My grandfather just told me he had two friends that worked in that mine and in the 1970's two men died in a floor callapse in one of the lower levels.
He also told me he thinks that the mine has 9 levels and goes for 10 miles in 3 different directions.
We were watching together and he told me to tell you you should have someone outside in communication with you in case something happens because your personal locating devce will not work under there.
Also you should have some Oxygen tanks with masks in case there are some gas pockets. My Grandfather did some mining in his time and said that mine looks in pretty good shape but watch out for wet areas and floor collapses especially when they are in side by side tunnels like the one you passed.
I was kinda thinking a Grey Alien would run across your path or peek around a corner looking at you LOL

Thank you for the info, and he's right, there are tunnels all over the place, and level upon level. 🙂

He also said never walk on wooden floors if you have to have a long pole or stiick to test them first.
Also get some of those light sticks you break to light up incase of battery or flashlight malfunction they last for hours and are the best back up. have a backpack with water and food incase of a emergency and have at least 30 feet of rope and a shuvle. My Grandfather loves your video's he says he see's places that remind him of some wonderful times in his life. Oh that rabbit freaked him out and he wont tell me why but i will get it out of him and tell you.

Explore With Us,.....hi from australia.... another great episode....couple of things....if as masskilla469 says that this could go for 10miles would not this take you into area 51 ?......and many say when they are exploring old mine tunnels they hear voices.....well considering that places like area 51 etc have tunnels going underground for miles why couldnt the voices you hear be coming from "their" tunnels...just a thought.....

You know there are rumors or legends about parts of Area 51 (maybe most of it) being built into old abandoned mines from like the 1800's or the 'Wild Wild Western' days. Maybe that's actually one of the old tunnel systems that lead into Area 51.

I went there in May, and the jets were flying over so low, and fast that they were making 2 sonic booms. I had to do exactly what you did , and go back to get a sweatshirt because the wind coming through there was coldddddd! I walked a fast paced walk for exactly an hour, and a half, and still couldn't see the end of that mine. They keep talking about reopening that mine, and making it an open pit mine. The problem is South Korea, and China can mine tungsten for much cheaper. For more then a hundred years that mine was the largest producer of tungsten in the world. Without that mine I don't think Rachel would have ever existed. I also guarantee that the government had something to do with tat mine shutting down. The last record I found of ore being taken out of that mountain was 1988, and at that time had 2 shifts working 24/7. I parked my jeep in the main building where the stamp mill was. Those buildings wouldn't take much repair to get them running again. I think this is another case like the silver mine in Groom Lake which that family built Groom Lake Road. Seeing that jackrabbit with the rocks around it is just strange, and not right. Great video guys!

I am keeping hope alive that the jack rabbit in there was nothing bad it was it wandered in there it died so they didn't want to bury it they like immortalized it by putting rocks around it so it could just be out in the open like they wanted it to rest in peace peace

I would love to see more of this place. I have viewed all of your videos (I think) and this is, so far anyway, my favorite by a long shot. It's easy for me (and everyone else for that matter) to ask for more exploration...after all, I am comfortably sitting in my padded chair. But, I (and I am sure everyone else who comments) do appreciate and enjoy the fact that you are willing to share your experiences, plus your videos are, in my opinion, the most authentic of their type on UA-cam. I just wish I was a whole lot younger than I am.

I can only speak for myself, but I enjoy the tunnels. I had an uncle in Arkansas who, along with his friends, used to crawl into any hole in the ground they could find. In those days, all he had was a 35mm camera, but he had some great photos, mostly slides, from some impressive caves that no one knew anything about at the time he and his friends explored them. The mine tunnels are much different, but they have their own mystery and eeriness which many of us find fascinating.

+ Explore With Us - @ 25:12 that is a 6 foot "Split Bolt" (Rockbolt) . Miners drill a hole in the rock with a Jackleg Drill. When the hole is deep enough, they remove the Drill Steel from the Drill and insert a Rockbolt Driver in the Drill Chuck. The Rockbolt is inserted through the hole in a 6 inch x 6 inch Rockbolt Plate, and then they start the tapered end of the Rockbolt into the hole and use the Drill and Driver to force the Rockbolt into the hole in the rock. The steel Rockbolt compresses going into the hole, & when seated the Rockbolt trying to expand to it's original shape, grabs the rock thereby holding it in place & the pressure exerted by the Rockbolt Plate holds the facerock in the tunnel in place. - < Doc, Retired. Miner for nearly 50 years. > .

