I didn't include any sorts of spoilers in here, other than the fact Blizzard now has dwarves worshipping the Omnissiah from Warhammer 40k. Which is, in my opinion, is a great addition to the lore. After all, who needs flesh when there is the eternal machine? Anyway, enjoy!

I think it's criminal that WoW is a class-based fantasy MMO with virtually ZERO class-related content. Legion was awesome because of the class Order Halls and unique campaigns. It really helped you RP as the class you chose to play. What they need to do is add that from level 1 to max. FF14 has class quests every few levels or so, each with a plot and storyline to follow. Why can't WoW do that? Use them to teach new players about how to play the class, how certain abilities work, introduce them to the world, etc.
This is a prime reason of exactly why Legion was so good, and why Shadowlands covenants were so unpopular due to feeling forced by what was meta instead of the class fantasy you chose when you made your character.

Nah, I'm not talented enough to do that. If I am crafting something, it's usually things made from foam for DnD nights. Made a cage last night and I wanna make a ruined tower here soon to challenge myself. One day I might pick up proper leatherworking, as I know several people that do it. We shall see. :)
Nice, solid leatherworkers is always a plus for the larping community. A lot of online ren fare stuff usually breaks apart after a couple games due to the constant stress from running around and hitting things. Can’t wait to hear your tales in Tabletop Nixxiom boss.
the great thing about ESO delves is that there are a lot of them and you just do them once for the rewards and then you move on. It is like a fun side mission while doing stuff in the open world. I think the mistake blizzard is making is having only a handful of delves and trying to make them replayable. Replayable content incentivizes min/max mentality and will drain the fun out of the content like what happened with torghast.
Great to see a very honest impression of the alpha, exactly what I expected from you and it's why I am always interested in what you have to say about the game. Playing with a broken pinkie sounds hard but I'm glad you got to play the alpha and make this video, I'd very much enjoy seeing you stream whenever you feel inclined to do so. I don't really play WoW or any MMOs anymore but your content never fails to entertain and inform.
Damn brother, Glad you lived through that wreck, looked like some of mine i've walked out of, although you got more broken bones than I ever have had in all my 8 wrecks combined. I usually come ut with maybe a bruise, a small cut at most, and i've rolled 8 times before, and hit concrete barriers at speeds over 80-100. Never really been involved in a 2-car accident than was anything worse than a slight bump coming out of a driveway with no info shared.
the alpha has phases where certain zones/content is available. At least that's what it sounded like from other CCs. I still have the weird bug where I wasn't given alpha access, so i wouldn't know for sure.
I know it seems lazy, but I personally love when you see little things in your favorite games that possibly hint to the developers love of another game! The Robot clan that looks just like the people from 40k makes laugh thinking the dev of the zone prob plays 40K a lot and had a big impact on there life so when makin the zone they thought of something they personally thought would look really cool.
Hey Nixxiom, do you think wow will ever have another "Cataclysm" expac: both continents: Eastern Kingdoms/Kalimdor...... If so, which zones would you like to see changed? Mine personally, Desolace, because the druids were going to make it lush like Faerelas. I wonder if desolace looks like the Druids vision of Emerald Dreams now.... Another for me, would be Durotar: If you have played the Orc Heritage Armor quest, they planted a seed in the Oasis where the goblin dude is that gives every low 10 lvl player. Is Durotar going to become like Feralas aswell? The Orc's picked Durotar as their land as PUNISHMENT for all the Atrocities they commited, a land with nothing, desolate. where nothing grows but cactus apples.....
I would say if there's one zone that I think would be cool to see changed further, it would be the Barrens. In cataclysm they began the whole storyline of how the emerald dream was leaking out into the zone, causing all of that wild growth, but it would be cool to see the entire Zone become like an emerald dream forest, clashing with all the thorns of the quillboar. They could even add a little bit of verticality into the zone, where you can climb up into the trees, jump from Branch to branch, vine to vine, and so forth.
No one wants to play 2 years in a dark zone. It has to be bright. Plus you are barely underground in this zone. Pockets of light are shining through cracks above. The final zone is darker deep underground, but probably not as dark as you want. It would be cool for immersion, but not for 2 years of playing a game. Same reason the Maw was hated. It was dark and you couldn't mount. Cool for immersion. Terrible gameplay.
I can’t say I’m much of a fan to be honest. I think the subscription model for games is old hat nowadays. I have just as much fun, if not more, in none subscription games. Which draws the question; am I getting value for money for paying an additional subscription fee on top of the games to have an equal enjoyment experience? I would play wow again if I bought the game and that was it, as I could validate playing more casually but paying £10 a month to have fun when I can play other games and also have fun removes the “NEED” for me to choose WoW. I currently play Warhammer 3, Star Citizen, Last Epoch, No Rest for the Wicked, Manor Lords Blood Bowl 3 and V Rising. I can have a varied gaming experience and never get bored and feel I need to grind anything. All of my game feel fun without getting burnt out. I think WoW is for people who fear trying new games nowadays. It’s a sad view that I have but I can’t validate spending £120 a year when I don’t need to. Fun is fun, it doesn’t matter where you get it but value is a serious question that never really gets spoken about.
Value is subjective these days. Just ask Asia and their opinions on such things. You be talking to a wall these days since everyone has their own opinion on it.
Hach i would love if they just would go a bit back to the roots. Shrink down the crossrealm stuff maybe to the same language, make gear "matter again" with more and fun stats or aktives and tune down the ability roaster for each class so that a "finisher" feals like a finisher again and not like "just a button that blinked that i presed between my 20 other abilities"
Gotta be honest Delves is really the only "new" thing they're trying here and it's lackluster. i think they're running out of creativity at Blizzard, even Shadowlands had an interesting pitch (before we found out how horrid it was) but i don't even wanna give it a go at this point.
Im going to be honest. Dragonflight just didn't hit it off with me. Maybe it was because of the sour taste in my mouth after shadowlands, but im not sure. Lately, I've been playing a lot of wrath classic and other games, so im going to keep waiting on this xpac and see what else comes out about it before i purchase it. If dragonflight was a step in the right direction, i hope the war within is another step forward and not just a step sideways.
It amazes me that people still play glorified janitor for NPCs in WoW after 15 years... can't wait for the obligatory "do something with manure!" quest in War Within!
Damn, this expansion has absolutely nothing as a selling point... delves are just a cheap knock-off from ESO that they'll drop halfway into the expansion, the talents are literally Legion artifact talents slapped onto your character and the companions will be absolutely pointless in 99% of the game's content unlike ESO where you can actually visit old zones.
Its just like with the crafting system in DF right now. It was clearly a stolen amalgamation from FFXIV and ESO, except done exceptionally poorly for no reason. I genuinely believe that people are Blizz need to sit down and actually understand things before they try to implement them.
Looks boring. Just like the last few expansions. Go pew pew big numbers mash buttons mindlessly and win. Delves is a dissapointment. Why they couldn't make them a literal solo dungeon and add these stupid mechanics is beyond me. Something doesn't need to have a bunch of fancy mechanics to be fun.
My hope is that the story is "the grip" that makes people want to play, relying on flashy new back of the box features to make people interested is how we get borrowed power, and I'd rather have a fairly fixed set of features that get expanded upon and improved over time.
they dont need to do that to draw u in. Look at mop for example. New class, new race, pet battles, scenarios. Tons of things to draw u in or legion, the return of Illidan and Demon hunter class. Wow Wotlk death knight and arthas. I skipped BFA and Shadowlands cuz theres nothing at all that draws me in. I even gave dragonflight a try cuz of new class and race but the levelling experience and chaotic story telling turned me off and made me quit again. Blizzard needs to make a story mode telling the whole story from vanilla to current expansion, this is something they can keep using for coming expansions (maybe also let u unlock new substories etc. and ofc give u nice rewards) and also they rly have to fix the levelling experience. It will draw lots of people in. The war within gives new decent feature but nothing blows my mind and I still feel indifferent towards it.
You saw the writing in Dragonflight. Unless Metzen is taking a heavy hand in directing that then it will be crap, boring, not Warcraft but more like modern Disney storytelling.

