Best Chelsea Player for each need: Best Keeper: Petrovic (better at distribution and command long the box and on par with Sanchez at shot stopping) RB: Malo Gusto (he’s great but doesn’t offer the attacking threat of Reese but he’s a lot more consistent and available than Reese) If the RB will invert at times, then Reese over Gusto. This is a battle to watch RCB: Tosin (Game fit vs Fofana who needs time to get back to the team) LCB: Colwill (Better of Badeashile but needs to prove himself and make the position his. Chelsea has not option in the LCB that offer a great attacking threat through long balls or shots- similar to how Rudigar was) LB: Cucurrela (riding on confidence from the euros and was the most improved player under Poch. He arguably saved Chelsea’s season. Cucu has perfected the LB inverted LB role. Chilwell is a shadow of his former self and needs intervention). DM: Caciedo (Can be excellent at breaking up attacks and starting the counterattack, which is his primary role. Needs to work on his fouling and passing) AM: This position is the most difficult for the team (for many reasons). Enzo is good at passing but not as good as we all thought. He is very poor at shooting. That’s his biggest drawback. The recent social media issue doesn’t help his case. Maresca may need to turn to Lavia here. Playmaker No. 10: Palmer LW: Nicholas Jackson (one of Chelsea’s best ball carrier. Excellent dribbling, layoff, holdup and his strength on the ball is unmatched at Chelsea (except for Reese). His finishing needs improvement and heading as well. Playing NJ as a LW brings out his best qualities and minimizes his weaknesses, which can be eliminated through training. RW: Madeuke (The most direct player at Chelsea willing to take players on. This might not be Maresca style though… Because of this, I think Maresca will play Palmer at RW and move Carney in the 10 position. Carney is great at ticky taka football which Maresca likes) Striker: Nkunko (Best finisher at Chelsea. Palmer is got at creating space and shots from around the 18 but Nkunku knows where the goal is, even with his back turned and is also good at beating defenders and find the goal. The team needs to find a: Goal Keeper Left Center Back Attacking Midfielder Forward Several Players needs to be sold as well

Enzo creates and sees spaces more than any of our midfielder he's only weakness is defending. Enzo in Real Madrid team or Barcelona would be fire. We don't have smart attackers who make use of space gettting behind defenders. Enzo is better of with Gallagher cos Gallagher does the covering marking dirty work for him.
I think the sitting midfielder will be either Enzo Fernandez or Romeo Lavia, Caicedo will be a box to box midfielder, similar to what Ndidi did at Leicester last season under maresca

ATM we got Enzo, Caicedo, Lavia, Gallagher, KDH, Uguchukwo, Santos and Carney. Thats 8 players for 3 positions. And you could argue that Cole Palmer might be the 9th. So in order to give players a reasonable amount of minutes we have to loan/sell at least 1 maybe even 2 or 3 of them. Nkunku will explode this season for sure, he didn’t played very well because he needed more recovery time and had a rushed return, it was easy to realize that when he had the ball he looked like nervous of breaking his knee or something like that, until his last match where I saw him running more
The guys with the football brain and technique to play 6 are Enzo and Santos. Caicedo’s profile would be wasted in that position. He needs to be a higher 8 in attack. Defensive phase a 6. He is already a superstar. We need to use his energy. His quick passing and press resistance up high is great. His press and his blind side tackling can’t be matched by anyone - I liken that part is his game to Kante. Enzo will be a superstar in the 6 position. He will hold his position and block passing lanes only, conserving his energy. He will have defensive protection all around him. His ability to dictate the game is phenomenal. He can hit any pass, but is intelligent enough to see the next move. He knows when to hold possession, when an overload is happening down a flank, what player in our team is in form, when to play a through ball etc. that’s definitely not Caicedo’s strength.
I'm not saying anything about what Enzo will do for the players. Look okay what happened with Poch. Some said he would do well with the likes of Mudryk.. but Enzo teaches tactics which hopefully will help our young lads

Playing Caicedo at 6 is just a waste of a player. He can create quick dangerous forward passes and could also recover balls quickly. The best player for the DM is Enzo and Lavia.
I've said it before, I will say it again. I don't think we're going to invert a fullback into midfield. Not that James and Cucu can't do it, but why would we do it? We're not Leicester. Doing the inverted fullback thing allowed Leicester to attack with two central midfielders down the middle while not having to rely on the attacking ability of their right back, and it got the most out of their right winger. But we're not Leicester. There's no obvious reason why we would want to be attacking with two central midfielders while using the right winger, Palmer, as a lone 1v1 breakthrough specialist, and the right back, be it James or Gusto, as a pure defender that has next to zero attacking output down the wing.
Wouldn't include Colwill, from what I've seen he seems not only immature and unwilling to show flexibility, but in a Chelsea shirt hasn't show one iota of his touted proficiency in either progressive passing nor defending (seems slow and positionally unaware). Before his injury Badiashile blew him away, and he's hardly a world-beater.

