Diamonds in the trees = dew on tree leaves glistening in the moonlight Pentagrams in the night sky = stars - the way we drew stars as children was actually just a pentagram
So when Vessel screams, I personally don't think it's being demonic; I almost interpret it as all this anger, frustration, and pain that's welling up inside. It comes bursting out and all you can do is let it happen because that's the only way you know how. Another song I HIGHLY enjoy that utilizes this is 'Vore'. This is why I love Sleep Token, they have given us an outlet to let go of all our pain. Worship.
@@pezdezpencil Absolutely! As someone rather constipated when it comes to the expression of anger and frustration, I feel a deep sense of relief, catharsis even listening to Vessel scream. Feels liberating like "Yo thanks, couldn't have said that better!" 😆 Harsh music has become my therapy. Although I have to say that Sleep Token really isn't that harsh. It's just really authentic and real. I would recommend Lorna Shore - To the Hellfire, but he will probably hate it very, very much 😅
There's a scream in the last part of the song actually, its buried pretty deep in the mix but you hear it better when they do it live. At least from what I've seen on TT x-x
IV's scream live is beeeeaaaauuutiful! I actually clipped his live scream and edited it into the studio recording, cuz I won't have it without that anymore 😀
I think for most metalheads there were songs too harsh, too heavy in the beginning. You get accustomed to it, build up a tolerance with each listen and before you know it you like it and might even want more 😄 Try THE APPARITION. Awesome vocals, a little rap and less harsh. It's too bad though you don't really enjoy the instrumental parts. II (two) the drummer is an absolute genius and really shines in those parts, lifting the whole music to next level imo
I think the best way to prepare your brain to listen to Sleep Token is that each track is like a movie you have visualise. That way the heavier parts don't jar you quite as bad.
@Lisato852 absolutely... a whole fricken library of personally visualized master pieces. They are masters of imagery through their lyrics and their musical choices. Those heavy, screaming parts add a depth to each track that emotes the chaos of Vessels experience with Sleep. I just friggin love these guys!
Their older discography doesn't have as many screams, though some it does have heavy instrumentals. It's more the new album where he screams in Ascensionism, The Summoning, Vore, and Take Me Back To Eden. There is no screaming on Tomb and only one song (Gods) on Sundowning where he screams. He also does a metal blegh in Higher and The Offrering. But if you're looking for more Sleep Token without the heavy vocals, I definitely recommending the EPs, the singles, and the first two albums.
What a fine day to Worship ❤ Edit: The entire catalogue is about a human relationship that obviously affected him poorly. All of the Sleep lore is just an allegory to that woman (or women? Unlikely multiple).
Try listening to Sugar. It is an earlier track. There is a heavier part, but it makes sense. It might help to explain the heavier parts in their songs in general. All Sleep Token songs are different, there is no song that sounds like another. I’m here for the whole journey! Worship
"Lipstick, chemtrails, red flags, pink nails with one eye on the door, other eye on a rail" I interpret chemtrails as substance abuse, and a rail meaning perhaps a line of a go-fast illegal white powder. There are references in other songs to her having a drinking problem and/or using drugs. In Granite, he says "between the second-hand smoke and the glass on the street, you gave me nothing whatsoever but a reason to leave" glass on the street like broken beer or liquor bottles. Their song "Nazareth" sounds very violent, but I fully believe it's a metaphor for using heroin, with lyrics like "let's load the gun" aka let's fill the syringe. "See if she can guess what a hollow point does to a naked body, let's fvck her up, manifest pain at the core of pleasure" the hollow point being the needle, fvck her up and pleasure as in being high. Etc. I think he writes a lot of very cryptic and brilliant metaphors for being in a toxic relationship, and loving an abusive addict. I'm really enjoying your Sleep Token reactions, I hope you keep reacting! I'll be here for each one. Worship 🫶🏻✨️
WTF does how a person shapes their vocal chords have to do with sounding "demonic"? 😂 Man, it's 2025 now. It's OK to step out of the dark ages when we thought there was any validity to any of these silly notions and step into the water of art appreciation. The water is fine! 😉

Pentagrams in the night sky = stars - the way we drew stars as children was actually just a pentagram
That actually makes so much sense!

Exactly…he doesn’t scream just for the sake of screaming…it’s the pain
Absolutely. I came to say the same thing. It’s all emotion.

"We're ascending" - me every time I put sleep token on
Do Take me back to Eden
Try aqua regia, its an absolute vibe
If you want chill sexy sleep token, then it has to be Aqua Regia, no substitute.
Not even close to demonic..... the screams are raw emotion and pain....
Sleep lore is apart of SLEEP TOKEN, but it's also about VESSEL'S past relationship. And please never say their names. True fans don't want to know❤❤❤
I think you would really enjoy their song Rain. It’s a vibe throughout. No screams but some amazing drumming.

II is an total beast. His Drumeo appearance was a masterclass. Totally worth checking out if you haven't already
"Pentagrams in the night sky... Demonic"
My guy. What is a pentagram? It's a star. Stars in the night sky.
Sleep Token has a weird yet wonderful way of combining 3 different genres into one song which I love

Oh, the collection of Sleep Token movies in my head~😂

Where in The Offering is the Blegh? I’ve never heard one and would love to lol
@@TeddyMcSpooks I'm very loosely arguing that his "take a bite" is a blegh lol. Incredibly loosely.
@ oh!!! I mean it’s definitely a growl haha!
Jaws and Euclid, chokehold and Vore are my GoTo Sleep Token songs.
What a fine day to Worship ❤

I took chemtrails to mean perfume but with them you never know
I think you may like Descending. Its one of my favorites
Apparition next my guy 🤘🏻🔥🍻
Oh no, it’s about to happen again! 😂
Chem trail probably refers to perfume
Great reaction! Dark sings or aqua regia might be more your lane
You gotta listen to Descending next, it's not very heavy and I'll reckon you'll love it!
Ugh. I love Sleep Token. TMBTE is my favorite album of all time.
I don't think Vore has any screaming in it 🤔