Honestly, I'm fine with the slow adjustments and new content. A "Big draw feature" sounds great, but let's actually think about it, when you remove new classes and races from the mix, how often have those been important to WoW beyond for just that expansion? BC had flying and two new races. WOTLK had no new on the box features beyond the Death knight class. Cataclysm had the new world and two races. Pandaria had a race and class. WoD had Garrisons. Legion had the introduction to borrowed power and a new class. BFA had more borrowed power, and island expeditions. Shadowlands had Covenants and Chromie time(Which I'm not gonna count, cause it was added in prepatch and I can't let SL have a win). And Dragonflight had Dragonriding. Out of all of those, only BC, and Dragonflight had a big ticket item that's generally considered to be a net positive that isn't a race or class(Though I like Cata's new zones just fine). All of the best changes they've done have been things that enhance the original formula(Enhanced mounts in BC and Dragonflight, enhanced dungeons and raids with the addition of heroics/mythics, enhanced classes with the addition of the Monk, Evoker, DK, and DH. So yeah, we'll see how delves go, they've tried similar with Visions and Torgast, but maybe this time they'll nail it. But the most important thing they can do is get the basics better. That and make the world harder. Not asking for Dark Souls, but I have to run around in my underwear to notice regular enemies chewing on me in the Emerald Dream. A little spark of danger helps keep us awake Blizzard!

