Netflix: Movie starts instantly
Blu-ray: The FBI threatens me for 250K$
boneset777 True 😂😂
Lol
If you download movies on Netflix you don’t need wifi
It only starts instantly if u have good internet which not everybody have.
This joke seems accurate, until you read the TOS on Netflix which nobody reads.
I still prefer physical copies
Physical media will always be better and the normal thing to do. Streaming everything is just down right bizarre.
Mike Montana ur just old
I prefer physical media only for movies in love the rest online steaming is good enough.
@@thegoat164 Convenience is bizarre? Your comment is bizarre. Physical media is dying and it will only remain as an extremely niche market just like vinyl today.
Fly Beep you must be below 30. It’s simply a generational thing. I’m 39 and I also think it’s weird that people actually BUY digital copies. If you lose internet or if the service dies, all that stuff purchased goes with it. My hard copies are always there- and can’t be altered or anything !
Most physical media collectors tend to love slip covers, and hate when they don’t have them
Real talk!
Yeah. Slip covers are extra protection.
Yes, we call these people retards.
Funny how James Rolfe, a movie collector also hates those.
Slip covers looks extra HD cover art.
I'm a collector... And I love my physical discs... I have Netflix too maybe is the future as you said.. However I think the discs never gonna disappear because the feeling to have your own disc in your hands look the disc and even in my case i enjoy the previous movie trailers, makes me feel like I'm in my own cinema, and for me is a amazing experience. ❤️ My bluray disc's ☺️🍷
You forgot the one major problem with Internet streaming. If the Internet goes down there is no Netflix.
Or Amazon or UA-cam or Hulu or voot or hotstar or anything.
If you really want to secure yourself from that you can download the movie/series.
Just use Windows/Android App.
No App for MacOS though.
Also is a great way to watch content definitely in HD as there won't be any "network optimisation".
But downloading takes some time...
jesse garrett But then if the power goes out you can’t play your Blu-ray player
@@BigPauly but power happens less than internet plus there's just if internet isn't good you can just get lagged in the middle of the movie
How many times your internet goes down? Here where I live maybe once a year. Sadly I never have a moment where I can feel good for collecting physical media
Minor inconveniences vs. not owning what I watch
Not a difficult choice for me
More pros to owning then steaming
Better Quality Picture And Sound
Buy Once And Own It
No Multiple Subscription To Pay Every Month That You Might Not Use
@@thebeast9869 yea, and for Netflix there isn't 7.1 audio, but there IS 7.1 for Blu Rays (or 4k Blu Rays)
I prefer physical for a couple of reasons.. The main one is conductibility, but also the fact that some movies are either near-impossible to find on streaming services, and even when they are, they risk being pulled any given day. There are services to buy digital movies like Vudu, but those are usually right at or more expensive than you can get the Blu-Ray from a service like eBay. And often times the quality is actually better on the Blu-Ray, not to mention the special features that you can rarely get digitally. The good news is that collectors like us are keeping the hobby alive, so I see physical releases continuing into the near future, even if they slow down a bit. Heck, Vinyls are even becoming popular again.
computerkid1416 Physical media are probably becoming the new laserdisc.
-Prices for each title will go up to, but at least have more content.
-Players will become more expensive.
-Covers will become more than just your standard little casing. They'll be boxsets, designed with distinctive each time.
And eventually production of physical media will cease to exist.
@@pHD77 The number of streaming services are increasing as are the prices of each streaming platform
The biggest streaming service. ,Vudu, is shutting down and streaming services owned by Criterion, TCM and others have already fizzled out. Not only are the streaming services charging monthly fees but they charge customers to buy movies. Also. This happens to me but my wifi craps out on me and they buffer for up to 25 mins.
@@kencoakley3959 Vudu is not shutting down. Ultraviolet is.
very nicely said, totally agree!!!!
Changing the disc doesn’t take long at all. Why are we so impatient? I’m just used to the legal stuff they put at the beginning of films.
Bro him throwing the slipcovers out made me cringe so hard 😫
Connor Little ::: EXACTLY..!!
And here in my country I'm complaining I don't have slip covers. They somehow add value to your purchase for me.
I take it you're a hoarder.
I wish all my Blu rays had slip covers. They look so good
I love the slipcovers. They make the case feel much fancier to me.
I prefer physical for movies, but digital for shows.
