- In this episode we talk about Action Comics (New 52), American Vampire, Aquaman (New 52) and Animal Man (New 52). This is the first of a new ongoing series (at least twice a month) where I'll be going through my humble comic book collection and whispering about the titles I own, performing modest reviews / overviews, and occasionally looking at the art. This is not just to provide relaxation and ASMR for anyone watching, but to talk about a hobby that many enjoy or have enjoyed, with the slight chance of introducing new folks to the world of comics.
I may be adding pickups to this series, where I purchase a few current comics and share my thoughts on them at the beginning of each episode. So if you have any suggestions, leave a comment and I'll try to pick them up and add them into future videos!

Dude. I actually bought the whole Cap run where he was killed and Bucky took over. I love the Spidey run where they kind of did a retelling, bringing back Kraven and Rhino. Daredevil. Fantastic Four. Trust me, I have much love for Marvel too. Thanks for watching.
Issue #0 was meant to inform new/old readers alike about what the current history/origin is for the characters since their back stories and origins were altered by flashpoint. And if their origin has already been told within the first 12 issues of the new 52, then issue 0 was meant to help establish what things were still canon in the new 52 universe. Kind of like a quick "DC New 52 Universe for Dummies" type thing.

Please make more of these! I love comics and listening to you talk about series that you like is informative as well as relaxing. I'm a sucker for ASMR videos involving lists of things that people like; books, movies, etc. So I really hope you make more. At least enough to cover all of your longboxes. :P
I will try. I have been meaning to do a comic book video for awhile now. I'll try to make it a priority even though I don't collect anymore.

I think you'd love the book Gotham by Midnight. It's about a precinct in the Gotham Police force that fights the supernatural elements of the city. The main character is Jim Corrigan, the Spectre, who just so happens to be one of my favorite characters to read. The art is by Ben Templesmith, who really brings the Lovecraftian vibe to life. It's definitely one of my favorite books out right now.

This is one of my favorites of yours. Im not even into comics but this was really relaxing and interesting.
The New 52 continued running until 2015. #0 was one off (one-shot). After that, they continued to #13, #14 etc.
Also as for the Zero issues. It doesn't mean that they are relaunching or restarting the numbering. It's just something the industry has done occasionally since the 90's. A Zero issue will be published for a particular series and it usually serves as a prequel or additional origin material. After a Zero issue a series just continues on as usual from wherever they left off in the numbering.
Also, I love that captain America shirt. Nicky's outfit is way better than Steve's fish scale one. In my opinion
I was about to say WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? Then I realized my sub page decided not to show your uploads for a few weeks. Made sure all the subscription settings are right beforehand so...Yeah. Is anyone else having this problem or is it just me? I Can't live without these tingles!
Hey Ephemeral, ot 2:34 you stated that you'd try and do more comic book videos at least once a month....it's December now, we've anxiously waiting for the next video; Sorry, hate to bust you nuts about it but I love the comic book vids the best :)

You REALLY should get yourself one of them old, briefcases, a cap hat, a black mafia suit and start counting out money (preferably notes, flicking through the decks of money) The noises of the opening and closing locks would be a great trigger as would be the tapping on the briefcase itself.

I'm not sure if they are making new ones currently but I know that if there is a comic store near you there's no way they won't have at least one copy. The game The Darkness was made because the comics were so popular. If I'm not mistaken there was even one were Jackie teamed up with Laura Croft in Tomb Raider.
I'm a huge batman fan. I'm subscribed to Batman and Robin, Batman, Red Hood and the Outlaws and Nightwing.

I love Scott Snyder's writing. I've heard so many good things about American Vampire, but have been afraid to try it. I'm kind of burnt out on vampires from pop culture. Same with zombies. I don't know, I think you may have inspired me to give it a try.

I second/third/thousandd Preacher. The best comic I've ever read, and from what I've seen it should be right up your alley. Incredibly entertaining and crude and bloody, but at the same time thought-provoking and enthralling. Also there's a character called Arseface.
Man, I really hate the fact that here in Brussels all comic book stores push belgian/european artists and completely ignore all these great titles from DC. I mean, it's good that they want to promote artists from their own country, but at the same time it's unfair titles like these are completely ignored. Plus, if you ask them for some specific titles from DC (or even mangas), they almost seem to get offended! I will have to start ordering them online...paying twice as much! :( Great video btw
You have to read All star superman. That is thee best superman story in along time. Grant Morrison is a great writer but he can be a bit delirious with some books.
I am reading mostly Valiant right now. They just started having a lot of new titles so now is a great time to jump on.
Man there's a long way to go in comic books and they're universes. Its gonna take me forever to read these multiple series of comic books. I know theres the most famous and best ones. Like Marvel and DC. :)

You should check out Saga if you haven't already. I can't recommend this book enough. So far it's only at about 13 issues so it isn't too difficult to catch up on. It's kind of the industry darling at the moment. Tons of critical acclaim and it's well deserved.

very much older now... it was a single graphic novel adaption of clive barkers short story of the same title, shouldn't be too expensive/hard to find online if you like things for the artwork.

A lot of my friends and my brother are or were big on comics and I love listening to their conversations and learning about some of the story arcs, I only ever really got into Niel Gaimans comics and an odd assortment of collected volumes/graphic novels... really loved the adaption of clive barkers 'the yattering and jack' fantastic artwork, and i loved the character of the demon the yattering.
Now this is a Box of Awesomeness. Great respect, man!

There's a book that's been going on for about a year now called "saga" it's is absolutely incredible and you with your creative type of mind would particularly like it I think. It's published by Image comics. Try to get the trade paperbacks

I have to say I dont get into MALE asmrtist but dude! Your the COOLEST male ASMRTIST I have seen yet and your now my FAV male ASMRTIST,keep up the good work and you have a new SUBER bud!
It's been out since the 80's, and is quite a good series.
In addition to that one, check out the Transmetropolitan series for the lighter side of a slightly dystopian vision of the future from the past, but with a sci-fi / Bladerunner flair. I found it a nice pick-me-up after reading Moore's masterpiece, which was quite dark.

If you haven't you should check out V For Vendetta by Alan Moore (If I spelled that right). It's a pretty great comic.

Did you end up picking up the American Vampire series again? I love you chatting about comics. It's always a relaxing experience . I've been on and off collecting since I was about 12. My focus was Spider-Man. Loved him as a kid :) I loved reading the letters at the back, too- felt like I was connecting with people from across the world. Great feeling.

I hate fairyland #8 (explicit cover variant)
Go teen titans (a first for me!)
Spider-Man/Deadpool
And back issues of the 2015/2016 reintroduction of Spider-Man 2099 (before the sinister 6 story which I didn't really care for).

You should really read the new Superman-Batman series. Issue 3 just came out yesterday.
I'm curious, have you read Morning Glories from Image at all? It seems like it would be right up your alley. Season 2 started a few months back, but you could get Season 1 in trade if you haven't read it yet. It's REALLY good.
Its this October, not sure exactly when but you can check nycc.com. I know you live in P.A. but its a pretty close event and its lots of fun, unless you like to go to a closer con.