The War Within looks very promising for a Wow-ish expansion with a modern take to it, it’s very dwarven the first few zones, looks like it feels like an old world mmo again but not really, and the final two zones are the best ones. The feature I’ve been most excited for are not delves, or earthen. Currently I’m extremely excited to use mounts I’ve collected over the years rather than the dragons I was stuck with for 1 1/2 years now and it made me happy the dragonriding features are expanding
In a way i kinda want they do in cata again. Even in 76 i like the idea of updates or even expansions that changes up the main world map. U know let the world evolve? Build up places, some get destroyed, like maybe the scarlet crusade have a… crusade? Raging the lands killing of the fake believers and undead lovers! The undead come back cause of whatever reason of not having a lich king, having a new leader that directs the raging undead but kinda fails to control like the lich king did. Or u can do ofc the void attacks or whatever color themed enemie from space that comes to bother us. Or even gnomes and some goblins work together doing an experiment but goes horribly wrong infecting azaroth with something cause for whatever reason people do things in that world. Like a 28 days later thing XD. Ofcourse u have ur naga invasion from umm… forgot her name right now. but A reason to play the main lands again and see what changed. Cause rn everything just stays the same and is kinda ruining it for new players.( and just kinda sucks imo) Im for just ditching the old for the new. U can keep ur chromie time stuff for other world or maybe places to do again. Having fun world events like eso and f76 have for that themed expansion in eso case. Challenging ofc but give nice rewards. Cause rn just adding more and more land u NEVER come back to just bloats the game.
Would rather watch paint dry. Same boring gameplay that all Ion expansions have while leveling, because all he cares about is endgame and his echochamber of mythic raiders from a esport that failed a decade ago. Creatively bankrupt cut and paste zones, awful characters, another reskin race no one cares about, delves look like they were aesthetically designed by AI. Character writing will be as cringe as the last expansion and be no different than watching a Disney show that kids don't even watch. WoW is made for 3 demographics. 1) Slaves who sell MT carries to 2) Mobile gamers who pay to win so they can engage in things like casual pvp. These people quit a few months in. 3) Solo gamer mount and pet collectors who usually have trash laptops who can't play triple A games. They don't know how bad the story and graphics are in WoW because they haven't played anything else since 2004.
I wouldn't say Dragonflight's quest progression is "A nice little blend of action and storytelling" I have 86 screencaps of "Objective: Wait and watch something happen until you can progress" objectives, and have autistically timed them all, there is 1 hour and 38 minutes of just standing there in Dragonflight's story quest progression. They didn't blend the storytelling with the action, they just keep forcing you to sit down and watch an unskippable cutscene. In fact, before being patched, you had to wait 1-15 minutes for the boat that brings you to Dragonflight, and then 6 minutes of unskippable RP dialogue before the first quest to even fight something.
Based on what they said and what I've been able to see so far, it does feel like the main "hook" this time is the actual work that's being done to fix things. Warbands we "wanted", but it mostly sounded like (on the Deep Dive Panel at Bcon) it's a side-product of Blizzard completely refurbishing some of that old inherited tech from ye olden days of WoW for these things to even work. I'd assume it's not any different. They are finally future-proofing the Game and if that in itself isn't a hook, I think the only significant thing TWW has going for it in that sense is or it rather feels like Blizzard is banking on, is that it's the start of the Saga. It doesn't try to fundamentally change the Gameplay loop other than adding Delves for more Endgame-oriented true Solo-Play. All in all, this all makes a whole lot of sense to me at least, as that is both what it very blatantly feels like and is supported by what they've said. Apparently the Midnight and Last Titan features are supposed to be huge, mindblowing stuff that's being planned and I wouldn't be surprised to realize that most of their features budget for TWW went into Hero Talents and Tuning and Balancing all of that noise for.. what? Over 30 Speccs by now? And the remainder of big feature-type stuff is for the middle and end of this Saga.
imo "new features" is what got us azerite armour and shadowlands covenants. We don't need NeW fEaTuReS, we need a good game, where you play to have fun. Dragonflight was a great step in that direction, hopefully they can make the story more interesting and less "character monologues for 10 minutes and explains the entire story." Legion was the one good example of a 'new feature' actually working, and the main part wasn't even the artifact weapons themselves, it was all the class fantasy and campaign that went along with them. Make a good game and they will come. Hopefully blizzard has finally learned that.
The only way delves are gonna be good is if Blizzard designed a few dozen of them. They shouldn't feel like a procedural ai generated instance like Torgast did, as it felt stale very fast. These should be singleplayer or up to 5 men dungeon-like instances with each having an intentional design. If it feels like another procedurally-generated chore players are forced into doing in order to stay relevant, this expansion will be yet another failed retail expansion.