Depends. There are a few crowning jewels available out there on blu-ray discs and DVD... That are nowhere to be found on this streaming world. Series I used to watch back in the day. Fond childhood and teenager memories.
Well, I rather buy anime on Blu-ray than to stream it on woke shit like Crunchyroll and Funimation.
Yeah I agree
Physical all the way, can't beat the picture & sound quality.
Also cool bonus features
DUDE! Slipcases are awesome! Makes the box look so clean and nice. I mean your already up to get the movie. Takes half a second to remove the slip cover and put it back on lol
Right?!
I had no power for 5 days after a bad storm knocked down a pole on my block. We had no cable/internet either. Even when power came back, we still waited 2 days for the cable company to repair their wires..... we used a generator to run the fridge and tv/Blu-ray player. All we had was our PHYSICAL media. My Netflix subscription was completely useless while costing me $18 a month!!! I will never stop collecting physical media! It’s the only way to truly OWN the thing you pay for.
Screw Netflix & the rest of them! Physical media forever! Nothing better!!
I agree
Hell yes
I enjoy both, I consider streaming to be like a cheap rental service, saves me money decided if I want to buy a physical copy or not
I watched Pirates of the Caribbean on Netflix to see picture quality drop.
If it wasn't for all my favorite Netflix originals, I probably wouldn't use Netflix that much, if at all.
Very funny narration, and true. I like physical media - no internet required.
Some movies are so old and unknown that you can only get them on DVD at Amazon
Blu Ray will always be your best friend. There for you in hard times, there with you when your first child is born, there to support you when your wife leaves you and takes the kid with her. Because she also took the internet, and Blu Ray is the only thing you have to watch movies on. Blu Ray is and will always be your main man, your compadre, your source of entertainment. Your best friend
I just watched Spider-Man Homecoming on Blur-Eay. Wow! Defiantly worth it. I have always noticed that Blu-ray and dvds have much better picture and audio quality than Netflix and other online streaming. I have to always adjust the brightness and contrast for streaming movies, as sometimes the picture is so washed out.
Ikr. I was watching a movie (i dont remember which one) it said it was in 1080p but it looked like 480p, and then i switched to Blu Ray and it looked Way better (btw, Same TV, and on a Xbox One S)
The HD is only for contures, not color or contrast. Look at the black on stream. It's blurry
The Disney logo probably cost a lot of money, makes sense to make good use of it :D
mayby not 5 times but uhmm... Heck Yea!
It did, and it does.
When buying a Blue-Ray movie, there should be the same joy of just pressing play and bang and the movie starts completely like on Netflix, for example. After all, you pay money for a pleasure, and then you fucking should also be able to choose if you want to look at a fucking Disney logo 5 times or not.
I Genuinely enjoy the trailers, menues, animated menus, creative logos on Blu-Ray. It makes me feel like I'm in a theater. I dont like how Netflix just takes the theatrical magic out of movies.
Same. But sometimes when I don't have that much time and i need to skip them Fast, i press the menu button and instead of going to the menu, IT STARTS OVER THE LOGO. but thats only when I don't have time, when i do have time i watch all of them
I prefer Physical Media when I buy a blu ray or DVD it feels like I won a trophy or something you can't replace that feeling I also enjoy online streaming but I prefer Physical Media most of the time
I felt like royalty when I was watching my lion king blu ray
the book had me laughing for minuts
I know right ;D ??
Yeah the book "DON'T COPY ME" was HILARIOUS.
Good post. Thank you. (I DO like slip covers and other packaging fuss.)
Niki, you're brilliant. I can't remember the last time I laughed so hard.
Elsker dine movie talks
Very nice video Niki! Its nice to see that you invest lots of time in your videos :D Keep it up
I like your videos style man. They're descriptive, with examples, and concise and not draggy. Keep doing videos on movies man!
That’s why I love converting my physical media to digital with VUDU so I can still watch without the menu.
Great video :D always get excited when i see you uploading! Can you talk about film piracy, Why people choose it over ex. Netflix, and the impact it has on movie making
I was thoroughly entertained watching this video!! I have recently been watching your work and I love it :) Subscribed!!
I was laughing so hard when you were talking about slip covers. Lol
nice video, niki :D
please make a 'movie locations' for pirates of the caribbean!
