There is a lot more work needed from the available staff when you’re completely dependent on tankers. Maintaining that water supply is its own entire skill set. Just something to consider when critiquing this operation. Where I volunteered, hydrants were abundant, population more dense, mutual aid resources closer; the interior attack mentioned in many comments is more manageable and more safe in circumstances other than what this department faces. Given the head start this fire had, they did alright in that anything was still standing. The drone perspective is spectacular.
STUZWORLDZ yes, that’s a collapsible tank that can be quickly set up, and used as a drafting source for pumpers at the scene. If there are enough tankers and a water source near enough, there can be a rotation of inbound tankers with rapid-dump discharges feeding water quickly enough to keep ahead of need. There may be a water-supply officer who’s responsible for coordinating it all.
Not to mention that the Ariel was positioned on the wrong side of the house! It should have been positioned on the Delta Side. ( Up Wind ) for superior visibility
I like the added drone shots. When I watch fires, vehicle wrecks and more, I like to see more, than a few minutes. Some channels have it, where you're riding in the emergency vehicle, but it all stops, when you arrive at the scene. Wrecks, accidents, fires and the rest, can be filmed, and still not show the people actually involved. Just don't film them. Most if not all the channels who only take you to the scene, then don't show the rest, are the ones I stay away from. The channels that use actual dashcam footage, from police and fire and others, are some of the best to watch.
in tn when drones first appeared, ppl flew them over the fire getting to be annoying to fire personnel, they would water them away. so keep them out of the way
Great drone action. Really captured the fire from angles you don't usually see from rural fire coverage. Well done. Unfortunately, the house and garage were too.
Great video!!!!! I was wondering about the attack strategy. Is there an interior attack happening? They vented, which was good. Seemed like a lot of water flowing outside in.
It is vey easy to second guess. But a lot of wasted effort attacking the fire on the end of the garage away from the house. Seems to me that venting the roof of the garage very close to where it attached to the main structure and doing as much of an interior attack in that very same area very well might have prevented extension of the fire into the 2 story “main” portion of the structure. And then the two FF’s attempting to vent the roof along the ridge leads me to make a couple additional observations: First and foremost, they were venting in the wrong area. And, having said that, it didn’t appear to me as if venting was even necessary by that stage of the fire.mm
The drone footage is a really neat perspective. They have obviously practiced rural water supply operations. They have that down pretty good. Now if they were just practiced at putting that water on the actual fire. It was a good effort, but a lot of that effort was misguided. There was unnecessary damage to the main house.
That was just a damn big house. Trying to put it out with what looks to be limited manpower and only having so much water makes it tough. No need to criticize.
you actually see nothing but a burning house. to make a difference the drone should provide tactical info. along with thermal camera footage. this is - good footage no doubt - but only for a news station.
Would you be willing to share info on the drone you were using? VERY HIGH QUALITY IMAGES and great stability! (I'm on the west coast so don't worry about competition - 😁) Thanks!
What do you mean by high tension? Do you mean it isn't properly sagged? It looks like 3 phase 13.8KV normal distribution voltage to me. I would guess that "unity" or whomever their electric utility is probably had that line in place prior to the home being built.
How did your house get on firedo you be getting did you forgot to shut the microwave off or the coastal was it Joe despagni back I'm Adriana Louis so let me know if tell me when how did the house bye I love the videos you are making
Your comment about the placement of the Arial Truck uninformed. If they had placed the Truck on the Delta side, they probably would have lost the Truck. Rural Departments with no hydrants have to contend with sceptic systems. Most of the time sceptic tank and drain field is located on the grassy side of the home. Notice none of the heavy Engines drove on to the lawn with the large brown circle. Learn from what you are looking at.
Firefighter safety is always priority, the house will be a total loss regardless so why risk safety to save something that’s already gone, incident command has the training to know what’s safe to do and what’s not so based on what I’m seeing and the manpower available it’s safer to stay out and surround and drown, no sense loosing life if something isn’t savable.
fast fire suppression. I have watched many structure fires and most are way to much time getting the hoses charged and wet stuff on the red stuff. Even more impressive is lack of hydrants and the use of portable pond.
and why the fuck do we have 2 handlines hitting it from the outside when the room they’re hitting has already been self vented by the fire out of the roof. The fire has a place to go now that won’t extend to the house that gives you enough time to make a quick knock of it. What type of “I go to 2 fires a year” bullshit is this? It should have never left the place of origin with 3 trucks on the initial arrival.
Not sure where you got your fire education from, but you can't push fire with water. It doesn't work like that, you can push heated gasses with the air movement by the fire streams (aka air entrainment) but it's not the same thing as "pushing fire". The research is out there, more people need to look at it and embrace it. The science of fire is ever changing.
Have you watch videos of FDNY. Lots of firefighters standing around while they fight the fire from tower trucks. I think the days of putting firefighters at risk are over.
Big Dog maybe where you volly at lol. Trust me fdny goes interior. You see guys standing around bc a one alarm brings 70 ff’s and those guys are on deck to go interior, not to sit and flow water from the outside. What a joke
I know they do it for tradition .. and maybe nostalgia .. and I know they've even gone LED, .. having said this, I still hope that within my lifetime Michigan will get rid of the "Gumball" roof lights and the hood signs .. and let the poor cruiser mature into the look it deeply desires? My next mission is to convince troopers, nationwide, to retire the old imposing Campaign Hat and go with something that warms their poor exposed ears. Great video .... Cheers
YES YOU DO! To film with out permission is a VIOLATION of Privacy! First Responders are NOT Protected from the Law. A permit is required by F.A.A for ALL Tactical Units Including but Not limited to the Military.
Being a lifelong Michigan resident I've always hated those gloves on state police vehicles. The newer "blinking" ones are even worse than the previous rotating ones. They can't be seen well in daylight. It's time to screw "tradition" and go with a low profile red / blue light bar like most other agencies do. Those gloves are outdated and useless.
This is how fire ground videos should be shown...from the air. Well done, sir.

