    You did get a very good glimpse of the route 17 and it only gets better further north. When the weather is good it is ubelievably beautiful. Many places along the highway 17 the scenery is on par with Lofoten. Sure there are 6 ferries, but it is worth it and I think the longest one now is free.

    • @SeanandEmily
      @SeanandEmily  11 місяців тому +1

      Hi Hallvard, Yeah the plan was to stick with the 17 all the way up however we had to wait a while for the first ferry and then when we checked we realized on Sundays the ferry's don't run so often so we decided to head inland instead, we also want to visit the Artic circle center =)
      But for sure this is a road we would like to come back and ride all the way so thanks for your recommendation.
      Thanks for watching and we hope you are enjoying the heading North Playlist.

    • @SeanandEmily
      @SeanandEmily  Рік тому +1

      Yeah the Huts are really well priced! Especially the further North you go. They have cooking facilities a sofa bed and shared bathrooms and usually the location is great too - for that price it's not worth getting the tent out. I'm not sure if they are fully booked out in the peak season though, at the start of the trip we did struggle to find availability (but that was in the south).
      Thanks for following our journey!

    Next time wifey and i drive up north it might be time to take the road 17. Ive always been going on E6 up there but its kind of boring so next summer its going to happen. 😊 And if you didnt know the polar circle moves 15 meters more north for every year so for example where they built the Arctic circle center at the E6 the actual spot is around 450m more to the north now from where they built that place. 😜 Im not sure what year it will turn south again but its going to turn sometime in the future.

    • @SeanandEmily
      @SeanandEmily  Рік тому

      Yeah when we go back i think we will try and ride all of the 17 (due to the ferry timetable on Sundays we had to head back inland as some of them only ran twice a day)
      Yeah we heard about the polar circle moving -very interesting, still the Arctic circle center marks the occasion well 😊 Perhaps they should place a monument on little rail tracks 😜.

      Hi David, thanks so much for saying so -sometimes the editing takes longer than the riding lol. It's been amazing it really has! It's also great to be able to re-live the rides and get a chance to see everything whilst not having to pay attention to the road.
      Thanks again for your encouraging words!

    I think it's seven ferries or something, we got a little tired of all ferries to take in consideration and adapt to, and I wasn't really that facinated by that coastal road but that's just me 😊 I go to Norway for the valleys, mountain passes, fjords, rivers and so on which actually made me appreciate the way south on the E6 much more, for example the road along the Svartisen/ Saltfjellet national park 👌👍🙂

    • @SeanandEmily
      @SeanandEmily  Рік тому +2

      Yeah there's a lot of ferries for sure, as it was Sunday we had to change our route a little bit as one of the ferries didn't run very often -but the inland route was awesome too. We live in Switzerland and the coastal roads is the one thing we don't have so wanted to make the most of it 🙂.
      Thanks for watching!

    • @SeanandEmily
      @SeanandEmily  Рік тому

      Hi Craig, thanks for your comment it's appreciated!
      No problem, we went late in season so this trip was Mid September. We were expecting Mosquitos however they weren't a problem. When we started setting the tent up by the lake they started to get get us but the spray seemed to work and then as soon as Emily made the fire (which was Smokey as times as it was damp) they all seemed to disappear. Perhaps earlier on in the season it would have been a problem but it wasn't exactly hot in September.
      Thanks for watching i we hope you enjoy the rest of the series.

      Another great episode, it’s a very relaxing watch as always so very enjoyable! I wonder if you’ve kept a record of the amount of fuel used which would give an indication of the fuel economy of the mighty GS, in the past I’ve managed between 50-60mpg without trying too hard! Perhaps at the end of the trip you may have some figures for us, total distance travelled etc! See you on the next one! 👏😀👍🦦🏍

      @@norriemasson4080 An important thing to know about at least Sweden where I live, is that it's the opposite - many places don't except cash, just card payment. I haven't had cash in my wallet for years 😋
      If you change money and bring cash you might actually have difficulties getting use for them 😀

    Hi Sean and Emily! Really enjoying your Nordic journey. My wife and I travelled as far as Alesund during July this year.