Webmus yes
While you have a valid point about waiting for physical media to load, depending on your streaming player, you've still got to go through three menus to get to Netflix (or whatever streaming service), wait for the Netflix icons to load, and then wait for it to load to start playing. And if the connection is slow, it's going to pause in the middle of the movie anyway. Barf.
Most of these problems / annoyances would be removed by ripping the move with something like MakeMKV?
"Now The Movie, Nooooo we got to watch trailers Fuck Me"🤣
Good video Niki. Keep up the good work👍
Starwars actually had that menu where it spoiled the movie.
Great video Niki, I love, how you invest a lot of your time in your content.
Niki really good video and it was really funny too 😄
I love physical media, but I cant find Once upon a Deadpool on region b, so i am considering buying a digital copy, have you tried digitla movies? where to get it? who has the best picture and sound? I live in norway
It’s funny when he said you can fit two bible books in the slip cover 😂💀
Good points risen and funny content, keep it up! :D
thanks!
Very interesting video. I think downloads / streaming will become a standard in the future. The only thing that isn’t clear to me is: What service will it be? After VHS was over and out, it was replaced by dvd and later Blu ray. That’s easy. One standard supported by all brands. But what will the future of streaming / downloads look like? Will it be iTunes? Will it be Netflix? UA-cam? Nobody can tell me wich direction it goes.
I started collecting movies on iTunes, but it doesn’t work anymore on older hardware. I don’t watch enough movies to subscribe to a streaming service and have no idea what I have to choose after dvd.
Where do you buy the blu ray movies? they are pretty expensive, is there a trick for cheaper movies?
So after all good video and i now know that you really love the Disney logo xD
The only con of physical media is finding the space to store them. And for releases with very small demand, the physical media used are often DVD-R/Blu Ray-R, which could possibly deteriorate in the future and even become unplayable(?), unlike proper factory-pressed discs.. :(
bluray packaging is superb excellent art work from the company via hollywood great work easy simple don't take long
The FUCKING Disney logo! Hahahahahhaha
Der er stadig en butik hvor man kan leje film i Hinnerup i 2024. Det må være en af de sidste
i started a blu ray collection because of you.
Good video. You make good observations. I personally love both. I buy my favorite movies and concerts physically and stream everything else.
Maybe it's just a matter of age. But I very much prefer physical copies 👍❤️
it is not, I also love physical media, because I want to buy more than just a movie - I want to buy a "treasure" :) And I don't want to pay monthly fees. Not saying the online watching companies are bad, they are great, but a movie on media, especially on BR, is just something you can hold, you can keep it forever or you can pass it on someone.
Is Klown a good series to watch? The case storing the discs looks very esoteric and frustrating.
You can also rent them from the library or DVD Netflix.
Streaming media feels far less personal and far more disposable to me.
I’m of the opinion that if I spend money on a film (or music) I’m going to ensure I consume the media. With Netflix and Spotify, everything is more disposable.
Not instantly into the album you’re listening to? Fine - you didn’t pay for it, only the monthly subscription. Find something else, you might enjoy it more.
And that to me is the biggest issue with streaming media I personally have. There is no monetary outlay on the media people watch now apart from the subscription, so everything is far more disposable as opposed to the days when we went out and picked a single movie from Blockbusters on a Friday night, or when we went into the local HMV and brought an album.
We knew we had invested time and money into our media consumption, so to dismiss the music and films we consumed then had more a financial repercussion. And because of that, it meant we were more invested instead of having a niggling feeling at the back of our head that we can click off and find something else immediately.
Great video man! :-)
In my opinion here's pros and cons on digital and physical.
Pros on digital.
You can get it right away instead of waiting for it to be shipped to you or picking it up in a store.
Not worry about scratches or losing it.
Cons on digital
If your wifi is slow it will be buffering or just loading all the time.
If your wifi is down you won't be able to watch it.
Pros on physical media
You could own it.
You don't have to worry about internet problems or buffering.
Cons on physical media
You can scratch it by watching the movie or show many times.
You can lose it.
You can run out of storage on shelves.
Your DVD/ Blu Ray player can mess up.
I've watched empire strikes back 15 to 20 times and it's not scratched. I also keep track of all my movies sorted them all and always organize them every month and clean them. I have about 6 big shelf in my garage which I dont use so I have alot of space. I have 4 blu ray player and 2 4k players.also physical has better picture and sound quality. Ps I have around 800 movies
why do I still like having a physical copy around: In case something happens to my computer or console
How often or how possible is that the discs might get damaged over time?
