This is seriously the best guide to London ever! I really love your channel. Can't wait to visit London for the first time after living in finland for 15 years. And it's been my dream to visit since I was a kid (big fan of britpop bands here). I'm hoping for the best travel experience ever
This channel is awesome! I'm from Switzerland but go to London about once a year at least altough i think i know most of the important stuff still learnt a couple of things! Keep doing theese videos they are brilliant!
Thank you for this. I'm going down on Wednesday for a uni open day, and I really needed help on buses. They're so different up here. Hopefully I'll be moving there in September, so your videos are helping me so much!
I do like the 8-bit computer graphics. I can still make out the little details. Follow the advice though. Seriously. Londoners are NOT patient! Ignore and you risk angry mutters, or being shoved/elbowed. Walking slowly in large groups and not paying attention will earn you the same. LEAVE SPACE for fast walkers.
This video should be compulsory viewing for all London transport users. Can't tell you how many times I have gotten frustrated with people not moving down the train!!!!!
wwooowwwwww, impressive, I like this information, you are completed my questions about the Oyster card, you are my hero because I live in London in 3 days and i didn’t no who use this card. Thank you
This was very useful to me. I did not know you shouldn't tap off the busses. The Opal system in Sydney is so similar but with a couple of very important differences. Opal cards need to be tapped on and tapped off of buses, trains and ferries.
That was a brilliant idea presenting The Wrath of the London Commuter as a video game. As a future visitor to London and transportation need, I'm still debating whether contactless via Apple Pay or an Oyster with a weekly travelcard would be the better option though.
nice video! some other ideas for your videos: public toilets around London&how to find them, different types of underground trains, when it's convenient take a bus or underground in term of time. Bye! :D
London city has always attracted tourist due to its urban spaces, old history, museums and so much to eat and visit. There is a famous saying London has everything for everyone, do try waterloocars.co.uk best travel partner

