This album was obviously a massive influence of video game songwriters for the Megadrive (Genesis) and MegaCD. Seventies song writing with the eighties sound of synths.
You might be on to something. The track long distance gave me "in the bar - streets of rage 2" vibes
Not only this one, but J-Fusion in general. You can clearly hear Katsumi Horii Project, Casiopea, Masayoshi Takanaka, etc, when you are listening to early Japanese videogame music. Imagine that most of the sound designers and BGM composers at the time were really, really young, probably some underpaid interns on a new and underdeveloped field, with not much composing experience in a lot of cases. Whatever was hip to listen to for young music students back in 1980's Japan, they were surely into. And that was probably a lot of J-Fusion.
I grew up with NES/SNES soundtracks, so it all clicked when I first listened to Casiopea and Katsumi Horii. It made so much fucking sense, like of course that awesome music didn't pop out of nowhere, but it was a product of its context.
@@retorique It was a wild time of opportunity for those who wanted to jump into the game industry. Reading interviews of composers and developers of KOF highlighted how little experience or knowledge they had, but they were given a chance to make it work.
That first song is such a banger right out of the gate!
Please explain
In the style of Casiopea. Fun stuff...
Midnight Approach sounds just like Midnight Rendezvous 😉
JP Fusion albums always seem to have insane artwork, but that's only a precursor to how good the music is.
rule of thumb I find is if it has NYC on the cover, it's gonna be a banger. If it has a cool racecar on the cover, it's going to be sicknasty.
@@tomshotdogs6645 You might be right. Supertramp - Breakfast in America was an abstract version of NYC on the over and that was an amazing album, hits or not.
I can think of a few LP album covers I had now with NY. Just depends on the artist how good it is.
@@rushnerd Oh man, I was just talking about J-Fusion albums, but yeah, Breakfast In America totally fits that bill.... although it's also a good helping of sicknasty.
"i love new york"
Humm, that's just a picture of NY with a yellowish background, nothing special
It's a pretty good sounding album so far, I can't find much information about Shigeo Suzuki or this album on the internet though.
Some people doing dives on reddit - posted 2 weeks ago. I'm seeing reviews too.
Why oh why is this amazing album so seemingly obscure and impossible to find info about?
Light in the Attic, please release this gem on all physical formats!
Banger after banger. Whole album is like a breath of fresh air!
This whole thing sounds like really good classic VG music. Most of these tracks could be in an Outrun game. Nice find!
I came here to say the same thing!
key word is the best song
Amazing album. Lots of great grooves. I love the dry recording and the tons of inspiring ideas make for a perfectly 1980's vibe that have listened to a few times already by now!
What a nice album. Underrated.
City Pop album covers are always so good to look at.
Sounds really nice.. very relaxing..
たまたま巡り会えたんですが、めちゃくちゃいい曲❤
何故かゲームをプレイしている気分になってます。
Yoooo this is amazing
Got a mutant mudds, Sega genesis feel to it. I like.
Nice piece of work...especially like the use of the DX-1 on Sea Breeze 😊
Beautiful!Also love the cover!
Indeed, looks like nyc
I don't know what N64 game this is the menu music for, but I'm never hitting start.
Asik sekali saya bisa belajar mencari beberapa lagu nya untuk keterampilan bermain solo synth yang memukau
Orang Indo? Kok bahasanya kaku amat.
excelent!
wicked man
1:17 bro charged the spindash
great album, 5/5.
10/10
key word reminds me of wave race and bomberman combined
Bomberman...that would be Tatsuro Yamashita!
@@small_ed I know him. Yeah kinda similar too.
Oh yuh
sam gelleitry sampled night dews with his song long distance
Any way you can put the full album up to download? :)
This is sick!
This sounds great! Reminds me of a shmup game like Salamander 2
At least the first tune, Sparkler, haha
Damn ive got no material time to hear all this awesome records im discovering

Midnight Approach is straight fire, HOLY BALLS
Agreed. Head and shoulders above everything else.

Reminds me of Outrun...
Well, guess we've found a diamond mine right here
0:41 actual ps intro
Feel like im watchimg How It's Made
2nd track is just Mario Kart
Someone tell me where I can obtain a digital copy of this 😭❤
Any ways to find this on vinyl? Discogs doesn't even have a listing of this!
anything from this era on vinyl is pretty tough to find now, you need to look on japanese 2nd hand music sites or something of the sort
Following because also want
Same, I need this in my collection 😿
Sounds like Sonic the Hedgehog lol 🔥
Sonic was composed by a dope Japanese musician too!
Or does sonic sound like this? Love this sound though. Wish we were there to experience it in its era!
Actually sonic sounds like this
Megaman
Bruhhh
I can't find any info on that artist .. wtf. What a pitty because that album was awesome
Ask the the one uploading the video duh...
SNES ❤❤❤ sound like

Looks about right

empier state building?
@@kmftrfyea, I believe soo....looks like nyc
Actually, a poster recently pointed out that it's the GE building.
SEGA !
why does this feel like a sonic the hedgehog soundtrack
It sounds like mario kart to me.
Sounds like Sonic music
all i see is sonic the hedgehog
この人誰?
Nobody knows this is wild lol
I heard shadow dancer ost in there somewhere. Is it a mishmash of videogame ost and 80s lounge jazz via an a.i? Strange. Fans of this should check out the albums "where have i known you before" and "hymns to the seventh galaxy" by return to forever..
i am unable to unhear mario kart in music like this unfortunately
This album would fit in with classic sonic
Is this a look into the future of A.I. music?
At least the tunes will groove 🎧
Is this not a real person or from 1985 at all?
@@evanpragliola4947 it's most likely a modern (human made) release posing at something old, it's not uncommon
@@Greninka yeah I don’t think it’s ai
@@Greninka I don't know, it is quite possibly genuine. I looked at the account selling the only copy of this and everything else they had for sale seemed to be real albums.
@@GreninkaInteresting. Examples?
