They called Dean the Manukau express at carlaw park in auckland he had a lot of drive to beat his man,if you watch that 1985 1st test against aussie and he stood Gary Jack up then ran around him and Jack was no slouch shit he was the Aussie fullback for years to come and i dont think anyone else ever did that again.
they called him mean dean yeah mean to young fans as on 2 occasions he was mean to me as a kid which broke my heart ill never doubt that he was a good player and a good captain but he was very rude to me when I met him at haigh hall and at the riverside club not always a nice man learn some respect.
