My dad read and followed born to run for a year, no shoes and no heal striking. He says running like that wasn’t sustainable for his knees but agreed that the traditional running shoe is flawed because the heal is too high up. I’m sure different things work for different people but I must admit the running shoes he got we are awesome and really light.

He's definitely the type of player to actually do the 'research' and, as he mentioned, he's probably played it more than most since it's banned near every challenger game.
You are right though, it's stupid as hell. They just release "exciting" things. They don't give a fuck about how the game actually functions. I swear back in the day, once it became an esport and seasons became a thing, riot got super serious about patching for about 2 years. They would patch champions around item timers and spikes so no-one was ever 1comboing without being disgustingly ahead, they balanced mana costs so no one could spam abilities that shouldn't be spammed in lane, they balanced tiny things like base armour on champs that are too strong level 1, they constantly balanced items. They tried to keep everything viable, and when they introduced things, they tried to fit it into the game in a way that was intuitive and made sense to play with/ against. The game made sense, and you could make sense of it if you learned enough. Nowadays, throw balance out the window. Nobody in soloq is taking the game seriously, nobody bothers to learn the actual game anymore because they don't have to and it's impossible because it doesn't make sense anyway. If the enemy picks something like a Kayn you can just throw all logic out the window and assume that guy is either inting or 1v9ing, and the whole game will be decided on that. Everyone is just playing what is essentially Urf without a cannon, trying to pick the most broken champions they can, or counter picking them. The new design team and the one before them can suck one, completely ruined the game.
Another example of this is when they removed the cancer exp share from mordekaiser because everyone hated it then brought it back for nilah I think there's an argument to be made for context mattering and that principle of "there are fewer bad ideas than bad execution" but it still shows a lot of inconsistency which if you look at how abilities in the game work is basically riots mo at this point

Though that's an extreme example, that's kind of the the point. They set rules and guidelines so that their output is more stable. It streamlines the process by removing unnecessary decisions and waiting. But Riot at every new release focus only on making something wild trying to grab the attention of players... Ignoring all the things they've learned from balancing for years. The fact abilities have more and more walls of text in them is ridiculous. It has no positive impact on gameplay.
EG won their game so it's whatever but I think Meteos is right in saying that Anathema's would be really good here. They never really stopped playing Aphelios. He isn't picked a whole lot or "meta" but he's always been a solid ADC just because he is a ball of stats, a good laner, teamfighter, and a good scaler.