What type of transportation can i not use the oyster card. I can not find a video anywhere. Planning a trip around London. From heathrow. To London. To stansted to isle of man. To bath. Back to London. Home by gatwick
Super video man. Loved it. Can you please also make a video on Big Bus Tours? Will be very helpful. I am visiting London in a couple of weeks and need to know more about this hop in and off rides.
Thanks for the advice on having my payment ready and using the tube outside of rush hour and standing on the right . I avoided being mauled by that vicious creature the London Commuter
I'm traveling in London for 3 days, most likely taking the tube 3-4 times a day. Should I use a Pay-as-you-go Oyster or the Travelcard? Super helpful video!
The Rush hour during afternoon isn't so intense like the morning rush hour. London Underground is much cleaner than Paris metro and isn't full of immigrants. Oyster card can't be recharged online with a non British credit card. The underground stations far away from town-down don't have barriers and easy to forget using the oyster when leaving the station. Greenwich station doesn't have barriers. Buses during working hours are extremely slow in the London center. After 19:00 are faster, cheaper and you can see London better. Many underground stations are very close together and is better using your feet. Piccadilly, Leicester square, Covent garden, charring cross, Tottenham court road, Oxford circus etc are too close together. You will gain only 10-15 minutes and spent 4 £. Better enjoy walking and have a free coffee.
Hi, ur vedios are really useful. :) I am travelling from liverpool to london heathrow T5. I have an orange ticket (the rail tickets) which is to heathrow underground. my train stops at london euston and it says I have to tke tube from then onwards. Please could you help me out as to : 1. how will I get from london euston to heathrow t5 and do I need to buy oyester card at this point? 2. comming back from lodon heathrow I need to get to the covent garden station. Do I need an oyester card there and how do I know which underground to take. really confised:( Thanks and any help much appriciated !
+Swati Sharma happy to help - that's why we're here! So if your rail ticket is to Heathrow Terminal 5 then that includes you tube fare so you won't need an Oyster card/to pay a tube fare. To get from Euston to Terminal 5 you need to get the Southbound Northern Line (Charing Cross Branch) to Leicester Square & then change onto the Piccadilly line. I really want to visit London, because I prefer to visit cities. Also I'm interested how cities around the world work. With the escalator I was a bit surprised. Sure here in Germany the system is the same. Standing on the right and walking on the left. Same with cars. The slowest traffic to the right, to give way for faster traffic on the left. I thought that this in London might be flipped. Overall a good rule in every country is not to act like a tourist, especially in crowded areas or in peak times, especially off season. I commute over 2 locations where tourists will arrive or be. That the airport (the train station that has not that many tourists there that will stay in the city) and the main station. It's terrible with people that stopping for no reason or walk all over the place. The best practice is to walk on the right side, so people don't walk into each other's and still can pass. I know where I want to go and I'm a bit faster. Don't be that person that forgot where to go or what to do. When you need to stop, make it in a place where not the main traffic is. Nobody likes tourists that act like such, when they need to be somewhere (work, home etc.). I know the places where a lot of tourists will be and I avoid them, when I can and when I'm there, I must act differently.
THANK YOU! I just ordered a Visitor Oyster for deliv to my addr is US. But OMG could not find how to do top up until your video. I assume I can use a credit card at the station machines. Regs, Milt.
+mill101 You are more than welcome! So glad you found the video useful. You can use a credit card but just be aware that your card issuer may charge you an exchange fee if it's a U.S card. Enjoy London!
Are these double decker buses easily available? When is the last bus available? I am planning to visit London in Spring. I will be at Kensington Mariott. I want to know if the bus frequency from here to various places is good?
Thank you - glad you are loving the videos - we love making them. My advice would be to walk or get a bus if you can, that way you get to see London. I would also say best to avoid the tubes during rush hour which is Monday - Friday 7am-9am & 4pm-7pm.
You are awesome! I'm just amazed. Informative, entertaining and dazzling. Where did you come up with the 8 bit graphic stuff? Great work Syrus! Love and cheers! 👍💗😘🇬🇧
Thanks for great videos !! What's the reasobably cheap and least trouble free way for me and my wife to travel b/w Heathrow and Central London with 3 kids and 5 big travelling bags? Thanks
+Nimal Jayasiri you are very welcome - so glad you like them. I would say with that much luggage the easiest thing may be to get a cab. The cheapest would be the Heathrow Express. I wouldn't recommend getting the tube with that much luggage. Enjoy London!

