World's 2nd Largest Salt Mines I How Horses Discover Salt Range I Gilani Logs
A few days ago we traveled from Islamabad to Faisalabad by motorway (M-2 & M-4). During our journey, we passed through many historical places. We drove through the Valley of Peacocks, Kallar Kahar and the Salt Range which is considered as “House of Salt”.
Salt is essential for life in general, and saltiness is one of the basic human tastes. Salt is one of the oldest and most ubiquitous food seasonings, and salting is an important method of food preservation.
Some of the earliest evidence of salt processing dates to around 6,000 BC, when people living in the area of present-day Romania boiled spring water to extract salts; a salt-works in China dates to approximately the same period. Salt was also prized by the ancient Hebrews, the Greeks, the Romans, the Byzantines, the Hittites, Egyptians, and the Indians.
Salt became an important article of trade and was transported by boat across the Mediterranean Sea, along specially built salt roads, and across the Sahara on camel caravans. The scarcity and universal need for salt have led nations to go to war over it and use it to raise tax revenues. Salt is used in religious ceremonies and has other cultural and traditional significance.
Salt is processed from salt mines, and by the evaporation of seawater (sea salt) and mineral-rich spring water in shallow pools.
History of Rock Salt dates back to its discovery by Alexander the Great's troops in 326 BC when he came to conquer India and stayed in Salt Range Area of Pakistan, but it started trading in the Mughal era.
The Khewra Salt Mines (or Mayo Salt Mine) are located in the same Salt Range in north of Pind Dadan Khan, of Jhelum District, Punjab Region alongside M-2 Islamabad-Lahore Motorway and is the second largest in the world.
After Salt Range, we crossed the historic Jhelum River near Bhera, on the banks of which there was a bloody battle between Alexander the Great and Raja Porus in 326 BC.
We crossed also the river Chenab before Pindi Bhattian. It is said that it is not water but love that flows in this river because three famous romance stories Sohni Mahinwal, Heer Ranjha and Mirza Sahiban were born on its banks.
During this time we also passed Hafizabad area which is called the “House of Rice” and Sargodha which is also known as “Citric Area”.
From Pindi Bhattian we turned on M-4 and reached Faisalabad, the third largest city of the country which is also called Manchester of Pakistan.

Sir. Basmati rice has the same story. Pakistani Basmati are being packed and sold as Indian Basmati in 2010.
Indian rice were packed in pak masmati rice and the India low grade rice put the value of pak rice down but when the complaint raised to Dubai areztocratic family than the reality came out and Pakistan started packing in Karachi the rice but before Basmati was going with our packing and the bags

Sir. Pakistan is selling salt to India on the rate of 0.03 paisa per kilo and India is packing and selling the same salt as Indian mine salt on high price. It's reality that inda have only sea salt.
Long time ago ago a romor was heard that Pakistan canceled his contract with India but you know the Indian policy and our weakness therefore, again export of salt is going on till today...
