I still refer to this set when "kids" talk about DJ'ing ... this is masterclass skills still in 2019 and do you see a laptop anywhere, NO YOU DONT!! This is putting little stickers on where to place that needle. Dedication, practice, beat matching .... JUST GOD DAMN SKILLS! To all those who are discovering this for the first time, enjoy!

No shit I genuinely went to colledge back in 2003 for a subject called dj techniques and music production, Spent a year learning how to mix and scratch, legit one of my final tests was to produce a scratch mictape for my lecturer.. Used to study watching this shit all the time.. My fav was kentaros shuriken cut.. That blew my mind all the time..

The problem with most technically gifted DJs is they focus too much on showing off their technical ability (almost as if they're trying too hard to prove a point?) and neglect the artistic side. Kentaro maintains a vibe throughout the whole set... And he makes the technical stuff look like childs play. That's a true professional.

He toured the uk that year he won this dmc. I worked in Manchester at the time for a club called Sankeys soap. I have a polariod of me and him at an after party somewhere. They were great days. Great music, social interactions, no social media or phones interupting real human connection.

DJ Kentaro is one of the best Djs in the world......In my eyes he is a legend & this is one of the best scratch routines i have heard. Djs should learn from this guys.

The thing I like about Kentaro compared to other turntablists/battle DJs is that he doesn't just have crazy skills, it also sounds great and you can still dance to it. He has a great ear for good music.

O.F.F.E.N.C.E. ! man he's crazy i saw him live before , and he tears down the whole stadium with his turntablism skills. it's a totally different out of world experience when you hear him fucking his shit up LIVE...
And with this, he became world champ in '02. Perhaps the most CREATIVE set I have seen of all of them: P-Trix, Craze, A-Trak, etc. He does not scratch much, though.

Man that was fuckin siiiick!!! he used So many musical styles! his juggles were on point, had good skratching, great techniques, great transitions, very musical and original... the MC said it best "WHAT THEEEEE FUUUUUUCKKK???!!!" LOL!
If you ever get the chance to see him perform Live , he will put your mouth in " O " , i just came back from his live gig tonite, he defintely knows how to "fuck it up" on the sets....

Originality, patterns, funk, swagger. One of the best dmc sets the last seven years or so. Kentaro is too ill for his own good! Japanese djs are so fundamentaly sound and got the shit to a science. Shit is no joke. They know how to flip shit.
