LorriMarie, not only are you an artist, but you are a guru in the world of altered books (at least in my world). I love, love, love these girls, but alas, so much art to do, so little time. I have been working on my first book, trying out the techniques in the early videos from your first series. I just finished a pop-up page that I am so in love with, and am near finishing a four page spread with the double tags that makes me giddy. These dolls are very creative. It takes an artist to be able to see this sort of thing in thier head Like you I was hesitant to call myself an artist. Its just been lately that I realized my potential as one. I like the one with the feather the best. Love how you made the texture with the gesso and thr cereal box cardboard. It's awesome !! I completed my altered book. I'm not an exceptional artist, but this piece is my personal best. Now that it's done, I'm a bit lost. Thinking I should maybe end my artist life on a high note. Thank you for bringing out the best in me, I am forever grateful.

My son once said that the difference between an artist and a crafter was process vs product. A crafter is interested in putting out multiple of the exact same product an artist might do multiple of a project that are similar but they will always be different because they will look at it and see something new each time. Of course you are an artist! Quit an unique one at that! Thank you for your point of view to art and how you see the world.

My mother, a ceramic teacher/watercolorist, told me the difference between an artist and a crafter is a matter of getting paid for their work professionally. An artist makes a living and a crafter does it for fun. I think both though are creative and that's the term I use - a creative, which encompasses both. Creative definition = relating to or involving the imagination or original ideas. An inventor also comes under that definition or a composer, etc.

I really loved the paper doll project, thank you so much for sharing your artistic process. I wanted to comment on your insights into whether or not one feels like an artist. It felt like you were speaking directly to me. While I started my life (well, age 4) as an artist, at times it's been a bumpy road. It's now fifty years later and I just got through several very depressing years of feeling I was not an artist. You saved me from myself, as it was stumbling onto your UA-cam classes that got me to want to let art back into my life. I completed my altered book. I'm not an exceptional artist, but this piece is my personal best. Now that it's done, I'm a bit lost. Thinking I should maybe end my artist life on a high note. Thank you for bringing out the best in me, I am forever grateful.

My son once said that the difference between an artist and a crafter was process vs product. A crafter is interested in putting out multiple of the exact same product an artist might do multiple of a project that are similar but they will always be different because they will look at it and see something new each time. Of course you are an artist! Quit an unique one at that! Thank you for your point of view to art and how you see the world.

My mother, a ceramic teacher/watercolorist, told me the difference between an artist and a crafter is a matter of getting paid for their work professionally. An artist makes a living and a crafter does it for fun. I think both though are creative and that's the term I use - a creative, which encompasses both. Creative definition = relating to or involving the imagination or original ideas. An inventor also comes under that definition or a composer, etc.

I really loved the paper doll project, thank you so much for sharing your artistic process. I wanted to comment on your insights into whether or not one feels like an artist. It felt like you were speaking directly to me. While I started my life (well, age 4) as an artist, at times it's been a bumpy road. It's now fifty years later and I just got through several very depressing years of feeling I was not an artist. You saved me from myself, as it was stumbling onto your UA-cam classes that got me to want to let art back into my life.