(I’d prefer to have Carney in there) 3 upfront will be Palmer on RW, Nkunku as LW and Jackson as the 9. (Which is good, cos Noni, Mudryk and Sterling are all DOG SHIT) The back 4 is a easy call…. James at RB, Cucurella at LB and Tosin and Colwill as CB’s. (Gusto ready to come in on either right or left side)

Incidentally, look up his defensive stats for Leicester last season. This situation brings to light the importance of understanding player compatibility and the need for strategic planning in team composition. Going forward, it might be more beneficial for the team to reassess the midfield partnership and consider alternatives that maximize the potential of each player. Enzo out = better Chelsea team
Palmer & Gallagher were our best players last season, so why is there so much talk about selling Conor. We need to keep our best players, not waste money on kids just to send them out on loan, in order to sell them at a loss

I think and really hope explode will come from Gallagher, Dewbury Hall and Jackson, and i really hope you are right for the ones you mentioned as well
Cucurella is not a good defensive player but he functions well in a good system. He still doesn't know how to press hard defensively. He will take your ass to the cleaners in a good system but when the system is down, he is utter rubbish and those are signs of what I am talking. about.

One slotted in as a central defender, Kyle Walker style, and the other slotted in as a defensive midfielder. Count the number of defensive players. 2 CB's, 2 fullbacks, 1 DM. Now imagine a double 6 midfield with 2 CB's and a defensive fullback behind. Again, 2+2+1. The difference is, do you want Lavia or Caicedo or someone in that mould be the halfspace attacker in the right side while Palmer is getting somewhat isolated as outside right, or do you want Palmer as the halfspace attacker in the right side with Gusto or James on the outside?

The thing you never want in modern football is to have a fullback high up the pitch but he can’t do tricks/skill moves/tiki taka pass, through pass, isn’t silky/tekky with his touches/close control. You would rather have a proper attacking player high up the pitch. Chelsea have so many wide players who can do tricks and skill moves, they can play on the wing. Palmer can be the 8 10 hybrid.

Not even close to being a Sarri 4-3-3, aside from the nominal numbers. Also, Nkunku as an outside left would be hopeless. Palmer right wing wouldn't be great either. It's one of those jobs that he could do but he wouldn't necessarily be stellar at it, and he certainly wouldn't be all that he can be. Lastly, don't mistake the number 8's for classic box to box midfielders. The right sided one is an attacking 8, the left sided one is effectively a number 10.

@@iliasabkari8729 KDH is the obvious first choice LCM (or left number 8) and his role is likely offensive enough to be essentially a number 10 role that also fits Carney. Incidentally, look up his defensive stats for Leicester last season. There's really not a lot, at least not that I can see, to make a compelling argument that Carney just doesn't have the defensive ability for the role.
I can't be convinced that Chelsea has a single CB that's better than Chalobah. Not Colwill, not Tosin, not Disasi.

It's apparent that Caicedo thrives more when he's not paired with Enzo, allowing him to utilize his strengths fully without redundancy or obstruction.

Going forward, it might be more beneficial for the team to reassess the midfield partnership and consider alternatives that maximize the potential of each player.

Cucurella is not a good defensive player but he functions well in a good system. He still doesn't know how to press hard defensively. He will take your ass to the cleaners in a good system but when the system is down, he is utter rubbish and those are signs of what I am talking. about.

@@thierryhenry674 Double pivot isn't any more defensive than what Leicester did last season. The price to pay for attacking with both number 8's in midfield was that BOTH fullbacks were defensive. One slotted in as a central defender, Kyle Walker style, and the other slotted in as a defensive midfielder. Count the number of defensive players. 2 CB's, 2 fullbacks, 1 DM. Now imagine a double 6 midfield with 2 CB's and a defensive fullback behind. Again, 2+2+1.
The difference is, do you want Lavia or Caicedo or someone in that mould be the halfspace attacker in the right side while Palmer is getting somewhat isolated as outside right, or do you want Palmer as the halfspace attacker in the right side with Gusto or James on the outside?

The two inverted fullbacks are not defensive, they are dictating play in the central midfield like a Spanish maestro. Creating spaces and dragging opponents away from their positions with their game reading and passes.
The thing you never want in modern football is to have a fullback high up the pitch but he can’t do tricks/skill moves/tiki taka pass, through pass, isn’t silky/tekky with his touches/close control. You would rather have a proper attacking player high up the pitch.
Chelsea have so many wide players who can do tricks and skill moves, they can play on the wing. Palmer can be the 8 10 hybrid.

And I would argue that both fullbacks are in fact defensive, to the extent that anything is. They're part of the back 5. They're not going forward.
That aside, if Palmer is playing RCM and KDH is playing LCM, then doesn't that mean that we have all of Enzo, Caicedo, Lavia, Gallagher, Santos, Casadei, and Uguchukwu for what is essentially just one spot in midfield?

You should see Mudryk in training. He hits a ball very nicely. It's just that he's a bit fragile in the mentality department. If he can get over that then there's one heck of a player hiding inside him. But granted, that is a big if.
