- In this video we get to work on the last of the major fabrication on the chassis of the Datsun. We can now hopefully start welding everything in for good!

Hi Ryan, as again, your work is inspiring and creative. Just a thought though, could you please remove, or cover the corners and sharp edges on the flat sheet you have in as the boot floor ; it is a lethal eye opening hazard / obstruction and at eye level when you are kneeling. My Late Uncle was a panel beater and lost his left eye on something protruding like this. Just worried about your personal safety.
That Datsun. The work you take on is incredible.
If I wasn’t so impressed by the levels of skill and craftsmanship. I’d have to ask why not a donor. After all this deterioration.
It's to entertain us, and they're getting good viewer figures too.
You are doing the Lord’s work keeping that ZX on the road. I owned one of these 25 years ago - and it was old then 😂 love seeing this car get a new lease of life!
Its a Z not a ZX. S30 chassis
When can we expect another video on this car?
You've come so far....hate to not see it through
At some point you just gotta say, "damn why am I beating my head against a wall for a four seater z"! When I get overwhelmed with the amount of rust in my 510, I just watch these videos... 😂😂😂 Truly though, it's interesting to watch your guys' skills, and knowledge. But damn that thing is a DISASTER
I so looooooove this channel faaaarrrkkknnn!
G'day from downunder Australia! 😍
Thanks for the video. Great job! Datsun is coming together nicely.👍🍻
Hey, starting to miss you guys, hope all is well.
Thank you for the concern :) yes all is well just got a few things going off atm that will soon be apparent :) all good things :)
You are a master of your trade, who would tackle a job like this unless a magician in his trade,no ordinary skills would accomplish this total rebuild/remanufacturing
Absolutely awesome job Ryan & Steve well done lads!
Quel artiste !!! Bravo et courage pour la suite !! Merci !!!
Wow. The detail is awesome.
I love too watch this cannel , there aproch how thy do there repairs great job guys see you the next time.
amazing bit of custom work rian
What was it the seller said was needed to be fixed? A bit of floor repair?
More of this format, please. Thanks for dies video
Finally coming together after all your hard work...can't wait to see all the fabrication done... hopefully you will do some vlogs on the body prep for paint...👍👍
I can’t imagine this ever becoming a good looking and good driving car ever again!!!
Its not going to be standard, unfortunately. That does make the job easier though, as they can make it up as they go along. Serious skills though.
It would appear tacking body panels together is not the same as running beads on thick box section ! "Quick pass me the grinder ,it looks dog rough "
Enjoying the videos in this series. Will there be some on the orange BMW csi?
@@tomthompson7400exactly, you watch a 15min YT video and think you know the full process, but what do you know.
@@tomthompson7400 simple, you cant jigg something that is a pile of rust and filler. Look at the points, you would jigg it at, they are gone. It is not a problem to straighten it after welding it up, so it will stick to the shape.
Great work. This is going to be one very strong motor. It reminds me of a saloon stock car I built in the 80’s. Ooops, showing my age there!
Absolutely brilliant and outstanding have been following the Disaster Datsun since the start. Have mentioned Yorkshire car restoration on other videos. Steve is going to have an amazing car once completed. Well done, guy's great channel. Am enjoying the saga with patches. And the Rs2000,YCR, are going from strength to strength with every restoration ❤
Heart goes out to ya Ryan lad she is a beast ! 🇬🇧🙏🏻😉👍🏻
Great fabrication work Ryan, and glad you’re putting gussets on those diagonal joints to the horizontals… I assume that’s where you’re putting them. All the time watching this evolve I’m thinking you’ll need gussets on those joints to reduce the bending moment and stress concentration on those joints.
Brilliant channel guys 👍🏻👍🏻🇬🇧
brilliant solid work guys, great educational video
amazing i admire your determination to make a car out of this.
Respect you are doing this on a 2+2😂 . It will be a nice Datsun when its all done and painted
the upol banner in the background behind the datsun is funny
Great job mate 💪🏻
Top work Ryan
Heavens above ..... this car has gone from unibody to pure body on frame. 1/8th " square tube ..... no crumple zones there. The disaster Datsun would make a brilliant banger racer. With that amount of "barring up" it would be declared illegal as it would cream anything in its way. Love your work.
