yes!
You could have come during covid to. Sweden didn't really had a lock down. Might have been tricky to come back home though 😄 And btw. you don't need a access card. In Sweden we have the right to roam nature. Allemansrätten.
I grew up in Sweden, and have spent many days in the rain there. You guys lucked out with the weather 😂
The only time I visited Scotland, we had fantastic weather for a week straight. Clear blue skies and around 20C temperatures. On the last day, the rain came down so hard that the windshield wipers couldn’t keep up. I guess we lucked out that week. For a variation of your meals, try “renskav” in a tunnbröd wrap. In case you haven’t tried it, it’s thinly sliced reindeer meat “shavings”. Not cheap, but very tasty. Although it requires refrigeration, so it’s probably not well suited for canoe trips.
Hi, yeah so far we've been lucky on our trips up to Scandinavia as far as the weather goes. Scotland not so much 😂. I'll look out for renskav on my next visit, I'm always on the look out for moose meat but I haven't found it yet; I assumed the supermarkets would be full of it but they don't seem to sell it at all. I still have a couple of frozen Falukorv's in the freezer though! I'm looking forward to returning to Sweden. Cheers!
@@Adventure-Outdoors you’ll find Renskav in the frozen section. You’ll typically find moose meat in the freezers of the hunters’ homes. You might find it in butcher shops (there aren’t that many of them left), or in well stocked grocery stores up north. Probably vacuum sealed in the specialty meats section. If you ever get the chance to try smoked moose heart, it’s delicious and tender.
Been looking forward to this one! What incredible good fortune on the weather front and thanks for sharing.
Yes we were lucky with the weather, it was still quite cold but no bother with the clear skies, might've been a different story in the rain! Thanks for watching 👍
Fantastic trip. Brilliant
Magic view at 14.13. Looks amazing
Nice video well put together, that salad with the egg in the middle looked really good.. 👍
Really enjoyed that Ben. So lucky with the weather conditions, just a shame you happened to contract a nasty bug from the water you drank, although you didn't let it bring you down. Good for you. Glad to see other canoeist paddling a folding canoes such as an Ally. I hope you manage to paddle yours in as many far away countries as I have and more. You'll definitely get your monies worth for sure, and if you look after her, she will last 20 years or more - mine is over 20 years and still going strong. They have their pros and cons, but their pro outweigh the cons for sure. The simply fact that you can take an Ally across the pond and canoe trip deep into the Canadian wilderness for multiple days or weeks is what appeals to me the most. Ok, they maybe slow and they have an auto eddy as soon as you stop paddling, but I can live with that. The option of not relying on outfitters and paying their ridiculous fees is the greatest benefit. Keep up the good work Ben & Trish. You're both welcome round our campfire. Oh, here's a blog of one our trips in Canada in our Ally for inspiration: www.songofthepaddle.co.uk/journey-to-the-centre-of-the-universe-wabakimi-ont-t32424.html
Cheers Fred, thanks for watching! We thought the Ally was great, perfect for the type of canoeing we do and being able to pack it away in the back of the truck is a bonus. When leaving the UK border control asked 'what's in the back of the truck?', I said a canoe, she said 'must be a small canoe', obviously got a bit suspicious and called the rest of the guards over to interrogate me 😂.
The only problem I had was with the keel pole, it became really bent out of shape at one of the joints (due to me being heavy handed with it I reckon) so I'm going to replace it. Other than that, it still looks new, barely a mark on the hull at all.
I'll get a cup of tea and read your trip report,
Cheers mate 👍
@@Adventure-Outdoors I would imagine it would raise a few eyebrows with border control, he he. As for the keel pole, I bent mine during its initial assembly. I just crudely bent it back into shape and have used it since. In fact, many of my poles have bent over the years, but they don't seem to affect the integrity of canoe when built. The Ally canoe can surprisingly take a considerable amount of abuse, more so than you think. You just need to be mindful of the single skin along the sides (freeboard-draft area) of the canoe, particularly where the poles are in contact with the skin. Enjoy the read, I think there's a link to the previous trip in the write up. Looking forward to the next instalment, take it easy buddy, Fred
Must admit, I pressed the ‘Like’ button about three seconds in, but having watched it all now, it was only a matter of time. Fantastic work,
both. Keep it up.
Well mate, I just about made it through that without falling asleep 😂 what a beautiful place! I really need to get up there and explore. Really enjoyed the editing! See you soon for a wild camp! You knowww it makes sense.
What a nice adventure my friend! Not far from where I live. You chosed the perfect time of year to have a great experience with all that nature pretty much for your self. Would have loved to share a kåsa/kuksa with that selected in that windshelter infront of a fire an evening like that. 💪🤠🔥☕️🤌. Enjoyed the video and Happy that You enjoy my surroundings in Sweden!
Hi Mattias, yeah it was great, really good to be back in Sweden after so long! 👍All the best mate 🍺
Looks lovely Ben ...I'm sure I'll get over to experience it myself at some point 😊
Well, this place is certainly organised!
Fantastic video of a truly stunning part of the world and so well set up for canoe campers.
You both looked so chiled!
I salute your choice of malt whisky - Laphroiag is 1 of the greats imho.
