Great video Mr. Ferguson. Appreciate the transparency. Just glyphosated a small area for Poa Triv, dug it up, reeseded, and twice blanket sprayed ethofumesate. So nothing to control the Triv. Can't justify with the Boss (Wife) this expense at this time. I'll watch you as the test case for results. If I was ever to use it, I would just spot treat to be sure you don't damage your lawn.
Is air temperature important because it's ineffective below/above the range of temperatures or because it will cause more damage to good turf below/above the range? And I did do two apps this fall after I got the bottle - one when daytime temps was in the 70s, one when it dropped down to the 60s - so I was at the lower end of the temp range.
Per the label, using below 60 degrees can cause chlorosis in the lawn. Which apparently can cause your good grass to die at a slow rate. I'm guessing to use above 85 could just cause too much stress on it, being it is cool season grass.
Mr Fergy‼️ First of all, your yard is looking fabulous man... congratulation because I watched the blood , sweat and tears that went into making it look so good! Will stay tuned on the velocity experiment...sure hope nothing goes wrong😵💫
I would jump at it because I DID have a huge Poa problem this spring but I’ve been working on my lawn this summer and I’m working with 11,000 sq feet of centipede so it’s a slow grower. The price is *wow* but worth it if it really works and I’ve been blessed to be able to swing it but maybe next year after I see how this year fared. I put down multiple apps of Celsius, Certainty, one app of Tenacity, and a good run with fertilizer, pre-emergents and such this year. This is my first year really taking care of my lawn and you’ve been a true inspiration!
I did 1.5ml per gallon every 2 weeks, 3 apps total after air temps reached 70 degrees. Spot spray. Your first poa video was actually how I found your channel!
@ it is much better now but I missed a couple spots so I’ll be doing it again next year. I think that’s the problem with spot spraying, but I was afraid to blanket spray with my lawn having kbg mixed in.
$500. Sounds like I need to give myself another pricey Christmas present!!!!! Any suggestions for a good not so pricey backpack sprayer. I have had a petra for almost 2 seasons. Just put a 3rd battery in it and now it's not even running. This is the type of thing that ercks me!!!!! Tools nowadays aren't the tools that I still have and use that my grandfather had!!!!!!!!!!!!
Spend the money and get a Flowzone. The nice thing about Flowzone is all parts including electronics are easily accessible and can be replaced by the owner. Parts can be found online or at your local Site One Most professional sprayers use Flowzone there is a reason
If your in that market, I'd get one that works and will for years to come. I would try the cyclone flowzone, if its in your budget. Here is a link if interested: bit.ly/3wdR7Mp If that is to much, I'd consider something like this: bit.ly/3Cruk2l All in all, I'd do some research and get the best one you can to last long as it can.
Congrats on the purchase. It will be interesting to follow your experiment. Poa is maddening… but, by looking at your photos from 2020, I think you are winning the war. It is hard to remember all the progress made. I look at my lawn and visually can pick it apart w a bit of poa here, a strange grass type in another area, etc. But, when I remember there were large dirt patches and hard compact dirt patches two seasons ago, I feel satisfaction and progress. Onward!
Awesome Bro, I was looking into purchasing this as well. Most likely I’ll sell half of it though, I only have a 5k sqft. From what I’ve read online it’s best to blanket spray the first app then on the second app to spot spray. I’ll be doing more reading on this and watching videos for sure. 😊
I wld find some field and test that first. Square off a 1000 square foot and spray. I used that Sublim on my yard this summer didn’t pay attention to the temps and literally toasted my yard. Then the drought and high temps still trying to recover. Good luck. 👍
I had a massive infestation of POA Triv that was slowly expanding each year....I tried digging up areas and that never seemed to work well. This spring I bought Velocity PM, applied 2 treatments, and it worked wonders. Typically in the fall, the Poa Trio comes back with a vengeance, but this fall I had very little. Probably a 90% effectiveness. I think the battle against POA is a never ending quest because those seed heads can lay dormant for decades. But the Velocity works and now I at least have a tool to manage it.
Well, technically I don't have a poa problem either. I'm only discussing and showing it because of this channel for people that do. However, I'm with you. Over 500 for a herbicide, for a home owner is steep!!! I wouldn't do it either unless I literally couldn't overcome the poa any other way.
I’m in central nc as well. I sprayed my POa triv with roundup and spot seeded this last Monday. You think with the temps going down I will get germination before it gets to cold?
@ I have baby grass coming up now. My question is we have cold air coming the next 10 days or so and I’m sure you are aware. Will these cold temps cold temps hurt or kill the baby grass?
Olee Pool Fescue Freaks had a rep from NuFarm on his channel to talk about Velcity. He said the best application was two blanket applications 20 something days apart.
It's a very effective product whether used for entire lawn or spot treatments. You can re-seed in 7 days. I know this because I have recently done it. If used below 65 degrees, it will still kill poa trivialis (and other listed weeds) but at a much slower pace. Retail price is high but usage rates are very low so it should last a good while. Make certain you use your PPE.
Wow that's some impressive stuff and one of your more impressive experiments if not the most impressive one you've had yet. Poa is what got me to watching your channel years ago and I've enjoyed your vids ever since. Unfortunately, my yard is all KBG & I gagged at the price for a pint of the Velocity. But I'm looking forward to results. Sure, hope the wife didn't watch this video and have her hear how much it cost for that Poa killer. Hate to hear that it was a marriage killer as well, lol. Great vid Mr. F, as I hate Mr. Poa as well as you.
Well, as we have discussed, this is just another option. You see my yard from 2020, and today. No Velocity PM. No $533 herbicide used. It can be done with other methods.
I am super jealous to see rain by you, we are in a mega drought up here in New Jersey. But I have to admit the lord is good because i have been praying for rain for two weeks and it came for a few hours a week ago.

That's the way I would probably go. I don't have a major poa issue, so blanket spraying my lawn would be a waste I feel. Thanks for commenting!

Thanks so much for your comment of experience. Really appreciate it, and glad it's worked out well for you.
Question. Do you have an irrigation system? Or do you water regularly during the summer? Had a hard time here in NC
Thank god I don't have a poa problem. 500 would cover my water bill for the summer!!

It will grow, although it will be slower now, as temps have really began to drop. Yes though, it should eventually grow in over more time.

Yea I saw this a good while back. I'll have to watch it again over the winter months.
@ good info, I am glad your stepping in to get rid of that triv for good
I knew this was coming!!!! great price btw......
Yea, well you may have but I did not lol. With the recent triv running wild, seemed like something to test out.
@@MrFergusonLawn my new renovation looks good but guess whats popped up...yea!!
I would keep that product somewhere that doesn't freeze for storage. Some products loose their effectiveness once freeze thaw has occurred.

$533 to control poa? I don't know, Mr. Ferguson. $500 can get me an entire pallet of Zoysia here or perhaps a new lawnmower lol. Great vid.
Oh trust me, I'm with you, lol. Had I not had a youtube channel to give people my thoughts, wouldn't be touching this stuff.
Well if you have a very small lawn maybe a total renovation might be cheaper.
@@dalewiley9208 Much cheaper!
There’s people who buy it and split it on FB groups. I’m buying 2.5 sq. ft. worth of it for around $60. Way more reasonable than the MSRP.

For that price, let’s at least least drop the H when we pronounce herbicide lol
