In my humble opinion as a listener, in this composition going upto Panchama only, feels good rather than trying for Nishada or higher notes.
Doubting Yesudas's range is another thing. If you have time, listen completely(highly recommended. You can see the depth of the ocean and the altitude of the infinite sky). In this context try to hear at least after 13.10 at least of this recording🙏

I was really happy to read this comment. I know only kannada and sanskrit. Every time he said sayana, it would squeeze my heart in pain. I know he isn't wrong, because bmk gave a lot of attention to sahitya. But I'm used to that.
The word has root in the Sanskrit word "Shayana" , which means lying down.
Since Sri. Thiagaraja wrote it, it may be meant to be pronounced as "Sheyana", however "Shayana" isn't wrong either 😊
