See how this isn't about Miller and Petey? Alvin even stated it's less about two players not getting along. Boudreau said the "media is making mountains out of molehills" and that sounds exactly like what Myers meant when saying, "there was an incredible amount of unnecessary noise" and Quinn Hughes', "a lot of noise the last couple of weeks, months."
Now Alvin said he was trying to create a "healthy environment" for JT. In this case, 'noise' and 'healthy environment' are code for Vancouver media.
This entire Miller/Petey narrative basically made up out of whole cloth. Petey spoke of Miller with deep respect and gratitude. The players obviously loved him. But the media can NEVER be blamed yet I put 100% of the blame for Miller leaving at the Vancouver sports media's feet.

@@darienlechner8530 people are forgetting that Petterssons deal was signed with the cap going up in mind, so though he’s the 5th highest paid player in the league right now, expect him to go down in that ranking as contracts start to go up. Now he’s 5th highest paid so I reckon you figure he should be 5th in scoring? In a perfect world sure, but look around you, it doesn’t always work out that way. He’s had a down year without question, but it’s not due to JT or him sulking, he’s got tendinitis in his knee. It started last year right around when he started sucking, BEFORE he signed the deal and it would account for his laboured skating as he’s skating through pain. It’s not expected to be a long term injury, once he shakes this there’s no reason he can’t return to form. He still finished 19th in league scoring last year despite his developing issue, and the year before that he finished 10th.

I love it when people blame the media. Sure, media has a lot more access due to technology, but if you think the media is "toxic" now, you would have melted down in the 90s. Neil MacRae (RIP) used to rule the airwaves with criticisms of the Canucks as they began their descent in 1995. He kept saying they weren't good enough and needed help. You need the media to hold the franchise to account so everyone does their jobs effectively. Ignoring a problem doesn't make it go away.

This is just total BS hype from Patrick Allvin. He's now trying to make everything look happy and wonderful on the Canucks, so that he can justify the huge contract he and Jim Rutherford gave Elias Petterson, making him the 5th Highest Paid player in the NHL after Matthews, McDavid, Mackinnon, and Ovechkin, and more than many other more talented elite players, including Quinn Hughes. Allvin wants us to believe now that JT Miller is gone, Petterson is going to transform into an elite franchise superstar on the level of all the other big names. But it's all BS. It's NOT going to happen. Petterson is a good, talented player, but he is most definitely not a future superstar and Hall of Famer like Quinn Hughes. I wish he was, but Canucks fans are going to be very disappointed in the months and years to come.

Miller’s 32. 8x7 contract he signed last season takes him until he’s 37. Great point totals, but aging, defensively uninvested player who is known to be a bit of an issue in the locker room. Tampa bay has one of the best prospect/development systems in the NHL and they never gave him a chance, traded him for a small return. They knew. The defensive lapses in his game are going to get exposed later on in his career unfortunately.
I’m happy with getting Marcus Pettersson, Chytl if he can stay healthy, a depth guy and some prospects for Miller. We got the best out of him, and to my perspective, it’s downhill from here for him. Surprised we didn’t have to retain any of his salary honestly. We got him for a first, and we got more than that from his trade out.

@ You want this to elevate your play. Most players, win or lose (even Game 7) are even-keeled to a fault. They don't have the passion or desire to really win. If these candyasses cannot take it then that says alot about the weak and fragile nature of today's youth. Cower and give up when 2 goals down.
