Run Cycle Tutorial - Copy Paste method - Part 1
Вставка
- Опубліковано 17 вер 2024
- Setting it all up:
- Create session with 24 fps
- Load stage big
- Set movie clip time
- Import scout, rig Biped Simple
- Set root to default via procedural, then position in scene using X.
Setting character up:
- Parent hands to pelvis,
- Parent knees and elbows to root,
- 0 pelvis PosX
- Set transform settings for feet
Blocking out contact pose:
- Top half of the body generally opposes the bottom half
- 3rd lowest pose
- Hips tilting down on the front foot side
- Get the Pelvis and hips positioned before working on the foot
The Down:
- Lowest pose
- Right foot flat on ground
- Left foot moves down and rotates
First Inbetween:
- Use Transform path to see arcs and distance/timing.
- Pelvis position X must be going up in constant linear increments.
Last contact pose:
- Distance between Pelvis PosX and foot in front must be the same distance as the first contact pose.
Copy Paste methods:
Use connect mode on any attribute (e.g PosY, RotZ) that ends up on the same value it starts off at (like a wave), unless it continues to move forward (like the pelvis and feet).
Guys this is a comment for personal reference, please ignore.
Setting up and first pose = 0:00-8:59
Setting up second pose and onwards = 9:00-13:00
Setting up the distance between every pelvis move (X-axis) = 13:31-end
thanks man
This is way way too advanced for me but thanks for intertaining me
I hate to do this but my ocd won’t allow me to not correct you
*entertain
@@plate5404 yeah sorry english isn't my first language so my spelling is pretty bad
Thanks for the in-depth tutorial. The explanation really helped too!
Great vid couldn't have done it without you
You skipped out on quite a few things, like after changing the pelvis' position Z to 42
Zubbins What do you mean by I skipped out? Like I didn't narrate what I was doing? If so that's because it doesn't really need explaination, I'm just posing the character by moving and rotating parts to get it to look similar to the pose in the reference.
When I put the second mark and try to place the right leg to the position, the rig_foot_r is not MOVING WITH ME and bugs when I move it... Any help?
I've got a certain issue regarding the copy paste method. When enabling "Paste connect mode", certain parts of the model behaves strangely, mainly the feet. The "Paste connect mode" changes the tangents completly.
I pulled this off, but the animation goes too fast. So, I put every keyframe in every 2 frames, but now it goes too slow. Is there any way I can move my keyframes between the first and second frames.
Example: 1.5 keyframe - 2.5 keyframe - 3.5 keyframe.....
Zoom into the timeline before moving keyframes, you can move them in smaller increments that way
EpicWinNoob
Gee. I completely forgot about this comment. Lol well, thanks for the info. Though I kinda learned a bit more over time. Got another animation coming out and this was pretty helpful. Lol
The values that I input into the fields (0 for pelvis, 80 for rotation, etc) doesn't work though. I can only drag the sliders to move them.
Any ideas why?
Thanks for this video BTW. I haven't finished it cause I'm following it closely on my own program too =D
Hmm for the values thing, make sure you have selected the attribute (X Loc, Z Rot etc.) and the key marker, then input the values.
At 3:07 notice how I select the controller, then the attribute, then the key marker, then input the value and press enter. Let me know if that does/doesn't work.
Amazing! 10/10.
The knee kind of bends backwards for some reason, why does this happen? It seems to be because the knee is parented to the root.
I have that issue as well. If I move the foot too far the knee just contorts. It doesn't seem to be an issue in the video, but I can't loop my cycle fluidly because the bones just get all over the place.
The guy didn't specify that to make walking/running animations you have to select rig_biped_simple, which simplifies a lot these kinds of movement. That's the reason the bones are all over the place
Thanks mate
he did say it in the "setting it all up" part near the beginning :)
So, Will, with this method i can determine that you bring to us the Pose-To-Pose, step by step, blocked method of animation?.
Well, this way results even a lot more comfortable.
wow man thanks im improving on my animation
thanks guys
How about walk cycle? But no move toward
I know! :D
Thanks!
