Out of all of the "what-if" scenarios out there in the tennis world, "What if Monica Seles had never been attacked" is one that I feel most tennis fans would agree, in that it would have drastically changed the landscape of women's tennis. Monica had Steffi Graf's number. Outside of Wimbledon, Graf couldn't beat her. She was winning titles and grand slams at a ridiculous rate. I'm not saying that Seffi wouldn't have figured out a strategy or turned the rivalry around at some point, but I don't think it would have happened right away regardless. She was only 20 when she was attacked.
She won 8 grand slam titles from Roland Garros 1990 to the Australian Open in 1993. That is insane. So I'm pretty comfortable in saying that had she not been attacked, Monica would have won another 8-10 grand slam titles over the next 5 years and possibly more. But one thing is certain. Steffi wouldn't have had nearly the amount that she had when she retired.
