Gucci will never die. I feel like people want it to so bad but every time people try to play them they keep popping up. I feel like their classic & vintage styles are too iconic to ever die completely. Specially with influences from their loyalists like Rihanna, asap, etc.
I like vintage Gucci...and just bought a near-mint Gucci bag from the late '60's-early '70's. It's GORGEOUS and I'm thrilled!!! My style tends to go from a Western Boho Chic to a relaxed elegance, so I look for bags that will jive with that spectrum.
I love gucci, and loved the house under Alessandro Michele. My first luxury bag was the marmont flap bag in 2018. I’m waiting out this transition period - I keep checking the website but nothing is really pulling me lately (although I have been buying some vintage Gucci)
I just bought my first Gucci bag a week ago -- the marmont camera bag. I love a camera bag, though. It's my favorite body style for a small crossbody. I'm not sure I'm going to buy another contemporary Gucci bag. I'm a huge fan of really vintage products (50+ years old) and I love hunting for something very unique or an item in the first release of a style.
I love my Marmont camera bag- you made a great choice! And it's really cool that you collect such vintage pieces- I bet you have an awesome collection!
Oh wow! I bought a small Gucci bag probably like 2 years ago and I completely forgotten about it and have never use it till this day. The box still sit on top of my closet. I will send you some pictures of it as my "share your bag" for this Thursday live!
Gucci is one of those brands that are so divisive according to taste. You have to love the nearly-callous quirkiness of the brand. I have to be in the mood for the GG monogram but when I'm in the mood, I am IN the mood! It'll never be "quiet luxury"... Gucci is Gucci 😆 Can't fault the Horsebit or the Jackie at all imo. Also I have to say the customer service and vibes of the SAs at Gucci is just so amazing. Always a great experience in the boutiques :)
I agree with you. Never bought a Soho Disco or Marmont because I got tired of seeing them with every influencer and there really didn't seem to be anything unique about them. There were waaay too many bags that looked identical that didn't cost nearly as much. I really only like the Ophidia line. Just give me the old classic anytime with a matching wallet and that's all I need. I like Gucci makeup and fragrance line but not much new there either. But you are right, it is getting a little boring.
I was just in Gucci the end of July, I got the mini jumbo GG Diana. I thinks it’s soo cute. I got several other items too. I don’t habe a soho, but have the all black marmont camera bag. I love going to Gucci on Michigan Ave. I have the best CA there and have shopped with her for years. The customer service never disappoints.
I am not sure what the new designer of Gucci will bring, but (maybe unpopular?) opinion - I came in late (during the Michele era) … even though I was aware of the brand for a long time. I dove further into the brand when Michele was still in charge of design and was delighted with a lot of his pieces. I still appreciate that he brought back the Ophidia pattern with some new handbag silhouettes and for that reason alone, he is my favorite designer from the brand so far. All of the bags I have from Gucci so far are from the Michele era. A lot of the bags they have currently are nice, but there are only maybe one I plan to buy next (I will keep it a secret for now!) I did like the Blondie camera bag but wasn’t enamored with it. And the Diana hobo bag was nice. I tried on the small size, but it didn’t blow me away. Plus I’d be worried that the bamboo handle will spread out wider over time …. It will be interesting to see what the new designer brings to the brand. P.S. I’d like to add a luxury camera bag to my collection, but if I do it probably won’t be the Blondie (Soho Disco inspired) bag. It’d most likely be the YSL Lou.
Hey Ampersann! Don't get me wrong, I absolutely loved the Michele era, and much of my collection is from that era as well. And I loved the RTW and jewellry from that era the most. The pieces were so flamboyant and fun and whimsical. I honestly really miss it already! Oooh- I can't wait to see what bag you plan to get next! I agree, a lot of the current pieces are nice, but they don't ignite the same passion I had in the past. And great choice with the YSL Lou- those are super cute, and I love the soft lambskin leather.
Gucci will be fine and I think this is a good opportunity for a refresh. I agree with you on the Blonde. It’s just way too bland. The could have done the logo in gold or silver on the front. The Marmont is the worst. I have never understood the appeal of that bag. I think it’s time Gucci discontinue it.
I agree- this is the perfect time for a refresh. I'm not totally loving the plain Blondie, I think they shoud have done a hardware logo on the front. Haha and the poor Marmont- such a polarizing bag!