3:09 like if you thought the sound of your computer/tablet was broken XD
fuck you
Like beggar after 2 years
For some reason (at 15:55) the red lines on the xPos aren't straight for me; their curvy. The pose still looks fine, I was just curious as to why your lines are straight and mine aren't.
+SFM Crafto Care to take a screen shot? If you're talking about the lines inbetween the key markers, this is because the tangents haven't been set, and they're probably very long. You can fix that by selecting the keys and then changing the tangents to spline.
+Will Hurrell How can I send you a Screenshot?
Use the Snipping Tool on Windows, and some kind of third-party program on Mac or Linux. Then simply upload to Imgur and send the link here
Why isn't the body parts staying there? when I move a body part it isn't attached
when i type something in like *=2 and hit enter it does not go through it stays the same i think my setting's are messed up please help me thx.
thanks i did this part :)
Sweet, my comp is running like shit so I can't animate right now.
Windows performance mode?
Clean out dust from computer?
Reformat?
I reformatted. All good in the hood. I appreciate the concern :D.
***** The difference is that i can't animate with motion editor..
At long last!
I need help on how to rig. The rig doesn't help me
You need to take rig biped simple ! Don't thank me
why does the leg twist when I rotate the foot
THIS IS SUPER HARD TO LEARN ;-;
How do you make only one bodypart move
Around 2:40 when you type in -5, that changes nothing for me.
+Didgeridont Make sure you have the right foot, position Y, first key frame selected.
I'm new with SFM. And if there are frames, well no tutorial tells how to add them. :(
Well, if you want to add KEYframes, then press M on your keyboard. This only works in the motion or the graph editor. I personally prefer the graph editor
can you give the link of photo pls? :3
and I have to say that you are getting better on sfm
I think is a no
@@hyku.3 man :/
I can't even use sequence running right. Help please. :'(
Me too
@@computernoober7823 Me too
+Will Hurrell if I move te pelvis it just moves the whole model plz help
+Ruben Brouns Make sure you've got the biped rig and select only the pelvis 0:40 number 4 on the list.
+Will Hurrell o i forgot to mention i don't use the scout but a Young Link model and the biped simple rig doesn't work on it
+Ruben Brouns That'll be why. The reason why the feet stay still in this rig are because it's IK aka inverse kinematics. Without a rig it'll be forward kinematics meaning the program has no way to solve where to position the leg. So without a rig that'll always happen.
+fixitinpost do you know where i can find a rig for Young Link because I can't find it anywhere
+Ruben Brouns Opps wrong account. Oh well. The only way would be perhaps, is to get the current biped_simple script and change all the names of the bones in the script to the names of the bones in the link model, very slight chance that would work. Where did you download the link model?
How can you be in the year 2014 and still be using Windows 98?
I don't even think SFM would run on 98.
windows classic theme for windows 7
Wheatley9001 Hmm, makes sense actually
Is it just Me or scout runs like a roblox character
what the hell happened to scouts legs in the last keyframe at the beginning of the video? xD
How do you scroll the graph editor?
Never mind, Also, can i save the run as a thing that I can import into different sfms?
DM Ryder Yes export the animation
Well, I'd rather keep it more simple for everyone to unterstand it.
anyone know how to change seconds to frames in the timeline?
How in 2:40 Its hard it doesnt work I ALSO HAD THEPOSITION OF Y -_-
This is actually more like... uuuh speed walk. :/
I Cant Get The Bones D:
How do you add frames
KaT Animations first of all they are called SHOTS and you press b
BonusLife first of all they are called FRAMES and you press m
BonusLife you were telling him to blade a shot which was wrong.
instructions were not clear :(
its great and all but i the problem is with these kind of tutorials
i dont want to watch a tutorial that are 22 or 30 min long
Then you won't learn much
Specs?
Why is that important? Check the system requirements for SFM.
I swear people set up bots to comment with "specs?" to waste people's time
Or am I just stupid?
Are you still having this problem?
THIS IS TOO FUCKING MAINSTREAM
You're too mainstream :P
I think im gonna literally cry if i don't learn how to make these ;
