As maxed player I think everyone should set elite diary requirements as their goal, then just let the skills come in on their own weight. I didn't do that but i should've, grinds like mining and agility are pretty horrible if you want to finish them asap by doing the most efficient methods.
@@rsKnat Yeah. With new content being added into the game, they become nice minigoals in between Diary cape - Max cape. Like greenlogging Colossal wyrm agility course. Got me a nice amount of agility xp, and was nice fresh afk take on the skill. On the other hand, I've been afking rune rocks for two mining levels now. They pay is good. The xp is shit, but so is the mining cape perks.
For me, the "do whatever I want" feeling came when I panicked over bond prices going up due to leagues, selling my burning claw drop from TDS and dragon-hunter crossbow that I used every second week to farm vorkath for bond money... and buying 71 or so mil worth of bonds. I got over 2 months of membership now rather than 14 days. This allowed me to finally train runecrafting, woodcutting, thieving, fishing and run entry ToA without feeling pressured to only do vorkath/muspah/CG/TDs for cash since I only got 14 days of membership and must make 14 mils AND extra to afford upgrades. Current goal is to lazily do 1-3 CG runs/day, afk train slayer, do skilling before bed and slowly push my ToA clears without worrying about losing money on supplies by doing harder invocations. I dont need to afk train combat stats as I don't need pvm efficiency, bossing will give me the levels slowly.
@TheHeedbo haha nope! For me it was my biggest goal and although I took a break after, I still came back and then completed the Inferno, Colosseum etc... Cheers!
5:50 “You just end up feeling hollow; and even worse, you’ll want to start an Ironman” 😂😂 Nice discussion, subbed. Edit: Also, I’m glad that I pretty much only play the game for PvP. I know I’m in the minority and I’ll probably never even get to 2k total let alone max, but I’m having fun every time I log in and this is supposed to be a game after all.
When i maxed earlier this year it felt bittersweet because i made a lot of mistakes. First mistake was selling gear to fund my buyables. When i maxed my bank went from around 1.8b down to around 400m. Second mistake was thinking maxing was going to magically make my bank go up in value, You don't get much for maxing. Your maxing for the QOL, It's nice that i can click my max cape to teleport to my home and shift click to teleport to the crafting guild but other than that its not much. And my final mistake was making max my end goal. Once you max it feels great in the moment but once it dawns on you that you have nothing else to train and all you can do is make money and do the same bosses over and over and over until you can afford that upgrade, The game starts to get stale and you start to burn out when you go on dry streaks. But of course, After my post max burnout i set 1 new goal: Get good. I couldn't do a 350 toa without megarares, I have like 300+ deaths on the dt2 bosses and i would rage quit off after a few deaths. So thats my goal. Now i can do all dt2 bosses pretty consistently and even snagged a soulreaper axe, I got a quiver about 2 months ago and now i'm just chipping away at that master combat achievement diary. I still have a long way to go but it feels nice to master a piece of content. In the future i may even push for a mentorship for raids to teach other people. Everyone is different, You don't need to rush to max, I did 3t teaks/fishing/mining but if you want to sit at a star while chilling, go for it. Do some herbiboar instead of herb tar chins, Do some ZMI instead of lavas.
I do agree that you need tangible goals in both Runescape and in real life to feel true happiness/satisfaction. The journey is the best part, not the goal itself. However I do disagree with Ironman not being a great option for many people, including myself. Also, there's nothing wrong with reaching your goals in OSRS and starting fresh. There's also nothing wrong with not setting any new goals at all and quitting entirely. We all stop playing eventually. If you reach that point at maxing, that's perfectly fine and you can just find some other game, hobby etc. to have a good time with.
Good Video, and opinion. I play in a similar way bouncing around training what I find fun at the time. With the long term goal of maxing eventually.
