My brother got killed about few weeks before Stevie Ray Vaughn died. For some odd reason at just 19 I was already a huge fan, but I still have a hard time watching him play. I just remember standing there in with my mouth open for a long time. It truly is healing music. RIP to both my brothers.
That luxury hear these three guitars for Stevie and Jimmie Vaughan two of the greatest representatives of the Texas Blues Rock side, the other side of the Lobos Cesar Rosas ... and to top the master Carlos Santana. And the incomparable Keyboards Chester Thompson. There is rarely the opportunity to see such giants of music together, thanks to the magic of video we can enjoy these events.
Love 💘Santana & stive Ray Vaughan exciting concert i was there in October they played together& Pacific amphitheater,Costa mesa, can great 👍combination...loved it
Stevie and Carlos that's Timeless man you never going to find that & Again they both got a guitar sound nobody can touch Carlos's Azteca nobody can touch Carlos man or Stevie psychedelic baby to the Bone

Thank you so much for posting this. Have been lucky enough to see Stevie, Jimmy Carlos and am going to see Cesar Rosas tomorrow. On the same stage!?!?!? What? Realize the recording is rough but I really don't care. It is a treasure. Thanks again.

Beautiful Spiritual and Poetic Comment above translated from Russian to English "Music is the oldest of all the fine arts. It is closest to human nature. Musical ability is an amazing gift that distinguishes man from animals. Santana's work combines different genres, different styles, his music caresses our ears and remains in our memory for a long time. Live music has no borders, it is listened to in different countries. Interestingly, in the Bible, the first mention of music is found in the description of the first descendants of Adam: from Jubal "there descended all those who can play the harp and flute." Perhaps the children and grandchildren of this man were the first musicians on the planet. The Creator has invested amazing abilities in a person to create music and be able to listen to it. Without her, our life would not be so beautiful. It calms and delights, uplifts the mood and spirit, delights and touches to tears. "All good and perfect gifts are from above, they are given by the Father of heavenly bodies" (Bible, James 1:17). I wish creative success to Carlos Santana!"
Some of my favorite guitar players ever and this is the first I'm hearing of it! It sounds like they are playing over a Hugh Masekela song called Stimela (Coal Train). any confirmation of this would be appreciated, given the context of the Hugh song and the title of this track would make sense.
Yes, just saw it mentioned by another guy commenting here too. I love this performance but had no idea of the Masekela connection. The second track here - Deeper, Dig Deeper - was often used by Santana around this time as a closing encore and just like here he would namecheck the members of the band during it. There's a parallel version of it on the superb dvd of the Santana/Shorter band, recorded live at Montreux five months after this gig but with a more jazzy backing band (Alphonso Johnson and Armando Peraza are common to both shows though) - DDD is the next-to-last track and the structure is basically the same as here, but with a live drummer, Ndugu Chancler, instead of the sequencer beat.
The thumbs down comes from ass holes, who do not get it, or there punk rockers, who do not know how to get it. It's called GREATNESS!! 50s 60s 70s 80s produce by far the greatest music ever in AMERICA!!!!!!!! Carlos would be interesting playing a kazoo. When was this recorded ? And what is that bizarre thing Stevie was playing, something he had built or were those manufactured back then ?
I was at this show. The Pacific Amphitheatre. The Thunderbirds, SRV & Santana. It was a distant memory but now its back. Thanks for posting.... On a side note: Santana played here again like a day after SRV was killed. He opened the show with "Spirits Dancing in the Flesh" then acknowledged the crowd and told us that the last time he played here was with SRV and that the evening was dedicated to him. He opened up the heavens that night!! I have seen Carlos a lot but that night he was on a another level, in touch with something special and he shared it with us....I will never forget that show.
+Jonathan Stewart Phew.. I saw that tour with Beck here in NY at MSG. Holy crap was that whole show intense. Actually I think that was sadly the last time I saw SRV. It was amazing seeing him go from small/mid size places to selling out MSG. He was so on fire that night. I'll never forget him saying.." So this is MSG. I like it" He was in total joy! To this day that encore with Beck.. The two of them wailing on the tune Going Down.. Is still the best guitar duel I've ever seen! I was at the Arms show at MSG when I was 17.. With Beck, Clapton and Page.. And while that will always stand out as one of my fave concerts.. With incredible gtr duels.. I'd still have to say SRV and Beck is the best duel I've ever seen.
Awesome to see Stevie Ray with Jimmie Vaughan, and Carlos Santana playing together. Beautiful vibes! Also shows that Cesar Rosas is a guitar god as well! Listen to Los Lobos to see more of his virtuousity....
SRV, Santana two of the greatest guitar master virtuosos in history together on stage. Earth cried, but heaven smiled when Sir Vaughn was called to the creators presence.
Great performance by these two heroes (really four great guitar players together here), very soulful and blissful! The variation of tone between the four of them in "Coal Train" is great to hear...I have the dvd of Carlos' band with Wayne Shorter and Patrice Rushen playing at Montreux five months later, more of a jazz-fusion project but with just as great interplay, a wonderful gig, and that one has "Deeper Dig Deeper" as the next-to-last track, with a simillar arrangement as here, Carlos introducing and spotlighting each musician of the band.
I remember santana saying that riviera paradise by SRV is the most beautiful piece of music he has ever heard. I will have to agree. Anything stevie did was beautiful though.

It's cool to see Stevie playing with Jimmy and Carlos and his band all at once on the stage ,it's an Iconic event really glad I ran into this video by accident .
Double neck hamiltone guitar I believe. Bottom neck was supposed to be a bass but he asked for it to be custom made as a 6 string bass. Can’t imagine how hard bends like his must be on a 6 string bass.
This jam just pulls your heart out. If you can not feel it then I can not explain it to you...Just Beautiful...Stevie, what a Soul...Congratulations for finally being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame. Far to long, Stevie, far to long..Love Always
The name of this song is Stlmela. Written by Hugh Masakela. Simply awesome

On the first track, I liked Jimmy Vaughan's playful (jazzy?) phrasing. He was the most creative and original of the 4 guitarists.
While he starts of a bit fumbly..
