I bought a kit on Amazon with 4 lights, soft box, umbrellas, stands and green screen for less than $200. But yes, a piece of green cloth and a window works fine too. Don’t wait to create. Get in with what you have. Content is king. Thanks for your inspiring videos.
this was honestly such a helpful video. I am a total green screen beginner but love film and editing so this was absolutely perfect. I tried your tips today and it worked super well. Thank you for this!!
You have given me my solution to my green-screen problem... how to hang it tightly in front of my messy bookshelf. Those trouser hangers are just what I will use. Thank you
Great video. Just wondering what the name of the fabric you’re using is and how you would attach it to a wall or if you’d need stands in a living room situation.
bro you a life saver. I was just about to buy all these soft boxes etc and go to town. This looks so much better and easier and a money saver. Thank you :) haha
after watching a hundred videos on UA-cam where everyone said it was impossible to have a good keying without at least three lights i came across your video and it encouraged me to open my green screen and see it for myself. I hung it in the kitchen in front of a big window and even though my iso was 500 It turned out great for my work! I just wanted me separate on a background even with green showdows on me. It is a video for kids with lots of animated things on the screen that distracts them anyway. Thanks a hundred times for this awsome video. It saved me a lot of money.
Fantastic video Stewart! thanks very much for sharing and loving the positive vibes. I love Scotland, I have been there a few times now and we were very lucky with the weather :) we do have a soft spot for Sconser. Looking forward to visit there again.
Very informative video about green screen. I've already tried it with a green bed cover. I stretched these on the top and bottom of a door by closing the door. 3 meters from the door is a large window for the light. I have to do it in the morning because the light is on the north side. But it works, and that's the most important thing
Yup pretty good for a consumer level video maker. Big problem comes when you actually want to light your presenter to better match the composite image - you simply can't do that with one big soft light.
This was helpful in a sense that I can get a sheet or something green for the studio/playroom I have. However now I need to know what kind of software, program or whatever to use to edit video. Can I record using phone etc. but at least for now I know about good green screen.
Question: (from a total newbie). I can see the green screen you have isn’t very wide, but the lovely beach background you’ve placed in at the 5min mark looks much wider. I’m sorry I don’t know quite how to phrase this correctly,..... but when you shot that film didn’t you have to have total green within the camera’s frame? How did you manage that, or doesn’t it matter if you have the edges of the room in the frame? Perhaps I need to watch more videos? Perhaps you could recommend some :-). Thanks
No worries! Provided the green screen covers you, the subject, for the rest of the frame that is not 'covered' in green fabric, you simply crop the sides of your clip in your editing software. When you drag in the sides of the frame you will reveal the background you have set underneath and this will match the green screen section of the frame.
Hi I see that you used a beach house background from our local beach. I’m using green screen videos to save those beach houses. Thanks for your video. You’re helping to save them.
Wow. Saved me from throwing money away! Caught your video just in time. Subscribed and shared. I like that you mention software too. I happen to have Final Cut Pro X already, and I use SONY ar2. So looks like I'm good to go. THANKS!
I'm a newbie when it comes to chromakeying, but I have this idea. I've not had a lot of luck with green screen, but I have blue screen on the other side. I'm going to try the blue side. I think I might have better success because blue may not cast as much shadow. I'll see. Thanks for the video.
You can use any solid colour for your back screen however you still need to light it properly! The reason green colour is used is that there are very little green colour in human beings! It also makes your wardrobe easier but if you use a green screen and dress with some green clothes you are going to have problems, the same goes for other clours!
Drone Film Guide you’re welcome. Yep, I’m still here. I kinda dropped some of the drone stuff from my channel. I let my commercial license expire when I found out I had kidney cancer in January. There were more important things than drones :) I’ve just not picked it back up. I like seeing everyone’s UA-cam studio setup!!
Thank you. I am a teacher thrust into online. I need cheap solutions. I found a wardrobe hanger and the Muslim green screen is coming. Thanks for the hints on the window light. Last semester I had issues with the night class but the day class was fine. I'll look for diffused lights.
awesome. my question is, i see that u don't move your arms much, always in front of you body. is your setup really working? i wonder how would be the blending if I have to work with my arm open
Great vid, really informative......Not looking at youtubing just interested in green screen and how it works.. My interest peaked when you showed how easy it is in "post" to key out...Wow....(LIGHTBULB!) moment for me....thanks'
great video this is so simple and it works a treat just about to give up what with all the lights and positioning tried this and in ten minutes was up and running, Thanks
Hi there just wondering where did you get that green screen from ? it look's very pro, this is one of the problems misleading garbage out there, claiming this and that but its a bed sheet, thank you.
Hi Stu now that it is summer and lock down ive decided to have a go at this, if I am looking for material do I just type in green screen material or is there a certain colour green, Lime green or what ever ? Many thanks Ray K UK. YNWA.
I love your production which looks so professional from a set so simple and even less than basic! I have a 9’ x 15’ green screen and have struggled with uneven lighting. My setup is in my office and I’m planning on turning it around to face the double French doors entry with 1’ wide glass panels on each side bringing the total of glass to 10’ wide by almost 7’ high. I’m in Los Angeles where sunlight is plenty. Question is, will I have enough light if the green screen is about 25’ away from these doors and behind two desks? If not, I have a ring light to compliment the sunlight, would that be ok? Please advise. Thank you!
I watched a video that suggested a backlight facing a white wall that then reflects onto the Green Screen. Direct light (from artificial light) might cause “splotches. Keep searching, keep trying stuff !
If I don't have a large window where I'm filming, then what do I use for lighting? Why are the professionals recommending using generally (2) Softbox lights on both sides of the green screen and a separate light for the subject if you don't need all of that? Thank you.
amazing. i would have thought the light gray shadows off to the side would be a problem, but as you explained, they are not harsh shadows therefore they dont cause a problem. thx!
Where we get our music: bit.ly/dfg-epidemic-sound
Is this free? =)
Okay
nahitaji green screen full naishi tanzania nawezaje kuipata
Where can I get that green fabric to buy?
I bought two .97 cent cheapo, plastic lime green party table cloths from Walmart. Works great and it was only 2 bucks!
Oh dang I didn’t even think of that
Do you have any footage to show?
I have a 132 dollar one 😂
What do use as a stand or to hang the cloths?
You beat me by 3¢ 🤣

