I purchased and used the LUT pack on my GoPro video taken in Playa Del Carmen earlier in the week. I do my editing in Adobe Premier Elements 2020, and it took me a bit to figure out how to install and use them, but once I got through that process, applying them to my videos was straight forward. The improvement it made to my videos surprised me. I will make good use of them from now on. They are a great value for what you get in return.
I purchased this pack a couple of weeks ago and it has been very helpful. I'll admit my original footage was far from the best (no red filter on the GoPro Hero 8), but the LUTs still helped a lot. I even tested them on some footage from non-GoPro cameras and they still helped some. I've focused almost exclusively on photos over the last 16 years of diving and only just recently have started trying filming a little more. Part of this has been due to the difficulty of color grading video. With photos, I can easily shoot in raw and white balance after the fact if my strobes aren't enough. I however do not have video lights and none of my cameras can shoot in raw video. I still need to experiment with manual white balance on my Canon, but it looks like a real pain to do on that camera during a dive, but either way I am very glad I have this LUT pack to help me finally have a starting point for color grading.
Awesome video, Matthias just asked me if I wanted to affiliate with him as well so I’m super excited to see this and see his work being pushed by others!
Great video, and timely information. I just recently picked up the GoPro 11 Black, and I am have been researching everywhere on GoPro videography tips. And as always, James, thank you. 😊
James, you are an inspiration! Sadly, I have not been able to even clean up my gopro videos with my old laptop.... It can't display the 4k I shot in Key Largo in November. Mine are SOOOO shaky... Fortunately I have uploaded the videos to UA-cam and can watch them on my old 1080p TV screen. Nonetheless, I certainly enjoy the information that you put out with the amazing video as well.
I enjoyed the tips for video editing. I prefer still shots for sharing with family and friends in a printed book. Is it easy to take stills off of the go pro camera?
No they don't b t there are amazing apps for the iPad and Android. Lumafusion works on both but costs a little something. Davinci Resolve works on newer iPads and is free. It's a professional, full-featured colorgrading and editing app.
Thanks for the info James. I purchased the LUT package and they work great. So much faster than manually changing all the exposure/color/etc settings on each clip in Final Cut Pro (fcpx). I found this video useful to learn how to apply the LUTs in fcpx: ua-cam.com/video/Ad5Zko23_0s/v-deo.html
👍😎🤿Thanks James I don’t know if it will help me I am terrible at photography and I guess I don’t have the gift! But I do appreciate viewing from those who do!
Thanks for the video!
I think you've made me decide to get Matthias Lebo's online course and LUT pack 👍

I’m heading down to the keys this weekend. Think I’m gonna have to purchase this for the footage I get! Thanks for the tip James!

Great information James. I’ll need to take a look at those.
Can you make a video about the different gasses and what they can and can't be used for

The folks over at TGDP gave you a shout out on their podcast
How about a LUT pack for us lake divers with green waters?
I came to ask about green/cold water ones
Matthias does offer a green water LUT pack as well.
Love your videos. But could you make a review of the suunto D5? Would love to hear your opinion about it.
James, you've got to put that hat in the store!

Love it! Color correction is not my forté 😂
What settings did you use for the GoPro?
Hi James awesome video as always! i was wondering if the LUT works for underwater images as well?
Thank you!
Do LUTS work with Go pro quick app?
I’m limited to editing on my tablet, ideas?
