This is the best video on encabulation I have seen so far. Had problems related to this years ago with my Geo and it came down to incompatible molecular alignment of the intake air charge and the residual ignition aura.
Converting a water methanol injection system to supply equal parts Holy water/ Fukushima reactor cooling water and Ganges river water from the Bay of Bengal which I had mixed by twelve virgins at the Samye Monastery during the planetary alignment of may 25 2013.
Never knew how much time I was losing to encabulation until I broke 88 miles an hour to the 60 foot and negative time all the way from half track. Really underrated science here.

A while back there was a company that created a machine to undo bad encabulation. They called it the retro encabulator. Cars equipped with retro encabulated engines were said to have been capable of 100MPG or more. Of course, you can probably already guess the rest. Big oil bought them out and killed the project. There are videos out there on the machine though, they haven't managed to silence it completely. A mechanically minded person should easily be able to understand the concepts presented in the retro encabulator videos and apply them, it's pretty basic stuff.

Listen, I learned this as a rookie partsman in 1978 at a parts store/speed shop. The "experts" the veteran hot rodders/racers would come in the store, go to the speed catalog rack, yeah parts books back then. They would get to the page that applied to their motor and just go to the bottom or nearly the bottom of the page and order that one. You know, 5800-8500 rpm to go with their stock converter and 3.42-3.73 gears. They couldn't find a Vega converter and couldn't afford the lousy high stall ones from B&M or someone like that. It was hilarious, even for an 18 year old. Stronger springs? Nah, these are fine, I turn it till it quits pulling all the time now with no problem. My $15 RAC tach is dead on accurate, it just quits going up at 6200, so I need a great big cam in it. Sometimes they were putting it in a Chevelle, sometimes in a shortbed square body Chevy 4x4 with a 4" lift kit and 14x35 Gumbo Monster Mudders. I'm serious. They knew everything, and were glad to tell you so.

I found the easiest way to determine the appropriate camshaft to put in my 74 Camaro 350, 2 bbl engine, feeding through a turbo 350. I opened the Competition Cams catalog and read the expected performance from each of their cams. I chose a cam designed to improve my performance on the bottom of the rpm range. Got the CC timing chain and gear set at the same time. Added a set of Cyclone headers and turbo mufflers. The good: remarkably better performance from takeoff up a little passed 4k rpm. The unexpected: I knew it would give less available vacuum to my power brakes but it made me panic for a couple seconds before I was able to remind myself it would happen. If I do another cam upgrade, I'll use the exact same method to determine my new cam. But your video was great too....and completely over my head.

For a number of years now, work has been proceeding in order to bring perfection to the crudely conceived idea of a transitional effect that would not only supply inverse reactive current for use in unilateral phase detractors, but would also be capable of automatically synchronizing cardinal grammeters. Such an instrument is the turbo encabulator.
Now basically the only new principle involved is that instead of power being generated by the relative motion of conductors and fluxes, it is produced by the modial interaction of magneto-reluctance and capacitive diractance.
The original machine had a base plate of pre-famulated amulite surmounted by a malleable logarithmic casing in such a way that the two spurving bearings were in a direct line with the panametric fan. The latter consisted simply of six hydrocoptic marzlevanes, so fitted to the ambifacient lunar waneshaft that side fumbling was effectively prevented.
The main winding was of the normal lotus-o-delta type placed in panendermic semi-boloid slots of the stator, every seventh conductor being connected by a non-reversible tremie pipe to the differential girdle spring on the “up” end of the grammeters.
The turbo-encabulator has now reached a high level of development, and it’s being successfully used in the operation of novertrunnions. Moreover, whenever a forescent skor motion is required, it may also be employed in conjunction with a drawn reciprocation dingle arm, to reduce sinusoidal repleneration. Thus allowing the encabulator to achieve new previously unobtainable hyper paranoctimers.

What he is talking about is Resonance Induction. When the intake pulses resonate they become lile a passive forced induction system.
Back in the old days, some builders placed the Carburetors at the en of a long tube. Depending of the length, shockwaves will be created in the same fashion is done at the exhaust.
The problem with that setup is the engine is locked to a set of RPMs. Have anybody noticed how some engines have no bottom end and all the sudden wakea up at let us say, 3,500 RPMs?
If you take a look at the GM 2.8L ~ 3.5L 60deg V6 engines their intake splits in half. Extending the length of the passage. The engine have like a flat spot from idle but at about 2,500 to 4,000ish the engine wakes up.

I always heard that if a 1988 speed density camshaft in a 5.0 mustang was held exactly at 5500 for a certain amount of time it would produce a destructive harmonic that would take out the rest of the engine. Thats one of the reasons Ford went to MAF in 89 which utilized a different cam grind alleviating the problem. Almost nobody outside the manufacturer had the ability to hold a given engine at an RPM long enough to simulate the engineering flaws, however.

The last time I heard of encabulation for camshafts was the Honeywell turbo encabulation as applied to camshafts for smoothing disharmonic spiral wave forming from counterbalance frequencies in the friction boundary between babbit metal and surface treatment of camshaft surfaces during high spring loading during high rpm operations. Encabulation had been replaced by digital constabulation of the film thickness of the friction pattern of the camshaft in the early 2000's

This is very informative! Thanks, Uncle Tony!
I had only known about the Turbo Encabulator that Chrysler did based on the original design by General Electric back in the 1940s...
I didn't know anyone had more recently applied it to camshafts!!
    Thanks! 👍👍

Measure lift @ 46 degrees past max exhaust lift to the start or bottom of the base circle, multiply by the rocker-arm ratio, deduct 1/3 of the valve lash, and then multiply that by lobe-taper.
Great! but how is lobe-taper determined for a solid roller like my Howard's 110-183-10 which is the best street cam I ever ran in my 1st gen smblk Chevy? With a 3:54 Dana 60 and a TKO 600 I was a regular Hway Star coming home on I-95 and I-4 from Jacksonville this Christmas and it didn't even break into a sweat.
Anyway, we take the calculated number and multiply it by intake duration. Now is that advertised duration or from .050" to .050" ? Then we square that number and subtract the total intake and exhaust lift. Is that at the lobe or the valve with the rocker ratio we're using and is it the addition of the two or just the highest between them; and all this calculation gives us an approximate multiple of engine RPM divided by cylinder bore? Then we simply multiply the square of the bore and 6.332 for a reference number to compare our calculated value to and if it's lower great and if it's higher "Aww S !" ?

Admit it Uncle Tony. You wrote Camala Harris’s speeches as a covert operator. Good on you. Good on you. Patriot. On a serious note. My early cam shaft choices were made at the engine shop in the 70s went this way. How choppy is the sound when idling? Good thing I was straight drive manual. Because by then I was broke and would of had no money for a converter.
