I did not click with this one -- but watching BremSter solve was simply awesome! I hardly ever remember to think about SET. Wow, what a fabulous puzzle!

The arrow and cage and tiny thermo disambiguators being clearly distinct from the quads and thermos for the opening was a nice little thing.

Rather than the second set of SET you could have just observed that R5C5 was a naked single 1 (sees all the other numbers) and then just used row and column logic to pencil mark the rest of R5 and C5. You're not wrong of course, just thought you might be interested in the alternative.

Wow! That was beautiful! That was an amazing puzzle! Without finding the break-in, it would have been so much harder.

    Wow what a puzzle.
Couldn't do it myself but enjoyed Bremster's solve.
    Nice puzzle by ProRock.
I think I need to learn more about SET lol.

Congratulations on an excellent solve, BremSter! I couldn't find the break-in, hence not surprised it is a 4* on LMD. 😅 Just watched your solve this time, really enjoyed it, thank you for that and to ProRock for an amazing puzzle!

I spent an hour trying to do it without set before almost giving up and trying set without much hope it would do anything. Of course it did and was easyish from there. A little disappointed you found the set immediately. I still thought it might be possible without set and I was missing something obvious.

Fantastic solve, and what a puzzle... WOW.
With the second SET you saved yourself quite a bit of scanning, that was a smart approach!

I need to watch your start to realise that this one is a set puzzle. Very beautiful logic indeed! 😎

I solved this in just under 65 minutes without ever using set. Just a bunch of x wings, pencil-marking, and eventually some deductions and coloring of 8s and 9s based on how the tips of the thermos interact with the top 5789 quad. After figuring out 8s and 9s the rest proceeded pretty naturally. I generally stay away from anything over 2 stars on LMD and found this to be within the range of difficulty that I can usually handle, so I feel like rating it a 4 stars is inconsistent with LMD's usual ratings (even for those who don't find the intended trick, like me).
It did take an hour and leave me fatigued, but that's also true of plenty of their "easy" puzzles.

I never found that break in. How you got to it so quickly mystifies me.

Sets are probably my weakest game. I never think to look for them and when I do, it's hard for me to grasp the best place to put them. I'm usually pretty good at seeing the big picture in things, but sets trip me up every time. I appreciate you helping get me started. Once I saw where the set was on your video, I had it from there.

Thank you for making this video with my puzzle and I'm glad you enjoyed it! That was in fact the second puzzle I've ever made)
4 stars is a little bit crazy, I agree, given that a SET you need to find is literally present in the puzzle name =)

Excellent puzzle and great solve! Solved it in 30:56. I agree that it is surprising that it was rated 4 stars. Even though without the particular break-in this would be extremely difficult, by now I think the expectation is that most people know these techniques.

    • @BremSterPuzzles
      @BremSterPuzzles  Місяць тому +3

I agree that most experienced solvers know these techniques, but I don't think difficulty should be based on what experienced people know.
If something is easy because experienced people know it, you are telling non-experienced people that they aren't welcome because "You can't do easy".
I personally feel this is a 4-star puzzle, I am just surprised that LMD rated it that hard.

This one was very difficult. Managed to get it done in one hour and a half, but only solved it with the help of Devil's Ring and a bit of casing.

Holy Molly, the first SET you used made more than half an hour of my solve go to waste, EVEN KEEPING IN MIND THE ERROR YOU DID!