What is the difference by normal movie cases and Blu ray
CuTie_ ZaPPi blu ray cases are blue and much shorter than dvd cases.
You can push that extra lock door on the bluray case inwards before you close it.
When you start a Disney DVD just hit the main menu button on Fast Play so that you have to see the ads!
This was hilarious..very clever video. I agree 100% 😁
My memory of video stores are very vague, I only went to one a few times between 3-5 years old I wish I went more often before they closed
been collecting especially VHS 24 years back
I Have Both
I Have A Huge DVD & Blu Ray Collection But Because Of The Digital Codes Now I Have Both
Hi niki i love your videos, i do buy bluerays in psyical movies my self keep up the good work.
i used to throw out the slip cover but now i know they are sometimes what makes a rare bluray worth a ton. so i keep them now.
This video is so funny. This is the Best series on youtube
Good video Niki :))
Awesome video. I started collecting dvds when they 1st started coming out and have about 1,000, then what ya know bluray was introduced! So I felt like I needed to replace my dvds with bluray. So now I have a crap load of both, duplicate copies of a bunch of them and guess what 4k dvds have been introduced! WTF! I'm done and now I just use VUDU. Been buying from them for a couple of years and it's pretty great. Also it's helping keep the peace with my wife who just loves shelves and shelves of movies all over the living room and spare rooms. Streaming is definitely the future but I will hang onto my physical movies and pass them down like my dad did with his VHS. Lol 😂
tell me when you plan on selling your Blu Ray collection.
I am looking to amass a huge collection for myself...for real cheap.
Do you not use the main menu or top menu button
I perfer home media cause
1 case with Art
2 Special Features
3 Sometimes Disk Art
4 u can buy any film u like
( Netflix can do that to however they suggest other films to that I do not want to watch like I watched Black Panther and it says since you like Black panther try The Emogi Movie) and I don’t like the emoji Movie
5.- you actually own that movie
@@lamecasuelas2 It's also infinitely more expensive.
@@hejalll not too much, unless you're into Crtiterion or Arrow
@@lamecasuelas2 A blueray is like 15-20$. For that money you can watch any movie you want on Netflix for a month.
first world problems...
but great video niki
Streaming is more convenient, but I personally love having physical things that I can hold in my hand, also it doesn't feel like you actually own something unless you can hold it in your hand and do whatever you want with it, I also might be the only person who doesn't mind weird packaging.
Digital distribution sucks..you don't own anything.
Owning isn't the point. What's the use of it? Availability is the point.
When all the old folks pass away physical will finally be gone.
Unless it's VUDU then you can own it Digitally
According to youtube you don't even own your comment
Astroblast3000 Gaming true, only downside is if your internet goes out you’re fucked. Or if you are in a location with mediocre connection with a less than 25mbps you can’t get the full experience of UHD
Good vid Niki! Keep it up
Hi niki ...y r videos are awesome👌👌👌
You can sell the slip covers. I personally like slip covers cause it makes the packaging look better.
I always buy physical media for movies that I really love and classic movies such as Star Wars franchise, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, Alien, Predator, and many more!
That nostalgia!
You should consider selling those movie sleeves online their seems to be a growing group of collectors looking for them to replace or use them. They also help protect the actual case
I agree with u 💯 for everything
that's why I like dvds :D
What I miss most is good TV channels and their movie shows. PBS and especially TVO here in Ontario had a great midnight show called Saturday Night At The Movies. They would show classics to modern foreign films, and would prologue them with interesting trivia, why they're unique, controversy it created, etc. So it was like going to a friends house that's really into movies and learning. Not that I liked all the movies shown, but I appreciated them for their inventiveness and joy they may give to others. With Netflix and all now, there's nothing to preface the movie other than the selling synopsis of Action, Comedy, Drama, etc. and a brief plot at best. Thankfully for YT and folks like you Niki, I get a more in depth look at what I may find interesting and/or what to avoid. The packaging is getting insane too, I agree. I miss the DVD's with a little chapter card or pamphlet inside a easy to open clam shell case. Then this crappy cardboard casing and reduced plastic method to presumably reduce excess and weight for shipping and stocking. But actually doubling the impact with DVD's, Blu-Ray, and 4k all being delivered at once now. I will give kudos to "premium blu-rays" from Korea et al. They really put effort into their releases, be they classics like 2001, or sleepers like Her. Proud to own and display those. But honestly, YT here is my starting point. If you or others recommend a movie, I may check out the trailer here or on IMDB. If I think it maybe interesting to sit down with, I'll either borrow it from the library, or buy a cheap DVD of it on Amazon or 2nd hand. And if I really love the movie after, I'll try and score a premium BD or Criterion DVD of it and turn in the DVD to a store or a friend. Not at all intrigued by Netflix really, other than Bong Joon Ho. And yes, I got Okja on DVD now too. Don't ask me how, but it's out there. :)
Hey Niki! Are you still buying DVD movies?
