Thanks very much for your sentiments. Its really about unlocking human potential, giving people access to tools (physical tools and "ways of thinking") and a conducive environment.
This is what i have been looking forward to. Kenya has got numerous Engineers who have had nothing to show behind their name. We are moving towards the right direction.
Gearbox is indeed an excellent space. I attribute plenty of my hands-on experience to the exposure and plethora of engaging projects that I happen to have been a part of. Ever proud and inspired to make a difference by building things that matter.
Kenyans are really super innovative in many other sectors except engineering and manufacturing, this is a brilliant solution from my former lecturer in Material Science plus the other Gearbox team.
I'm an African holding mechatronics degree specialise in manufacturing and internet of things. You are doing the right. Only manufacturing will solve africa problems .the African problems will be solve only by africa designer and engineers.
amazing talk buddy. I am moved by your understanding that for Africa to rise Kenya must Rise first coz it is 100% controlled by African unlike South Africa and Nigeria. This is the kind of technologies that Africa require coz they solve prevailing needs with efficiency and inexpensively. I see myself very near into the future investing massively in your company coz honestly you the real deal.
The population problem is here in the north, we are using far more land than people in Africa, just because we want to eat meat, we clear out forests, emmit green house gases (meat industry= more than all transportation combined). It's a distribution problem first of all rather than a population problem. Learn about meat industry in the documentary "cowspiracy" and I'm sure you'll have a better, more nuanced and accurate vision of the problem.
Different progression? In what way?? They have to stop multiplying themselves as the world doesnt want their impossible-problems to multiply!! Let them solve all their existing problems first and then think of multiplying themselves at such mindless rate!!
I disagree that he sounds disadvantaged or superior. As he mentioned himself, he is an engineer, who is an academician, who was educated in the US & UK, & worked in Japan. He is an intelligent & educated man. What do you expect him to sound like??? Sounds to me like your opinion is based primarily on the fact that he is African, rather than on actually really listening to what he is talking about.
In all honesty, this is not a bad idea. Instead of giving speeches like an old has-been, Obama can embrace a brand new project and utilize his vision and leadership skills to help Africa where he's most needed. After all, he's a winner of Nobel Peace price.
Finally! These are the type of talks I'm subbed to TED for.
Very smart man indeed, he sees the future

We are lucky to have people like you care for Africa,
Thanks Mohammed. I see myself as helping open doors....
Open Source all day. Great Talk. Respect from Swaziland, Africa.
This is by far one of the best Ted I've watched, keep it up.
Great compliment. Thank you!
This is how you get a country, a people, out of poverty and into modernity!
Brought tears to my eyes. This are the kind of people Kenya (Africa) needs. Solutions to problems
This is what i have been looking forward to. Kenya has got numerous Engineers who have had nothing to show behind their name. We are moving towards the right direction.
Am glued on the screen.......This is what i lacked when i was schooling, making stuff happen.......but am still innovating with crude tools...........
Gearbox is indeed an excellent space. I attribute plenty of my hands-on experience to the exposure and plethora of engaging projects that I happen to have been a part of. Ever proud and inspired to make a difference by building things that matter.
Excellent talk. Economics and sociology were both touched upon ... among other things.
*Hey , I'm an Artist who has unique drawing talent.......,,..... Bet you that I live up to my word . (uploaded new art just now)*
This is so fantastic! I can’t wait to see the amazing things that Africa does with this technology and how it affects the world.
RIIIIISE AFRICAAAA RIIIIIIIIIIISEEE!!!

I'm not surprised that kenya has being on the raise
Perfect response to those who think Africa is a S#*t hole. This is awesome!
Thank you Sir!
Hope to someday replicate and emulate what you're doing over there, back in Nigeria. well done Sir!
But it is. The majority of Kenyans don't think.
Admittedly, that can be said about every country but here, even commonsense is rare
Gearbox rocks! This is exactly what lacks in our education system. Turning ideas into reality!
I'm an African holding mechatronics degree specialise in manufacturing and internet of things. You are doing the right. Only manufacturing will solve africa problems .the African problems will be solve only by africa designer and engineers.
Another brilliant talk. Thank you!!

I think some global level rule should be brought by UNO to force stop the population disaster in Africa.

maha vishnu not a problem at all, that's just the progression that countries go through
Different progression? In what way?? They have to stop multiplying themselves as the world doesnt want their impossible-problems to multiply!!

but most other countries did the same, and not when they were developed ones D:
maha vishnu *the same could be said for southern asia...the taj mahal is besieged with trash and beggars everywhere.*

I hate his, "we are better than you, but we are at a disadvantage" tone.
AbdulMalik 2024 Americans have that a lot as well (without the disadvantage part)
but everybody hates Americans so maybe you got a point
how did you pick that up from that video?

@@BankruptGreek how is that, and he's just spoken glowingly of America where he got his education? You perceive things differently, Sir!
Success how to make my channel Success?
TED is turning into the BET of science forums...
Shelby idiot
Send Obama back to Kenya
Asshat like you would post these comments
Shame on you

mhtinla I don't think he meant it in that context
seveshan gounden I know what he meant, but that's not what I meant. I know what I meant, and you know what I meant.
