Very excellent rendition of a Janis Joplin classic! Yoyoka delivered a lively tempo and the singer really poured her heart into the vocals. The guitarist and other band-members were equally sensational!
Ummm. Ummmmm. First, I was shocked that this wasn't the Soma family band and actually Yoyoka's first band band, as in all girl rock band. Second, these are 11 to 14 year old girls and they rock, every one of them is rocking out in time and like they've been at it for much longer than they've even been alive. Third, that vocalist, Leia Kato, ummm - wow - she's 12 and pulling off a performance like that. Stunning. She's got the moves, looks and good pronunciation. I hope to see them stick together and do more. This was great, truly great.
This might explain part of it. I am a huge Yoyoka fan, as are you, so I don't need to go into her accomplishments, but I came across the following randomly and it seems appropriate to your comment. The Guitarist (Kanon) is in a Band called "Accent". They have released 3 CDs already, much like Yoyo. From the Accent Official website: "Kanon was born in 2006. She has sung and played the piano her whole life, and started to learn guitar under her father at the age of 6. She is multitalented that she not only composes songs, but also handles arrangement and mixing. She uses PRS Cutom24 given by her father."
I don’t know what to think about a 12-year-old plaintively crying out, “Y’know that I need a man!” But then, the more I think about it, I’m not sure what I thought about it when Janice sang it back when I was a pre-teen.
I was not going to dive in here and end up with recommendations (try to keep this short)but in intermidiate school 1967-1969 we had pretty good cover bands at that age and this proves you don't have to sing exactly like Queen Janis! I love this girl...and the rest of the band(I'm 66 now but I was also 12 once before so, lighten up!)ha-ha.I played in a few Rock bands, I write my own now and this performance is cute and I mean cute and 'awesome!'Reminds me of our school dances when Rock was Heavy and had substance. And radio was 24 hrs. a day 'Rock' all day and all night! Lovely...this Band is just lovely!!! Janis is smiling at this cover!
Such spirit and divine playing! Japan has always been a great supporter of the classic rock sound. Thank you, girls, for keeping rock alive and pursuing your dreams. It's great to see these girls all together in the same space playing their hearts out. I would love to see Yoyoka continuing to work with these other kids. The singer has a great set of rock and roll pipes!
Wow.... absolutely brilliant... the vocalist has such strong vocals for her age .. The whole band is great... such a bright future... Love to see all this classic rock being played by these youngsters from abroad it is so awesome...
Ok, let's start with the elephant in the room here - HOW do you find a bunch of girls under the age of 15 who have HEARD of Janis Joplin in the first place (much less perform a song from her....) ? Even if they have heard of her, and for the sake of argument, enjoy her music, how did you even one girl to SING her part properly? Leia Kato's voice was like designed for singing this. There's of course many more questions as to how to form the rest of this band. I guess we all knew Yoyoka was an old soul in the first place, but now there are 3 other Japanese girls who seem to also be old souls?? Whoa there a minute mate..... This is simply awesome!
Rahim Rahmat I'm Japanese so maybe I can say a few things. I am 35 years old and I was born listening to Led Zeppelin. My dad loves rock music - Zep is his most beloved band and mine too - but he listens to all genres. Many don't know but Japanese people love western music especially the big names from the 60s, 70s. Janis Joplin is famous here. I always see you in Yoyoka's videos so you know how she got started. Maybe you know Jimmy Sakurai Jimmy Page's doppelganger (he's about 50 now). I know a girl, she is three years old, she loves Zep, Deep Purple, Van Halen, Bon Jovi, and she goes crazy when she sees Ozzy Osbourne...there are many other children and teenagers who are dedicated to non-Japanese music. There are different generations that enjoy western music and we thank our parents for not being the stereotype of “old fashioned Japanese”. Good old Mississippi blues is also very popular in Japan.
@@marciashiraishi5891 That is so cool! That means that the Heart of Rock and Roll has shifted to Japan, and it is from there that Rock and Roll may have a chance to rise again. I can see it in these girls now.
@@RahimRahmat I think rock'n'roll will never die...just like classical music. These two musical genres are very expressive, they touch people's souls, minds and hearts (many children here play piano and violin). Beatles and Led Zeppelin are at the top, which explains why Jimmy Page often came to Japan. Those expensive and luxurious books about him and the band have exclusive editions in Japanese - it shows how smart he is...a curious detail: many girls want be drummers. Their favorite drummer is - guess who... - John Bonham of course! (the three year old girl I mentioned loves Bonham). I think the future of rock is in good hands 😊
@@marciashiraishi5891 THE SPIRIT OF ROCK AND ROLL IS UNIVERSAL. It made a leap to England, and then bounced back to the USA with the Beatles and Stones, and by then Japan and the Philippines were hooked also. I think the West has so much to learn from Japan, but that is another topic. I have heard that 100 years ago it was a point of status for a typical "modern" Japanese home to have a "Western" room. Hopefully the uniting love of music will help us all find what is best in ourselves and others.
@@TwinTailSteve There's a song I listen to every day, I was born listening to this song and even though I've heard it thousands of times I still get goosebumps especially when the solo starts, that song is Stairway To Heaven.
