Gabe and Nick react to The Beatles shirt Intro song Sgt Peppers to the same name album. This is a great shirt song. But will Gabe like it or think it’s another “jingle”?

This tune is supposed to go hand in hand with With a Little Help from My Friends. I can't believe you didn't include that song in this reaction. And yes, of course, Billy Shears is Ringo and they are introducing him because he sings the very next song.
I think their problem is that, since it's a reaction video, they can't watch it first, so don't really know what the video has...
@DS-uy6jw That is true for Gabe, but from what I've witnessed thus far, Nick is familiar with most-if not all-of the Beatles songs they've listened to. Although, I am still surprised that Nick knows next to nothing of Billy Shears.
@@tdgallagher218 I don't think Nick knows as much as he THINKS he does, because he is CLUELESS here about "Sgt. Pepper" going directly into "With a Little Help From My Friends" PLUS he THOUGHT that "Sgt. Pepper" was a LIVE performance that they did with an audience! IF he was familiar he would KNOW that it's NOT. I doubt he has heard the entire album at all.
@patticrichton1135 I guess I wasn't giving my full attention to Nick and missed a few observations. Maybe I'll go back and view it again. I made my comments based on the fact that he was singing along at one point. That, plus he clearly knows more than Gabe every time they react to a Beatles tune. Evidently, I gave Nick too much credit.
No ,that's what they say. He was Paul's replacement
It's Paul on lead vocals. The song leads into With a Little Help From My Friends which has Ringo (as Billy Shears) on lead vocals.
I am sure someone would have said this but it is not actually live. It is supposed to emulate a live show.
It is a concept album, so this song goes into the next song where they introduce the aforementioned Billy Sheers.
As a senior in HS (fall/winter 1967), my friend and I left the school everyday for over a month to listen to this album on his parent's stereo. Another new sound from The Beatles.
No, not a live recording, just made to sound live, for the purposes of introducing Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. Paul on lead vocal. Leading to 8ntroducing Billy Shears... The bands singer (Ringo) 😊
That wasn't John belting it out. It was Paul McCartney. If you'd continued into the next song, you would know Paul was introducing another song that was performed by Ringo.
These are getting really frustrating. What is the point of letting Gabe shit all over the best band of all time without educating him on what they are all about? Strange
I am Beatles fan bro! This album was recorded from November 24, 1966 with Strawberry Fields Forever until April 21, 1967. The album was released in UK on May 26, 1967 and in June 2, same year in the US.
The CD first reissue was released on June 2, 1987, the second CD which is the remastered version on September 9, 2009 and finally the Sgt. Pepper's 50th Anniversary Edition was also released on May 26, 2017! It was recorded in both mono and stereo! 700 minutes were spent in the recording sessions, guys comparing with Please Please Me (585 minutes!)
PPM was barely 585 minutes, not hours. But it did represent many years and thousands of hours of live performance
Paul rocks it on this number. Billy Shears is a made up name.
I think it was only days after it was released The Beatles were present at a Jimi Hendrix concert where Jimi had learned and played the song.
Not heard of this song? Are you KIDDING?
This album was a game changer for the nation, for the world, in 1967. It was so much a game changer it was referenced in ANOTHER pop song that got a LOT of airplay in 1968, "Summer Rain" by Johnny Rivers. It's a love song set in memory, very wistful, with a chorus that ran
"All summer long we were dancing in the sand
Everybody just kept on playing "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band".
Of course, the chorus is referencing the entire album, not just the title song.
The song IS an intro, and it naturally moves into a second song, sung by Ringo Star ("A Little Help from My Friends").
You should have let it play through the next song.
On the album, this song is followed seamlessly by "With A Little Help From My Friends". That's why the end is so abrupt here.
It’s not a live recording. It’s a concept album where the Sgt Peppers Band is putting on a live concert and it cuts out bc it goes right into Billy Shears singing With A Little Help From My Friends. Who is Billy? Listen.
hey Gabe.... maybe those pirate costumes are for when they rode in the yellow submarine! 😂😂 cuz we know how much you love that song!!!
