Pay the seller of the boat a commission? That does not sound right, seems seller should pay the broker commission. From what I’ve read buyer pays for haul out survey, and engine survey. Sales tax if any and that’s it. Personally I wouldn’t buy a boat and pay a commission to the seller, makes absolutely no sense, having a hard time getting my head wrapped around that
I think he was talking about a deposit, not commission. Commission makes no sense.
It’s the buyer paying the 5% to a broker, doesn’t happen often but sometimes it can make sense. 👍🏻🙏😉
The buyer should NOT pay anything for commission...period. it should all come from the seller!!

Thanks for this series, Paul. For me, there was something here that wasn't clear: Documented. You talked about a boat being either State Registered or Documented. Huh?

You have to have state registration either way. However you can also coast guard document a boat. By doing so you won't have to display the state registration number, only the state expiration sticker. I can't answer all the reasons to CC Docu a boat however I liked doing it so I didn't have to have the state numbers on both sides of the hull.

Boat can be both, some states require state registration some don’t. My personal boat is only documented with the coast guard. 👍🏻🙏😉
