can happen:
The best: there's no battery in it
The okay: there's a (dead) battery in it
The bad: there's a corroded battery in it
If there's no battery, that's perfect. Just make sure to exercise the shutter and self timer frequently until your battery (and battery adapter***) arrives. If there's a battery, just take it out and hope there isn't any corrosion and reference the steps above.
If there's a corroded battery, you'll have to do some fixing.
What type of batteries does the camera take? i have my uncles and ive been trying to understand the camera for a while now, very helpful video
Battery = Exell A32PX. eBay - No adapter needed
When I press the shutter button halfway always slow light appears. How can I fix this ? :(
Cost of this camera
That’s a beautiful 📸. Great vid!
i’m encountering the same problem with the battery door, what exactly did you do with the foil to fix the connection?
me too!!
whats the best film to use for this camera?
Any 35mm or as its also called 135 format film will work with this camera. 120 film will not fit in this camera. A really good and not to expensive film I like to recommend is Kodak Ultramax 400. Thanks your stopping by and let me know if you have any more questions.
Is the lens fixed or removable? If removable, what's the mount?
It’s a fixed lens.
Where can I buy this from
I just purchased this camera for about $200, without lens cover, but with the leather bag, no plastic protector on hot shoe and bottom does not have any text printed or engraved.
Im not sure if the shutter works, because the shutter sounds very soft, but yours does too, but another problem is, the aperture is not moving if I move the dial, so what am I doing wrong? It came with 3 silver batteries, but I guess they're used up.
It sounds like you got swindled. My advice would be to return it and get something else
@@oversharingturtle4462 very much possible. I noticed the shutter open and close but from the back, inside the film compartment. Since im totally new to this camera, i might have to test it with an expired roll
You got taken for a ride bro, sorry
It's a great camera but you can get mint condition E35s for ~$60
Nice video. I have two of these, and one does say Made in Japan, and the other in Hong Kong. Very nice copy.
i really want to buy it cause i want to learn more abt photography but i cant cause im poor
