See Polly is like all the women i grew up with in my life. Aunts, Grandmothers, Ex... I never understood sexism as a kid because everyone especially the men feared them. I think like most things in life its how you handle things.
“I’m in American... my baby will be born in NY” Basically means, she is not like them- not stuck in the history but makes her own path and stumps on the establishment and makes her own. And the second half is-- “I have Michael under my control and I’m taking this organisation from within and the next generation will be relocating institutions and establishments made in my image” It’s a power move. She’s giving Pol the opportunity to join them or else she and Michael will dispose of her.
That first half you explained is how I received it but it just sounded disrespectful to me. I didn’t catch that second half you said at the time but that’s true as well. Appreciate that fam!
@@eternal47777 To me, I just loved that Tommy couldn't give a shit about them being nuns. The way he ordered her to look at him before he told her, funding withdrawn. He knew ,that even to nuns, money was king.
Loving these, would be great to see you do Boardwalk Empire another show about gangsters from this era but set in the U.S some great story lines and brilliant actors including one of my favs Omar from the Wire
I said before most of my favourite scenes were in season 5 and the church scene was one of them! Polly doesn’t even have to raise her voice and she’s still terrifying 🙈 and also completely agree with your views on the Church I’m Irish and the shit that has gone on with the Catholic Church here is sickening
You are so right about the church ! A man made institution ! Playing spiritual ! That’s why the old romanies plus Polly was born with the craft of the wise ones ! Nothing to do with god as man sees it ! Your country should look more to the American Red Indian for their take on spirituality x
@@Sam-bl1sc hes saying its a bar to the previous line, and as he is saying, another line is being said and he does not hear it because he too busy saying "thats a bar" about the previous line, no hate though
Melek Maaouia Trust me, I completely understand what you mean because I used to think the same, that he may miss the next line, but I’m pretty certain he still hears and catches on, at least he reacts and knows deeper meanings and powerful messages within the writing and script. It isn’t just ground-level understanding of words, or at least I believe so.
Daaamn i didn’t even notice Tommy pickin up that chess piece.. this show is amazing
MikeMcFly The best part
Yup 👍🏽 I got that s**t 🙌🏼💯
s5 gotta be one of the best seasons of peaky blinders, so much shit goin on, tommy depressed, arthur crazy af, love it.
Tommy makes some boss moves in this season but maaaan am I excited for season 6 😁😄
Polly's line, is probably the BEST line ever.
The character of "Polly" was based on Steven Wright's (the creator and writer) aunt.
I wish you could find a way to upload your full episode reaction. I’d love to see it. I enjoy your insights so much.
Thecarpenter Appreciate that✊🏾 Patreon will be up in the next 2 weeks

Thomas Ellis Tia means Aunt in spanish
Eternal47 oh right😂thank you
There is God...and then there are the Peaky Blinders...
Stop saying that was a bar and focus on what they're saying
He says it’s a bar because he focused on what they said.