whats the big Square thing a portable water pond type holder...and in this senario how would that help if only tanker....? anyway curious...thanks

@@NJCommutr when I was on department they had certain people trained for setting up and telling tankers where to go to get water.

Nice job on the remodel 🚒🚒🚒🚒

Jeff Craig I’m just a random
Guy with a drone. I don’t know about their attack strategy.
Great job with the drone
Excellent drone photography, thanks. Fire departments well co-ordinated and they did a great job . 😃👌👏👏👏👏👏
Seems to me that the fire should never have gotten to the house. It should have been contained to the garage.
MrEastern021 Exactly! Dear me!

Have to say that was a great use of a drone. Great video.
That drone footage was great, hopefully Fire depts can find these useful.
Great drone footage!
Excellent video suitable for a news report by itself.

American fire firefighters always appear so laidback, they are in danger of falling asleep.
Losing your cool and running around like a chicken with your head cut off doesn't help anything. Calm officers and firefighters make good decisions.
Wow great drone footage man really gives you a good overlook of the situation it makes sense why fire departments have started using them now also

This fire was nowhere near over. What happened?
Great drone footage.
Excellent drone video! GoPro camera by chance?
Wow great capture
Nicely done - thank you!
Really good drone footage! Sorry about someone's property though! Ugh
Looks to be some high tension wires rite over the house and fire. Didn’t know unity could run lines like that

Buldgr awesome reply boss thanks for sorting that out.
What type of drone was used?
Were they trained by the keystne cops.
Amazing video. Good job.
They 4th of july parade is the best because of those guys. The come through and have water fights with all the kids. Really a stand up dept.

what kind of drone did you use?
Are they ok with you flying near the fireground? Seems risky. Cool footage though.
Grabasandwich yes. I had express permission.
What’s the exact location of this fire?
Metamora, Michigan. The blue police vehicles are MSP (Michigan State Police), and at 1:50 you can see "Hadley Township" on the truck.
Holy crap, I've lived in Michiganall my 49 years and I've never heard of this city! Had to Google it.
Allan R yep
The huge metropolis of Hadley
well done guys nice job
One of the worst fireground ops I have ever seen, what even happened to going inside a burning building !!
It's a huge building, way to much fire to contend with and it's already a goner. No need to risk lives to get your gear smokey.

So if it’s a total loss, why would you put men on the roof?
Seems like they did everything in their power not to go interior...lmao
sawyer tabit But got that drone footage for the banquet vid!
This place like heaven
Nice footage!
WTF operation was that , how or why did you guys let it spread to the house . Bad job fire guys . Maybe it's time to go back to school
Good drone footage hate to see someone's home destroyed !!
Great job of hitting it hard from the yard! You lose structures you don't aggressively attack.
Nice Catch! Awesome footage!
Hope everyone is ok

This is a very rural area, I honestly dont think there is hydrant in town. Alot of ponds with hookups for the trucks to draft from.
Lack of strategy...why the hell didn’t they hose the garage from the open roof which they let spread to the house??
So sad 🙏🏻
Where is this place? I cant fined it in google maps
south of Lapeer michigan

1st Amendment, Right to free speech, Right tp free press. You can film anything visible in public. There is no expectation of privacy.
You DO however have to use a drone in an emergency zone without interfering with operations.
fire fighter could fell threw that roof look like was just about to burn threw
