- This is a special episode because we can now say, even though we have done two previous ocean crossings, that we have crossed an ocean under our own sails!!
We left Mexico three weeks earlier, stopping at some remote islands for scuba diving for a week, then sailing another several weeks, even crossing the equator for the first time! Sailing was amazing, and we were very lucky to have gotten the winds that we did!

We are pretty far behind actually, and are now in Tahiti, going to stay here and do a loop back to the marquesas by this spring to start all over again, but then will head to Auz & NZ for next summer, would love to have you on the boat at any time!! Wow! This episode was amazing. Starting with the deck level view of the huge swell coming into the Marquesas and closing out with you, Warren, giving that little Honda a pat, followed by a flop in the stream. Friendliest people for sure. Your drone footage is National Geographic quality. Words don’t do justice to the beauty of the islands or the journey to them. And, yes, a dream “made” true through a lot of effort. Word to Deed.

Awesome Video, We went from Melbourne Fl to Bimini once on a 40 Beneteau. I remember when we came back, it was strange feeling trying to sit and eat breakfast without weaving back and forth. I can only image after 34 days at sea... pretty cool stuff.. quite beautiful..

Being a busy body here. (I apologize in advance.) I sailed on a chartered Helia out of La Paz that had a bad hydraulic seal in the steering. Normal turning of the wheel did nothing. Fast jerks would move the rudder. (Autopilot worked fine). Any center tape on the wheel meant absolutely nothing. (I remember turning the wheel round and round and round.) The indicator screen for the rudder position was outboard and low down of the helm. The only possible way to read it during daylight was if someone got on their knees and cupped their hands. If I had hydraulic steering I'd keep a couple of spare seal kits (doesn't look like a difficult job, but I'm sure it has it's headaches) and if possible I'd move that indicator monitor - where it was on that boat is completely useless. And I'm sure you know all this and have it covered, but just in case....

I'm loving the journey and living the dream through the four of you. I'm guessing that is Fatu Hiva. Is there any form of immigration or do you just run ashore, go to the bar, and grab some baguettes along the way...lol
Hey thanks Graham! Y’a you’re correct, Fatu Hiva, and by landing there we did kinda break the rules a little, but also made our first experience much better by being able to sail way more easily from island to island working our way to Nuku Hiva… it’s not for everyone, a few have even been upset that we did that, but it was very worth it… either way, thanks for the message, and stay tuned :)