Answer honestly Gabe, do you know the meaning of the word whimsy? I think not.
Although having Nick introduce you to The Beatles is not ideal.
You can say that again, Nick is definitely NOT an expert on the Beatles OR their recordings.
@@patticrichton1135Blind leading the ….
you really need to play the first two songs together as Sgt Pepper leads into 'With a Little Help From My Friends' with Ringo singing (aka billy S)
Watched that movie for my second time last night
You should have let it run as it is SUPPOSED to run seamlessly into "With a Little Help From My Friends" You need to play EACH song to him from the SGT. PEPPER ALBUM, it's NOT SHORT, you then hear them sing "BILLLLYYYY SHEAARS" and it goes RIGHT into "WIth a Little Help..." sung by RIngo. NICK, yor are obviously NOT familiar with this album EITHER, otherwise you would have KNOWN THAT. This is NOT a LIVE recording. It was NOT made when they were ON TOUR. They stopped touring after their 1966 tour. Sgt. Pepper came in 1967. This was done IN the studio and the crowd sounds were added in to MAKE it sound like it is a live performance. PIRATES did NOT dress like that, they were very "rag tag" and raggedy and DIRTY! Geez!!! GABE keeps referring to military outfits on the battlefield. THESE are supposed to be Victorian era MILITARY MARCHING BAND uniforms (which would NOT have been worn in ANY battle during any war.
"Two minutes? It was two minutes five minutes ago."
Back in the day when everyone relied on radios stations. They had 2 1/2 minutes slots
That's PAUL belting out lyrics.
Thank you.
Listen to the abum closer, Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise), sounded so modern forthat era
G'day Guys! I believe that Billy Shears is the fictional alter ego of Ringo Starr but my 73 year old memory may be not so good these days... LOL!
They started this with the concept that all the tracks would run into one another - like a live band. They said screw it after "With a Little Help". Made up for it though on Abbey Rd.
When you think its sitar that is just the early 60s guitar sound, I'm not sure if you heard a beatles sitar song yet because that would be off the sgt pepper era..and the costumes look like pirate costumes because those military outfits were from the same time like pirates (of course not in that colour).
I am sorry but they look NOTHING like pirates clothing. Pirates didn't wear satin colorful clothing, they wore ragged clothing, were never "uniforms" and they were pretty unclean, dirty men, wearing the same thing for God only knows how long. Watch ANY movie about pirates from any period and you will NEVER see a single one dressed like the Beatles are on the cover.
It was short because it is supposed to segueseamlessly into the second track, which is With a Little Help From My Friends by Ringo. So not choosing the right video kinda ruined the whole listening experience.
The end of the album is the reprise of this song, but a faster beat and different lyrics. Then the encore A day aim the life! One of their best songs.
Also if he loves hard rock try helter skelter or don’t let me down or I’ve got a feeling
They’ve already done Helter Skelter. I keep suggesting that they listen to Revolution (the single) cos Gabe seems to like the heavier stuff but I’ve given up
I remember hearing this album when it first came out. We were about 13 or 14 and the record belonged to a friend's older brother. We were made to sit through an LPs worth of sitah music before the main event. Afterwards I wondered why I had bothered.
This song has to be followed with a little help from my friends, to be properly appreciated. You are correct the Beatles were very diverse. The Beatles could play just about any type of music, and play it well.
Remember, this was the first ever concept album. This is just the intro to the other songs. The outro played backwards says it was a fake moustache. A reference to Paul's mastouches and the free mastouches given away with the album. It's called back masking, clever those Beatles.
No. the Kinks and The Who had made some earlier attempts and Paul's original concept fell apart into a not quite random collection of songs. Still great
@@cuebj village green was after peppers and Tommy was even later
It's known as the British sense of humour.
Have a listen to the Beatles ‘Helter Skelter’. Great rock track.
They did it already.
If he likes guitar breaks etc, then perhaps try him with “The End” from Abbey Road.
Put The Kettle On, Turkish!