This green screen idea, is sooo very much appreciated. You are helping me recognise i dont need to be great to start, i just need to get started.
yeah.. now I know that we can start with less..
"[I] dont [sic] need to be great to start, [I] just need to get started." That's the best advice on the Internet. Thank you, Simone.
Stewart you are a excellent teacher and your cheapest setup blows away many big budget set ups!
Great video man! I'm trying to learn more about green screen on a budget and your video really helped a lot, thanks. Hope someday to visit Scotland!

That is fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm speechles! Miles of green fabric, endless softboxes - that's all about my experience!
Before = ??????
After I watch this = 😲💡👍
Big big thanks to you.
Best, practical green screen video I've seen yet. Cheers!
If u use the same room for green screen again and again it is better to paint or use a ceiling mounted curtain
Awesome! Shooting a green screen in 2 days & this really helps! And, ironically, our film is about an historical moment in Scotland.
If you don't want to pay for fabric I found a green plastic outdoor tablecloth for parties works great!
I do too. I steam them a bit to remove the wrinkles.
@@Marys-Channel oh I didn't know that trick, thanks

I see few other people have asked this but can you give us more details on the fabric you use? I'm assuming it needs to be that bright lime green?

This is great!! What size is your green screen? Realizing I don't need a huge one is such a sigh of relief.
Thank you For This. Where do I get the THANK YOU$ button you have below this video? Or is it only for UA-cam Employees?

WHat lens and camera are you using? I can't seen to get a wide enough frame with the crop sensor. Any suggestions?
Love it! Awesome video.
This was extremely helpful thank you. I hope to be using green screen soon on my channel
Very well done video and super helpful!! Thanks for sharing!!
If Final Cut Pro difficult to learn? Is there an app for it? Can I use any background image I want or do I have to use ones that come with it?
What are the reliable app for editing green screen videos?
I really like Movavi. It doesn't require as much RAM as some others. It's fun once you figure it out. There are lots of helpful tutorials.
thanks for the great video! I hope you will do more on green screens, lighting, etc. cool stuff!
Can you use a light stand to illuminate behind the screen… I don’t have windows that can cast light evenly… too many trees
I like the green screen on a budget. Great video.
Thanks Ron!
This is so awesome and makes it look so easy! Thank you!!!
Good tip! May try it this weekend. Have a great weekend guys!
Amazing.Glad I found your channel!! Looking forward to new interesting videos!
great tips!👌 and humor😉😂
You could've just said, use a big window as a softlight source and be done with the video in a minute or so but 8:44 is good too.
what software do use bro

@@DroneFilmGuide Thanks for that tip! That drove me nuts. I didn't have room to add anymore green. So glad I take time to read comments.
What type of camera are you using?
Panasonic GH5.
This was the best video on the subject of how to do green screens.
Painting the room in mat green seems the best way
Yes so i can just show myself in space ahahahah i can fool my whole WHOLE zoom class
I've done that xd, but not that bright green! (Its still works tho😳)
Buying this today... Thank you so much

I've been using green poster board I get at the dollar store. Not perfect, but have gotten good results really cheap 😁👍
Yeah they work thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!
Same 😁
What fabric type do you recommend buying
that's what I want to know
Yes, fabric recommendations, please. Is Spandex necessary, or just any fine-weave cloth?
Pls, can you provide link for the app (for iPhone and Mac)?