Thanks for that
ATB guys
H Paul, it was a great trip, we got lucky with the weather. Laphroaig is my favourite, £20 a bottle in Morrisons at the moment.....bargain! 😃🥃
ATB Mate 👍
Great episode. I hadn’t thought of this before but I’m going to look into if my partner and I can do this too. Thanks
Cheers! You should, it was a great experience and the area was very well set up for canoe camping 👍
Firstly. where you get your hat? I need a new one that's not going to blow off my head with every gust of wind. Secondly. Was Tris trying to catch the famous Swedish Tree Fish? 🤣 Finally. Really great video, brilliantly filmed mate, thought you really captured the peace and tranquillity really well, looked a stunning area and what with perfect weather, the lakes looked incredible! Shame you were ill with food poisoning or whatever the last day, hope it didn't spoil your trip. ATB.
Cheers mate, it was great up there, no one around! Aye the fishing didn't go too well, I swear there aren't any fish in those lakes 😂. The hat is a Tilley TWC7 Outback waxed cotton hat, really nice and I'd recommend one. You can pick them up for under £50, it's available in Navy and they're smart enough to wear around town. I've also got the TH5 Hemp hat which has a slightly wider brim and it's a bit more breathable for warmer weather, both excellent quality.
I think the cucumber might've been slightly off 😂,ATB Martin 👍
Wonderful video mate. Great feel like we are travelling along with you both. Still no sign of Bullwinkle then 😂
Cheers Steve, I'm starting to think there aren't really any moose in Sweden... or fish 😂👍
Really enjoyed this video, actually I’ve watched several of your videos now! All very enjoyable with useful information etc. Great photographs and real adventures! Do you still use your motorbike for advance, I’ve looked but not found anymore, just the one in The Borders Of Scotland.
Keep doing your adventures and making videos. 👌👌
Cheers, thanks for watching! I still have my bike but rarely use it anymore, maybe in the future I’ll get back out on it 👍
dream trip
mui bien
Belisimo Biutiful Lepo
It was the cucumber!!!
:)
Probably, it had been rolling around in the bottom of the food barrel for a week 😂
@@Adventure-Outdoors Oh my a week - must have been a tad soggy!
Looked a great trip, pity about getting ill.
Am tempted to go on similar myself one day.
Thanks for the inspiration. :)
Nice video as always👍
You guys picked the right time for this area. I paddled there a lot in the spring or fall. It's quiet in that time.
In the summertime it's all crowded up with stupid people who carried in by the company scantrack.
Cheers! Ahh yes Scandtrack, there were about 300 new canoes of there's piled up at Lenartsfors campsite. After this we went to Glaskogen and it was the same story there; they were erecting marquee tents and loading canoes up by Stora Gla. I definitely wouldn't like to visit in summer. 👍
I bet you, it was the Cucumber that gave you a hard time. There's a saying: Cucumber, always leave home without it!
Well I made that up....which I guess wasn't that hard to guess.😉
Glad you kept the humor, and will now write a book about swedish outhouse poetry😁
Really enjoyed the video, so peaceful.
Looking forward to the next installment.
Cheers from 🇨🇭🍻
Oh, btw did you catch any fish at all?
Hi mate, Tris thinks it was the cucumber as well!! 😂I'm just glad Norbett and Tom didn't write anything in the crapper on their 2018 Brokeback Mountain tour, that would've sent me over the edge 😂.
No fish at all, we didn't even get a bite. The fishing permit only cost 20 Euros for both of us for the week so not too bad. They must know you'll have no luck 🎣.
Cheers 🍺👍
@@Adventure-Outdoors Norbett and Tom are probably responsible for your lack of luck, in the fishing department. The fish are still sufffering from PTSD after all these years.
" We have seen things......"
And Cucumbers will be off the List of provisions on our upcoming trip to the Nordkapp.😁
Hhave a nice weekend! Cheers 🍻
Looks fabulous and thanks for sharing. I was rafting on the Klarälven in Sweden last August and the mozzies were pretty bad. Made it tough being outside the tents in morning and evenings. Floating on the raft during the day was ok though. Did you have much trouble with mozzies when you went? Was it early May?
Rafting sounds fun! Yes this was early May, I won't go to Scandinavia in the summer, I can't stand the mosquitos, I'd much rather deal with the cold than the insects. Thanks for watching 👍
@@Adventure-Outdoors yes timber rafting is fun but hard work. I'm not a youngster any more and building the raft on day 1 was hard going. But drifting down the river was incredible and so memorable.
So much reminds me of our Boundary Waters and Canada's Quetico park.
Beautiful country, great trip. Good thing you weren't laid up there for a couple of days!
Cheers! Yeah getting ill was a pain but at least it was only for 24 hrs 👍
Great travelogue; really enjoyed it. Random question: what make is the hat you're wearing on the trip?
That looks an ace trip!
Shame about the graffiti but the rest looked perfect 👌🏼
Bet you’re heartbroken to be back home now
It was great, but yeah, it's over all too soon and then it's back to the daily grind! Cheers guys and thanks for watching 👍
Laphroaig good choice....
I like to use Ardbeg Uigeadail or BUNNAHABHAIN - Eirigh Na Greine for Canoe Tours.
Cheers
Very nice film, we were at the summer an the Sommen last year.
