The man who always explain the history of the song before he plays it for the audience ,something that some DJs doesn’t do and this is exactly what makes people to respect this man

We are still here, those of us who knew Rodigan before he got the radio show. We know how heavily his demo tape and subsequent early style "borrowed" heavily from the "Mikey Dread "Dread at the Control" radio show in Jamaica. He used to sell records in the little record shop in the Peckham Rye station. It's cool!! If it wasn't cool then our fathers, uncles, older brothers would not have invited Mr. Rodigan into our community. But, we are going to take issue with anyone "crowning" David Rodigan, "The greatest dj/selector . . ." It would have highlighted the 'heavy lifting" the Windrush Generation did to help establish sound system culture outside of Jamaica, by simply saying, "Lloyd Coxsone took me to my first sound clash . . . !!" If you remember the significance of the "Ray Symbolic" tour, and especially if you were at any of the dances, you'll understand where I'm coming from.

Rodigan is the king of soundclash. He has paid his dues by collecting and playing Reggae records for fifty years, a great bloke and entertainer. Much respected by all lovers of Reggae music. THANK YOU MR. RODIGAN.

Yes you are correct, Shaka, coxsone,Fatman, Saxon, java and even earlier soundmen such as Duke Vin need recognition too. Respect to Rodders as he has interviewed legends like king Tubby, d brown, Shaka etc but let's not forget the pioneers .

Let's get something straight here back in the early days of reggae there was a time when the Americans didn't want this music and Jamaica was five years behind us when it come to reggae music therefore the British had a lot to do with reggae moving forward.

The only thing that I don’t like about this representation of the music I was born to, is that there is no way a black man with the same knowledge of this music would get on the Andrew Neil show. That really bothers me and there is no disrespect intended towards Rodigan because he has championed reggae for decades, but make no mistake his race, culture and background has had a profound impact upon how he has been promoted. That is not his fault of course. Respect Ram Jam!

I grew up in the UK listening to sound systems. Whilst most other teenagers went to the pub/disco, I was planning to listen to a sound system or to go to a Blues dance somewhere. Back in my day practically all of the public listening to sounds were like me, black and invariably also like me from a Jamaican/Caribbean background. What Rodigan says is true, there are now Reggae sound systems all over Europe. I now live in the Netherlands and listen to King Shiloh and others, Still, I find it naff hearing some guy who never grew with a Jamaican background trying to speak literally my mother labgyage, Jamaican patois ......Apart from one Dutch guy I know, they all sound really bad and pretentious.

then u not knw about the history of reggae or how JA and reggae artists around the world revere roddy. there is a huge difference between elvis stealing soul music and a dj selectah who has championed and promoted reggae music worldwide for 60 years.