Great video 🙌🏻❣🙌🏻…..I do not see many carrying Gucci anymore….some of my clients do have the classics monogram with red and green stripe and still love those but not really anything else……a few shared with me the heart on the back of the marmont was a downgrade for Gucci🤷🏻♀……hope they remake some of their classics again☺
I think you're just overthinking this. Gucci is Gucci. Ppl still use it. Everything is still relevant and functional when you use it. It doesn't date itself.
Gucci always and still maintains an air of classics, they don’t deviate far in general. I will pick Gucci any day over LV. LV has no clue what they’re doing with this latest mess, and the quality and service at LV is terrible, more often than not. I was in to see the latest collection and I was appalled at the lack of quality, everything felt cheap. Gucci, service is always top notch and it’s always quality.
You're right about not deviating. Underneath it all, they have a very constant thread. LV - yeah, you're right about that too. I'm not loving LV these days. I do love a Gucci moment when it comes to customer service- always the best.
Yes, safe is the word. Although AM was not my favorite creative director, I can appreciate that he was trying to be different. I think they are trying to erase things because his pieces may look “dated”. We shall see what happens next. Thanks for sharing 😊
You know I was just thinking about this. :-) I have the same feelings of you. I am just not sure what they are doing or where they are going with the brand, there appears to be not much new and I want something new and fun. :-)
I liked all of those bags, but I’m new to looking at Gucci so some of the bags that’s are old designs for you are new to me. My favorite was the medium Diane with the bamboo handle. Next favorite was the wine that had leather and canvas with the horsebit on the front….forgot what it is called.
Their designs are all over the place which could be good or could be bad. Some vintage designs are fabulous and some are what where they thinking. Thanks for sharing your thoughts 🙏👛🚢🛍️
I had a Soho disco bag way before it became popular. They came out with a shiny one. It was t patent leather. It was so soft. I sold it right before I decided to do my channel. Actually love the Marmont flap bag. Something about it. It’s not that I don’t love it. I just love LV more. I have not purchased anything from there in a while
@@CalebSnell exactly.. I can’t wait myself. If I purchased a Soho years ago maybe 9 or 10 years ago. It can be longer. I can’t wait to see what the new designer can bring as well.
All fashion houses have their days in and out of the sun, so Gucci will come back eventually. They do need to kill off any piece that gives a 2017 vibe though in order to do so (think those "GG" belts worn by every influencer and then every MLM hun? Very dated and yikes now). What I do find interesting about Gucci is that it is more the "entry level" luxe house now, more so than LV. You mentioned the blondie, which is under $2K, and there are still a bunch of canvas pieces as well. I wonder if they will try to get away from that with the same ferocity as LV has recently.
Haha, I loved your MLM/ Influencer comparison 😂 I'm hoping they stay within their price point, or at least close to it. The prices at the other houses are such a turn-off these days.
I’m very excited for what’s coming out in the fall from Gucci!! The runway show they did recently intrigued me. I think they are going to bounce back. The horsebit clutch?!?! Hellooo🤤🤤
Current Gucci designers are living proof that it's OK to Plagiarize from old work. Listen, if you look at the wide vintage bag selection from the Japanese authentic preowned market, almost all of these newer models are copycats from the Gucci archives- they just put whatever current Gucci emblem that is. lol and we all know that Gucci doesn't hold its resale value. So why buy from these "new" collection when you can get the first editions for a fraction of the price- yet IT IS STILL GUCCI!
I'm totally okay with Gucci recycling their designs. Almost everyone does in one way or another. I LIKE the idea that if you take good care of your things, that they will be "en vogue" once again. I don't like the concept of throwaway "luxury"...because if it was "throwaway", then there was little actual luxury to it!
I don't own a Gucci bag, I've just never seen one that has pulled at the heart strings. The horse-bit, the bamboo handles, the marmonts, the ophedias, none of them are my style. I do know people who love their Gucci bags, at the end of the day it's just personal preference isn't it. I would like to see them move on and take more of a risk.
I’ve tried to get into Gucci I’ve bought a couple of Ophedia totes, and the Large Diana but I just can’t wear them I thought it was the logo canvas but then I bought the Diana in leather I just don’t think it’s for me.
I feel like they’re definitely trying to be safe until the new creative director releases his first collection in September. Hopefully at that point we’ll see a clearer vision, because currently they feel unfocused to me