In todays world recon it's the only way forward. Have you seen the damage Elon's Electric truck does when someone acidentally runs into them?
Elons drives away with barely a scratch, while the other vehicle becomes a wright off.
@@steveveness3829you really think Teslas aren't paper thin aluminum? Even the Cyber truck, with its stainless steel is probably paper thin. It's not that they are tough, it's that they are so damn heavy they are a hazard to everything else on the road. All the momentum has to go somewhere, and usually it's into the lighter and more reasonably priced vehicle.
@@jwalster9412 I think a big ram truck with headlights near the windscreen is kinda a good indication of a tank☺️
After all they do have a fairly beafy chasis under them. Yet only a scratch on the cyber truck tail gate was present. And aren't rams about 4 tonnes of vehicle?🤔
@@steveveness3829 do you have any proof that you are not making this up? Because it honestly sounds pretty fake.
@@jwalster9412 I saw a youtube video of the after marth in America only a couple of days ago.
Top work Steve too
Hello 👋 good buddy Ryan captain yorkshire 👍 omg man I love this video I love the frame you made for it that's what I have been wanting to do to the jaguar I've been wanting to get a square tubular frame I love that gusset you made for the back out of this world good im visiting my brother and we are watching it..I know I wrote a book 📖 on Instagram but I was letting you know how everything is the way it is with me one story leads to another one and I wrote a book I know you don't have time to read it my friend sorry for the rambling take care and God bless
Thanks for doing my request lads
Looking forward to the next instalment, looking really good so far! What are the wide arches you're going putting on it originally for and where did you get them?
love a good gusset
Don’t you just the word Gusset.
Nice work both o& you.
So glad your back at it, I though you might of been defeated :)
Looking forward to seeing one of your projects being completed and you handing back to the customer. Do you or will you be doing a cost breakdown? I for one would like to see that and I'm sure most of your other subscibers would too. My favourite restoration/rebuild channels on UA-cam all do this and it's a very interesting part of the process.
As has bee said lots of times. The opel manta is done the red e24 is done the mx5 rusteration is done and uto aleaxes e30 is almost done.
I'm not a mechanic by any means. Just an amature. I just discovered metal cutting wheel that is better than composition cut off wheels. It is by the brand Diablo (sorry Father in Heaven), it's Italian with carbide tips. Cuts very well and lasts a while.
I see Rosco overseeing your work. Does he ever tell you it is great or just sits there staring? Thumbs Up!
It would have been a lot cheaper to buy another car. I know here in the States, those cars in good condition are not that expensive. The labor cost here prevents anyone from doing that sort of repair unless the owner does it himself.
It’s a YCR vehicle and they’re going it to build a car for themselves and to showcase what they can do.
Can you share your overall vision for this project. I find myself always asking ... just why ... although the work is cool. It is putting the Y(why) in Yorkshire.
This reminds me of the Johhny Cash song, I built it one piece at a time !!!
Nice e30 M3 in the background
Good work again, Gusset ? Anyone would think it a Ford Corset lol
I have always wondered about flash rusting on this project, I wondered if you protected panels short term with anything otherwise flash routing just keeps happening.
Thank you
Noticed you aren't welding in sleeves between the joins on the rails? Is that recommended?
Triggers datsun.
Hi Ryan could you tell me what make your magnetic led work light is, I’ve seen you use and abuse them and I’m looking to invest in some for my toolbox ?… cheers
This is really proving to b a disaster Ryan, sheesh,gl!👏🏼👌👍💪💪💪
May as well 4 link a Ford 9inch at this point.
I don’t see that original Datsun diff mount staying in much longer 😂😂😂
Unbelievable, in the end you have fabricated a completely new car, and painted a new 'Dali' as well.
How do you seal the inner side of the new longitudinal beams?
Yes crumple zones very important most companies are required by government just like laminated windshield and side windows. Crumple zones are designed to specifically to dissipate the energy of a collision and reduce the impact on the human body inside it. You may have more crash injury like dash smashing your legs, etc., but I’ll be wiped out from internal injuries when the seat belt stops me immediately with no reduction of the energy of the crash hence the importance of airbags. In essence I am the crumple zone. But to be honest its not my car I'm just a viewer.
