Hobby CNC Machine Basics

- This is another quick video for my A-Level art project on water waves. This one describes the CNC machining on a small hobby CNC. The machine that I am using is a Carvey (www.inventables.com/technolog...) sent to me by Inventables about a year ago. We had an agreement that I would create some projects for them in exchange for the machine but they decided to cancel the agreement after sending me the machine so I basically ended up with a free hobby CNC which was great! The next video for my art project is going to be using my upgraded x-carve to make some large 3D wave relief patterns.
Even though it is not related to my channel I decided to upload it here anyway because I have not released a video in ages.
There are lots of new projects to come, I just need to find the time to edit them!

Keep the streak going
Great to see you back.
Really love the way you are applying your hobby in your school work! Good luck to you in your A-levels :)
Peter Woo it's how schooling in general should be. Too many kids think they're dumb because they don't naturally catch on to theoretical shit that easily.
If one judges a fish by its ability to climb a tree, then it's likely that it will think it's not a good fish,
wow, 2 videos in 2 days. THANKS MAN, GL HF WITH ALEVELS!!
I've been watching your videos for years now and you genuinely amaze me. That fact your only 17/18 years old is incredible. The stuff you was doing at 13/14 is beyond most adults skill set. I'm 37 and wish I had half your talent and skill set. What's your plan for the future? University apprenticeship?
heeeeey! You've made quantum leaps in production quality since your slingshot days. Looks and sounds great!
And the content was great as well. Kind of inspirational untill I realize days still only have 24 hours.
No matter what, great job! :D
Great to see another video! Lol im pretty jealous of your CNC😂
Welcome back!!!
Very interesting! nice video!
Love your vids man.
Happy to add another "thumbs up" comment. Keep up this good work matey!
incredible
great video
You back
I remember when art at school was all about using your own creative skills using pencils and paint brushes on paper ............... as opposed to downloading stuff off google and copying it with a computer !
My God, how things have change !
this requires a lot more effort than that.
Drafting is still taught. CAD is just an extension of that.
The last time you made 2 vids in the same Month was almost a year ago i hope you keep this up
This is very helpful for me in gcse d.t
Cool
Pssh. Using carbide endmills? Everybody knows that high speed steel is where it's at.
/s
Seriously, though, those are some nifty CNC mills you've got there. Hope to have one for myself one day for little hobby projects. About how much would you say you've put into upgrading your current setup? I've always wondered what piecemealing a mill together would cost me.
Wow! You have come a long way from making slingshots, knives and things... You'll be going to Uni' next, then who knows... Architect or structural engineer?
I've been wanting to get into the more hobby-grade CNC-machining as well as 3D printing, but i'm kind of intimidated by the software you need to use.
Any recommendations on software that's easy to use that you can find tutorials for?
If it's cad you're worried about; I think fusion 360 is free for hobbyists (definitely free for us students!) And I've found it easy to learn and quite intuitive for simpler things.
The absolute simplest is tinkerCAD, but it doesn't teach you what you need to know. I suggest design spark. They don't have too many tutorials but once you get the hang of it, it is very intuitive. I'm not sure how it will work with CNC though.
The key is to just force yourself to use the program for a couple of days and just get frustrated, but once you learn how your program works, you will save a lot of frustration in the long run.
You have to read the story on how they made the film poster for hitchcocks Vertigo, nothing at that time was good enough to.l draw the pattern so they used parts of a nuclear guidance system 😂
Which design program do you use for cnc milling?☺
this kid does alot of shit. right on
Like the new style of filming!
Do you put your artwork into an online portfolio?
ooh, more aow
I have one question can you blacksmith?
You again.
I want a cnc😭
