I am a Coptic orthodox 34 year old man and I got a book called monastic wisdom from the letters of the elder joseph the hesychast and I started searching Hesychasm on you tube ....thank u so much for your helpful videos and pray for me that I can follow that path of Jesus prayer
We have a close relationship with the two Coptic Churches in Vancouver. They have regular retreats at our monastery. The Coptic Church is a garden of martyrs, and we have a great reverence for that.
A very good message and reminder, for me. It has taken at least 5 years to clear away most of the distractions of survival which secular society dictates. i.e. (awareness of ones own natural bio-rhythms so to speak)
Ah, then limit yourself to a certain time for viewing it and enforce that on yourself. Of course, in the Monastery we have a bit of an edge, because there are assigned times for prayer and contemplation which are in the Rule and all obey.
Thank you for your videos and teachings. We need more monks sharing their knowledge with the public to help all the hungry seekers that are not being fed by the church. For some reason the priests just don't teach for adults.
Roman priest have not been trained properly. It shocks me as i am Roman catholic. But we all know the smoke of satan entered the church. The battle is on. I love thecteachings of monks....like this one.
boredom gets you in trouble but boredom arises from a background of well being, of no problems. How can you get bored or in trouble if abiding in that state of well being that is prior to any ideas about things to do [from trivial ones such as surfing the web or watching tv to ones with deeper consequences than just wasting time...]?! Ignore the mind that tells you do... all kind of things!
For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.