If it doesn't exist on Blu-ray, I buy it on DVD yes.
I never changed to blueray. I just use DVD or Online Streaming
While Blu Ray and 4k Blu Ray are almost identical...DVD and Blu Ray are miles apart. I had a huge DVD collection and once I saw Blu Ray magic I couldn't go back to DVD. I Started my collection over. Blu Ray will probably be the best and last format I own/collect. 4k Blu Ray isn't worth it. But I am glad 4k Blu Ray came out because now standard Blu Ray is CHEAPER!!! YES!!! I got movies like Wonder woman and Kong skull island and so on...on Black Friday for $5.99, yes!!!! And those movies on Sony 55' xbr900e upscaled looked amazing!!! Bt 20/20 color spectrum, with professional calibration, and a triluminous display make Blu Ray look just as good as 4k movies!!!! Yes!!! Screw Netflix... It will never produce this type of picture and sound quality!!!! Yes!!! Blu Ray forever!!!
I tend to only buy blu rays if I’m a big fan such as the mcu or Star Wars or if they are meant to be good and aren’t on Netflix/amazon prime, which isn’t much because I live in the UK
I think the best way is to diversify. Most of the time I buy blu rays with digital copies included. But if the price is right I might buy a digital copy or physical on their own.
You‘re the most impatient person I‘ve ever discovered lol
reminds me of the "You Know What's Bullshit?" DVD episode
The Ignored Gender Yup but updated.
Great video Niki
I have the best of both worlds.
I get the disc than copy it to my NAS and then I can stream blu-ray or 4k blu-ray quality to any TV in my house.
Also I never copy the menus. This way I have instant playback.
physical media is not dying. Actually this era is the greatest era when it comes to physical media. You can purchase a film in 4k and get a digital copy, blu ray copy, and 4k copy. That's 3 versions of the same movie. That's insane. And it will pretty much last your entire life unless you lose the movies and lose access to whatever app you have the digital movie installed under. It has been 2 years since I started collecting movies and it feels like the 80s and 90s all over again. Collecting my favorite movies and watching them. It feels like i'm watching them for the first time. Cause now i'm noticing stuff in the movies I did not notice on vhs or dvd on a crt tv. Anyone who says physical media is dying don't know what their talking about. In the next couple of months The Running Man, Twin Peaks, Twins, Big Trouble in Little China, Back to the Future, and Beverly Hills Cop Trilogy will all be coming to blu ray or 4k steelbook. And I will be buying all of them. Maybe physical media is dying for new movies. Because 90 % of the films are mediocre and are not worth buying physical copies. How many superhero movies can a person possibly watch b4 getting burned out. Do u guys think 40 years from now. Their will be a large library of movies that would be worth going back to watch like how we do with the terminator, back to the future, die hard, the predator and etc. Movies in todays era do not hold their value.
I agree with you about the tedious nature of blu rays, and definitely agree the menus are often times stupid in that they spoil the movie by showing key scenes. Who thought that was a good idea? But I will always choose physical media and support it 100%. Digital may take over at some point in time but while physical media exists I will continue to support it.
Back to The future has come out on Netflix and in The second one they cruedly edited the Scene with ulalah so that it was family friendly unlike the Blu-ray version which has The entre scene
I think part of the collection is somehow exclusive packing and cool menus. If not just buy some pirate DVDs and blu ray to have simple menus and cheap packing.
Victor Osuna :::: Exactly..!!! Way too much whining in this vid! 😂🤣..!!!
I love Physical Media and SlIp covers are a HUGE selling feature for me.
very entertaining
i put slipcovers on the shelf sideways when i get a movie out so i know were to put it back.