flying in and out of LGW, will be in london for 6 days and will spend the majority of it in zones 1-2... why wouldn't i buy a 7 day travelcard instead of an oyster card? plus if i buy my travelcard from a national rail station, i can apparently take advantage of the 2 for 1 deals that a lot of attractions have. so is an oyster card a better option than a 7 day travelcard that has unlimited travel for the zones i choose to buy for? thanks!
+joits Thank you so much for your message - the Oyster card will automatically cap the amount it charges you so you will pay the same as if you bought a 7 day travel card. But if buying a 7 day travel card at a National Rail station gives you the 2 for 1 deals then I would go for that! Enjoy London!
hi there need tips to visit all the fashion .....places in London and the best place to stay....I need to be able to walk around and get to Kensal Rise...help!
+Sonthia Coleman Hello, what do you mean by fashion places? In terms of where to stay I would recommend checking out air b'n'b to find accommodation options near Kensel Rise.
+city hacks London I totally interest in fashion trend forecasting and I want to be near key places in fashion such as WGSN, University, Shops ect like I want to stay some where centrally located but somewhere that has plenty of culture that I could walk around?
+Sonthia Coleman London is very much a fashion cultural hub so there are loads of areas centrally for fashion. Covent Garden, Oxford Street, Carnaby Street, Knightsbridge are some of my favourites.
I enjoy your videos! Was wondering if you have any suggestions about looking for a vacation rental? So many neighborhoods, different locations ... it's a bit confusing
I know - it is very confusing. Staying in zone 1 is very expensive. I think as long as you are in zone 2 or 3 you can still get into central very easily and it will be cheaper. Syrus ;-)
We (two adults) are planning on travelling to London for a 5 day period which includes travel to and from heathrow airport, as well as using the public transport to get from attraction to attraction. How much do you reckon we need to fill up our visitors oyster cards?
If you use the Heathrow Express or Heathrow Connect service you will need to buy that ticket separately. But I would advise buying it in advance to get it cheaper. If you use the Piccadilly line on the tube to get to and from Heathrow then you can use your Oystercard. I would advise to top up each Oyster card with £30 & then you need to add more while you're here then you can. Have fun!
+darryl swain Yes, so as far as I know they are trialling this at Holborn Station & a few other London stations & if that goes well that will roll it out all across London. So watch this space!
Hello, is there a card that I pay monthly for, that allows me to use the underground train as much as I want during that month? I would appreciate it if you reply and thank you a lot.
Hi! I need to get from Heathrow T5 to Central London (Bethnal Green, Zone 2, but I'd travel through Zone 1) by the Tube - I've already got an Oyster Card from my last visit, but no account as I need address in England for it - can I still use it as shown in your video? And what would I need to do at the airport - just put some money on it? How much?
Yes an oyster card & the credit on it never expires so you can use it. At the airport just top it up at one of ticket machines, try to use cash as using a foreign credit card may incur a foreign exchange fee. We say £15 for every two days you are in London! Enjoy!
Thanks a lot for this video, Syrus! Quick and maybe dumb question: I'll be arriving at Gatwick Airport on a Saturday and I need to take the Thameslink or the Gatwick Express (whichever comes first) ASAP, so I wouldn't want to waste any valuable minute. Could I use my Oyster visitor card to pay for the Thameslink/GW X ride?
Once you get on a bus, how much do they charge you (price of the ticket)? And does it depend on how many stops you're going or is it just a fixed price?
+Monika Vedrickaite on the buses you are charged £1.50 for a single journey no matter how far you travel. This is capped at £4.50 so you will never pay more than £4.50 to travel on multiple London buses in one day.

Hi, I am a new subscriber and I've been learning a lot from your channel.May I ask if I should get a London travel card and an oyster card at the same time since I will be staying in London for 15 days. Also, I will be staying somewhere in Maidstone, may I what is the best route to go there from Heathrow airport? Thank you
Hey! I am staying in London for only one day next week, and will mostly be travveling in zone 1 and 2. But i wonder how much i have to top up my oyster card with (or buy a day pass if it is better), thought you could help :)
+EsuDzn Hi EsuDzn, thank you for your comment. I would say buy an Oyster card in advance as it will cap your fares at £6.50 for each day for zone 1 & 2. If you buy a travel card it will cost you £12.10 a day as it is for zones 1 - 5. So loading your Oyster card with £15.00 should be more than enough. Let us know if you need anymore help.
city hacks London thank you! :) so actually when I've used up £6.50 it won't charge me for the rest of the day? And also thanks for the video, very helpful :D
hey their.....we r travelling to london with our 2 children one is 9yrs and 3yrs old.....just want to know can we travel with one oystercard or do we need to buy separately for each of us.....also how do we get to warwick from london Heathrow......thanku
+Salma Sultana as long as both you & your partner have visitors Oyster cards your children will travel for free with you as they are under the age of 11. To get from Warwick to Heathrow you need to travel from Warwick into central London & then from there you can get the Heathrow Express or Piccadilly Tube Line to Heathrow
Best way to get from Warwick to Heathrow: I'd personally use Warwick Parkway as it has more frequent trains but either Warwick can get you into London Marylebone. You then need to get to Paddington. I would not recomment the tube if you have bags. Walking is good if you all have wheelies/not too heavy bags, otherwise a bus/taxi is in your best interest. There is also a direct coach from Warwick Parkway to Heathrow and Gatwick! Hopes this helps.

where to swipe the card when you board through middle door of the bus ?
Thank you for answering my question, I don’t need to tap out when on a bus. I’d be using the bus to get from Sydenham Hill to Crystal Palace Park
You can also use your Oyster card on river boats and the O2 cable cars.
I do like the 8-bit computer graphics. I can still make out the little details.
Follow the advice though. Seriously. Londoners are NOT patient!