This car is not going back on the road. It will be a show car for them, used as an example to showcase what they can do for customers.
Yes I completely understand and agree. And I have been watching this channel for years I understand how they do and what they do. I am a level 3 certified welder, instructor and fabricator. I've worked with BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Ford, Chevrolet, and Volkswagen. My comments just saying if they are planning on road use then crumple zones are very important not that they're going to have to put in their design.
I just came, after 53 videos, to this one and I`m longing to know how the disaster went on up to now. When the next episode of this catastrophy will be released? 😁
I like the Datsun restauration.
Tell me please, the title of the music. I like it allso
PLEASE MORE DISASTER DATSUN!!!
Did Theseus own this Datsun? I mean by now you're better off just building a new one. 😅
Hello, whats your opinion on dinitrol products ?
Thanks you
Plasma table on the way maybe?
Import a fairly good one from South Africa... going to be cheaper and much easier. Strip both and make one good car...just a thought.😊
I can’t wait until this is at the stage we’re no more rust exists - 2030 maybe?
This is the 101 rebuilding a car, one rust patch at a time
Would the purchase of a rotisserie make it easier to work on the underside of the car?
We have several rotisseries but this dosnt need to back on one yet.
Hi guys. That body is strong enough to receive a 350Z engine...
top men
This car must surely be more repair then original by now haha
Nice work! Haven't tried the Dinitrol, but Brunox is doing magic, even lasting over a winter all by itself as an emergency underbody "stop salt" in some last-minute found spots.
By the way, what primer brand are you using ?
When is the next mat armstrong s24 video
Out of interest, what is the reason you were rolling your wrist on some of the welding?
We dnt seem to have had a mat Armstrong bmw video for ages whats happened to that?
It's coming be patiant. We sometimes have to wait for items to continue. Just like the lj80 we have been waiting for engine rebuild parts and hard to come by parts to finish the build.
Wish i could find a car that i really want and let you two guys restore it, (had i the £££££ that is) incidentally it's only a Datsun 120y.
Chop chop
Obviously not going back to stock.... what's next, an LS swap?
But isn't that patchwork what you are doing? Not in the bad way, but still from small peaces?
I reckon this comes from
Too Rusty, is it even worth saving?
You wouldnt let Ryan paint your bathroom
I wish i could afford to bring you my car to get it rust free
Well I am enjoying the work on this car but you guys are going to put 100k in labor into it before its done.
Tu n'as jamais pensé à investir dans un tournebroche ?... Tu serais plus à l'aise .
Have you ever thought about investing in a rotisserie?... You would be more comfortable.
I would rather not Disgusset.
I mean I love the content, but surely at some point you've got to ask yourself why !?!
Just because you can doesn't mean you should. 😂
All sorts of Moby Dick and Capt. Ahab vibes going on.
Any one else spot the E30 M3
Not feeling this build.
I got disappointed the moment they cut out the beautifully crafted and fitted wheel arches to widen them and install a flat floor. I was really hoping to see a full resto, particularly the spare slot in the boot.
That car is honestly not worth the effort. You either have an idiot for a client, or you're charging too little for your skills.
The ‘client’ is Ryan’s dad, Steve if I have followed it correctly, so definitely no idiot…….
@@peterstokes8631 Nobody has given a second thought to the Datsun 260Z since 1980 so that's debatable.
@@shedtime_au Assuming you are watching their videos, what an idiotic comment…….
I was going to thank you for the change in the background music until the 12:57 mark. Vocals are distracting. The instrumentals you and your dad use are nice. I appreciate the talent and attention to detail you exhibit. That is so very difficult to find in the present day. That being said, I am not listening to your music selections and I am not going to constantly tap the mute button. I find the vocals mind-numbing. I have decided me to move on. Unsubscribed 03/20/2024
For me all their choices are highlights. They never fight over vocals. Also, I’m not 100% sure they’re vocals. It may be all synthetic. Use Shazam to confirm.
We are sometimes confronted with this situation,i am too deep in this, can i stop?
Cómo sabes si las dimensiones de los miembros en esa estructura son suficientes?
1. Experience.
2. It’s not load bearing (once the floor near the rear axle was repaired). It’s just holding the rear bodywork.