I think if you keep walking you'll be at Area 51!!! Sure goes deep in the mountain, and it doesn't look like your run of the mill mines, looks like it's something the airbase started to build. You know you see those tunnels encased in concrete slabs like at the first part. And as round as the tunnels are, they just don't look like regular mine, and the wood door! That's not old wood! Wow! What a find!

What an awesome video. Some mines used to 'door off' areas for two reasons. If there was a fire incident, an area could be 'doored off' to starve the fire of oxygen. Also, in some mines where air was pumped down, it would be wasteful to pump air into ten kilometers of tunnel, so areas would be 'doored off' to enrich the air in an area that was being worked at the time, rather than waste a lot of energy airing up the entire mine. Some of those doored off areas would be for safety, and security reasons, and to ensure toxic Co2 levels don't fill the shaft, from fuel powered water and air pumps.

Really surprised you guys made it as far as you did, what you should do is get a group of 6 more people with additional flashlights and spray paint so you can make markers to find your way out. But by doing that it will "potentially" allow you to get further than you ever have! Keep it up!

Love the videos and your sense of adventure. Just thought I would add some safety advice. 1. Leave a similar CB radio in your car in case of rescue. 2. Have a simple rescue pack with some good rope and a safety harness. 3. The respirator cartridges(2091) you are wearing are only good for particulate matter, as in sweeping a dusty floor. At the very least you should be wearing the 2097 which offer a small charcoal filter contained within that help filter nuisance level toxic fumes. The ideal cartridges are the hard shell organic vapor ones which fit the same 3M mask. These will save your butt if you hit a sudden draft gust and encounter gas. A solid charcoal bite block would also be good to keep in your pack. All these items take up minimal room are light weight and could very well save your life. If needed I could send you all of the above. Cheers and keep up the great videos, Todd.

If you play from 20:54 to 20:58 or so and look into the opening in the rock wall. Right as the light passes over the edge of the opening it kind of looks like a face peeked out and hid. Probably a trick of the light but gave me a heart attack. (Especially when paused at 20:55 and convinced myself there was a forehead behind those rocks.)

Me and friends walk on old steel like that all the time at the local abandoned atlas silo. If it makes a noise with one foot and half your body weight, don't walk on it. If you're unsure, tie off to a hard point.

I'd love to see you explore more of those tunnels but maybe leave a trail of breadcrumbs so you can find your way back out ;) Once you were out of the tunnel did you try the dead batteries to see if they were still dead? As cold as you said it was I can't help wondering if the sudden temperature drop affected them.

    • @ExploreWithUs
      @ExploreWithUs  7 років тому +4

That's a good point about the batteries. I didn't check after leaving the tunnel. I charged them up again and it's working find again. I might have just accidentally had it turned on when I put it in my pocket, even though I locked it, I guess I might have accidentally unlocked it. I unscrew my other flash light to prevent that from happening. 🙂

slidetek My stomach does a flip when I see kids clothing or toys that look out of place, when watching Urbex videos. Like in a old warehouse or similar. Creeps me out, when you think about all the kids that go missing, if a murderer was to bring them somewhere like a mine, who would even think to look there?

Just discovered your channel and I can't stop watching. This tunnel is the limit! Better than all the ghost and adventure shows on tv. Really fun and interesting stuff. And you've given the alien/government conspiracy folks something fresh to chew on. It's all a kick, and I'm a little jealous. A sure subscription, and an enthusiastic thumbs up! But do try to be a little careful; it all looks a bit, dangerous.

The object that you found at 25:12 is called a split set bolt. It's a friction bolt used in ground support. The grating as you called in the roof of the intersection is ground support using the split set bolts with plates and chain link fencing. The bolts apply side pressure on the surrounding rocks and pin the chain link in place with the plates, the chain link fencing holds loose rock in place so that it doesn't fall off the roof. The long tubes made of aluminum with the steal chisel shaped ends are called scaling bars and are used to "bar down" loose rock safely.

That was good to watch, i will have a look and see if there is a part 3 yet. The Tunnel is the kind of place you could load up a couple of Mountain Bikes, walk them in for as far as possible then ride them out so it is not so long to get to the outside again, if you have not been back then it would be good if you did, it was very interesting.
