This was wonderful and so timely. I had an uncle tell me my only option of men would be married because I am 53 years young with my own home, nice car and 15 year tenure and a Fortune 500 company. I said I would rather be alone than have another woman's man.

I just found this so I’m sure she won’t see my comment. But I’m 52 in 2023. And this was right on point. I have the lack of desire in sex but i want an older man that enjoys just laying back and watching tv or go on walks. Idk. I own my own but i have cancer and on chemo everyday so the medication i take definitely takes a toll on everything. I would love go out with someone but like you said. Things drop.. get dry.. knees go… all that, I could never get intimate with a man…. I know it’s me. I’ve been single since 2015and I’m ok with it.. sigh! Wow. Love the new hairstyle Iyanla! I'm in my thirties and I got plenty of goodies from this episode. My grandmother is a perfect teacher on this topic. She found love again in her seventies and had a wonderful relationship with a great gentleman for years before he transitioned from this life to the next. She's 81 and still looking! I love my beautiful grandma!
That is excellent, I love your grandma. My mom found love at 67 she was like a teenager in love, all giddy and happy. I'm 53 and i truly believe he is out there looking for me as I am for him. Never give up on love.

This is just want I needed. I just turned 53 and ended a 30 year marriage/relationship, that should have ended 15 years ago. In 2016 God, lead me to the R Spot, when Iyanla first started posting on UA-cam. Episode 3 "Leaving A Relationship" & Episode 4 " How To Leave A Relationship", helped me through the process. And now I'm here and I'm happy and at peace. So I say, Thank you Iyanla! You are truly a blessing to me and to us all!

You are always on time! I am 52 and I recently started dating here in the ATL after a divorce. I haven't been single in a long time and I am learning how to navigate the dating waters. I find that it does pay to keep it light and fun but also to be aware because a lot more is at stake because we are nearing retirement age. It would be nice to have a reality dating show focusing on this age group it's a lot of us out here. Looking good Iyanla go on with your bad self. I attract younger men too, sure is nice to know you still got it!
Love this topic, I'm 52 and I'm enjoying my relationship more now than the ones I had in my 20's and my 30's even better than my early 40's cause it's so different. It's nicier to talk to my guy and feel happy for a change, with a man that wants to be with me dispite me using a wheelchair. He thinks I'm sexy and beautiful.

Miss Iyanla but the problem I find when spending many months sharing time with a woman without sex is that the man end up in the so called FRIEND ZONE, cause the woman only desires friendship and most of all the free attention from the man. And sometimes attention is enough for females satisfaction. So my question is how can a man share time without sex but not get caught up into the friend zone, thank you for your sharing about life😊

I'm in total agreement with a lot of the things that was said. As a woman over 50, I am back in the dating scene and I told myself that I wanted to just have fun and enjoy this chapter of my life and would eventually like to meet that special someone that I have a connection with. This advice given here couldn't have come at a perfect time! I can totally relate to a lot of what was said.

When I get rid of the 52 year old male I am dating I don't want another for a while; He lied about a lot of things; I am seeing a lot of men in their 40+ are now alcoholics & drug users and most are closet addicts. Be careful... ask if they have any addictions, when you see one red flag, trust me, there is more to come.

My dear Iyanla! I have been a loyal follower for years... I am so grateful for you wisdom always given with love. I am still trying to understand my two marriages have failed. I have hoped since I was 16 years old, I would find true love. I would take all the blame if I thought it would "cure" me from finding men who have such significant issues. I wish I could figure out what it is... deep inside me... keeping me from real true love. My mother always told me after she was widowed at the age of 59 years old and why she would never date (my father was her true love) that men either need a "nurse or a purse". I loved what you said about plain cake... I have always preferred plain cake! I may be praying for a miracle... but I hope... still I hope. I have been married to a covert narcissist for 28 years... not only have I allowed him to devalue and dismiss me but I have done that in return as well. I am ready to stop this pattern and live with a healthy self perception for the rest of my life!
I think in this day and age it is difficult to meet people who have worked through their brokenness. Many mature people are either going through a divorce or ending a relationship and need to give ample time for healing. Many seem to get involved with the wrong people rather than to wait, heal and date sensibly. Time heals along with reflection and rushing it only results in further brokenness. God bless!

Iyanla, great talk on after 50. Im on the later side, and it's been such a struggle for me to embrace my changing body. It has been a process, but i think you hit the nail on the head when you said we have to make healthy decisions about the realization of the importance of taking care of ourselves.
No longer can wolf down a pint of chocolate ice cream with little to no consequences. Now at 57, i can not do so without gaining weight quickly from such habits.
Learning to love yourself inside and out is key to a wholesome life at any age.

Though I’m not 50 yet, I feel this video would still apply to me. As long as my children are minors I can’t have unrealistic expectations of finding a spouse. When i have to compete with millions of other women it becomes strenuous work just to get a man to look my way.

But I once herd either oprah or iyanla say that this presidency is a wake up call for all of us. I really want her to expand on that statement. the man(Christian man- no sex til married) I'v been dating for 9 months has a disfunction in the bedroom due to meds and perhaps his age of 63. I'm 57 and plan on marrying him.