I love this guy so much! It's awesome!!

That was a brilliant idea presenting The Wrath of the London Commuter as a video game. As a future visitor to London and transportation need, I'm still debating whether contactless via Apple Pay or an Oyster with a weekly travelcard would be the better option though.
I don't think they're is much difference now days. The choice is yours ;-) Syrus

You won't get double charged on a bus. The Wayfarer machine will produce an error on screen saying that it has already been used.
Is Citymapper sponsoring this
I'm traveling in London for 3 days, most likely taking the tube 3-4 times a day. Should I use a Pay-as-you-go Oyster or the Travelcard? Super helpful video!

Yes! We did forget to mention that - it will def be in the next video. Do let us know if you think of anymore :/)
Hi, thanks for info. Do you know if I can use it from Heathrow to city?
flying in and out of LGW, will be in london for 6 days and will spend the majority of it in zones 1-2... why wouldn't i buy a 7 day travelcard instead of an oyster card? plus if i buy my travelcard from a national rail station, i can apparently take advantage of the 2 for 1 deals that a lot of attractions have. so is an oyster card a better option than a 7 day travelcard that has unlimited travel for the zones i choose to buy for? thanks!
+joits Thank you so much for your message - the Oyster card will automatically cap the amount it charges you so you will pay the same as if you bought a 7 day travel card. But if buying a 7 day travel card at a National Rail station gives you the 2 for 1 deals then I would go for that! Enjoy London!
where do we fill our oysters up
hi there need tips to visit all the fashion .....places in London and the best place to stay....I need to be able to walk around and get to Kensal Rise...help!
I love the endings! original...:)
thank you. it really helps.
Glad you like the video Sam. Please share with all your friends :-)
Hi, so i am going from london stanstead airport to wembley stdium. Will oyster card work there?
What if I’m taking a train and I get to the the station but I need to take the underground again? Do I have to exit the station and enter again?
Does Syrus still do videos?
I enjoy your videos! Was wondering if you have any suggestions about looking for a vacation rental? So many neighborhoods, different locations ... it's a bit confusing
I know - it is very confusing. Staying in zone 1 is very expensive. I think as long as you are in zone 2 or 3 you can still get into central very easily and it will be cheaper. Syrus ;-)
How do you pay for 2 people on the bus with a contactless card?
Have fun!
+city hacks London Thank you!
just a silly question, but about the escalators, is the new revolution standing on both sides? was told this on TV xD
+darryl swain Yes, so as far as I know they are trialling this at Holborn Station & a few other London stations & if that goes well that will roll it out all across London. So watch this space!
Does Cyrus still make videos?
Hello, is there a card that I pay monthly for, that allows me to use the underground train as much as I want during that month? I would appreciate it if you reply and thank you a lot.
With Contactless do I also need to touch out when riding underground?
+WilkElektronik yes, on the underground you always touch in & touch out.
So if i am correct the visitors oyster card is non refundable and the regular one is refundable ?
Yes you are correct.
Enjoy!
Thank you very much!
Please, where are you standing at 0:21 and how can I get there? :)
I am standing overlooking Kings Cross station. If you send me a message I can send you the exact location :-)
Can you do a video on traveling to London with kids?
This is on our list..........
(I would of course get my Oyster visitor card beforehand :P)
+Martín González D. I think (please double check this) that you can use your Oyster Card on the Thameslink service but not the Gatwick Express.
city hacks London Will do! Thanks a lot, Syrus! ☺
If you can use contactless, do you still need an Oystercard?
Being a British is so cool!

Thank you
Sorry, Stopped looking at 4:04 as I saw a Rolls Royce behind him at the roundabout..
It's not mine honestly ;-)
hehehe