Alpha is going weekly with each week focusing on different zones. That's why you were put into seemingly random place and level. Beta should be more representative of actual "release candidate" gameplay so to speak.
They just need fresh new people at Blizz with new ideas, they are just doing Rinse and Repeat with small tweaks here and there! Just like the Hero talents with one new skill with a bunch of passive crap stats.
At one point we we're like, it's okay, we're blasting enemies because this is low level. But now, the current expansion combat is also boring because you still feel like a god between mortals when playing lol

The delve is the same but it’ll have weekly quests kind of things in them that change around
I just hope the lore kicks off and gives that warcraft 3 world building , which could take warcraft forward for the next decade.

Nixxiom... Blizzard approached Warhammer years ago and was turned away, then made a close but not too close copy with Warcraft.

Damn, this expansion has absolutely nothing as a selling point... delves are just a cheap knock-off from ESO that they'll drop halfway into the expansion, the talents are literally Legion artifact talents slapped onto your character and the companions will be absolutely pointless in 99% of the game's content unlike ESO where you can actually visit old zones.
So what you are asking is for an expansion that is just a zone revamp of the older zones like a mission pack and nothing else?
Its just like with the crafting system in DF right now. It was clearly a stolen amalgamation from FFXIV and ESO, except done exceptionally poorly for no reason. I genuinely believe that people are Blizz need to sit down and actually understand things before they try to implement them.
Looks boring. Just like the last few expansions. Go pew pew big numbers mash buttons mindlessly and win. Delves is a dissapointment. Why they couldn't make them a literal solo dungeon and add these stupid mechanics is beyond me. Something doesn't need to have a bunch of fancy mechanics to be fun.
My hope is that the story is "the grip" that makes people want to play, relying on flashy new back of the box features to make people interested is how we get borrowed power, and I'd rather have a fairly fixed set of features that get expanded upon and improved over time.
You can't play a story... Besides, wow is and will always be a gear grind, they have zero other ideas.

they dont need to do that to draw u in. Look at mop for example. New class, new race, pet battles, scenarios. Tons of things to draw u in or legion, the return of Illidan and Demon hunter class. Wow Wotlk death knight and arthas. I skipped BFA and Shadowlands cuz theres nothing at all that draws me in. I even gave dragonflight a try cuz of new class and race but the levelling experience and chaotic story telling turned me off and made me quit again. Blizzard needs to make a story mode telling the whole story from vanilla to current expansion, this is something they can keep using for coming expansions (maybe also let u unlock new substories etc. and ofc give u nice rewards) and also they rly have to fix the levelling experience. It will draw lots of people in. The war within gives new decent feature but nothing blows my mind and I still feel indifferent towards it.
You saw the writing in Dragonflight. Unless Metzen is taking a heavy hand in directing that then it will be crap, boring, not Warcraft but more like modern Disney storytelling.

Honestly, I'm fine with the slow adjustments and new content. A "Big draw feature" sounds great, but let's actually think about it, when you remove new classes and races from the mix, how often have those been important to WoW beyond for just that expansion? BC had flying and two new races. WOTLK had no new on the box features beyond the Death knight class. Cataclysm had the new world and two races. Pandaria had a race and class. WoD had Garrisons. Legion had the introduction to borrowed power and a new class. BFA had more borrowed power, and island expeditions. Shadowlands had Covenants and Chromie time(Which I'm not gonna count, cause it was added in prepatch and I can't let SL have a win). And Dragonflight had Dragonriding. Out of all of those, only BC, and Dragonflight had a big ticket item that's generally considered to be a net positive that isn't a race or class(Though I like Cata's new zones just fine).
All of the best changes they've done have been things that enhance the original formula(Enhanced mounts in BC and Dragonflight, enhanced dungeons and raids with the addition of heroics/mythics, enhanced classes with the addition of the Monk, Evoker, DK, and DH. So yeah, we'll see how delves go, they've tried similar with Visions and Torgast, but maybe this time they'll nail it. But the most important thing they can do is get the basics better.
That and make the world harder. Not asking for Dark Souls, but I have to run around in my underwear to notice regular enemies chewing on me in the Emerald Dream. A little spark of danger helps keep us awake Blizzard!

The War Within looks very promising for a Wow-ish expansion with a modern take to it, it’s very dwarven the first few zones, looks like it feels like an old world mmo again but not really, and the final two zones are the best ones. The feature I’ve been most excited for are not delves, or earthen. Currently I’m extremely excited to use mounts I’ve collected over the years rather than the dragons I was stuck with for 1 1/2 years now and it made me happy the dragonriding features are expanding

In a way i kinda want they do in cata again. Even in 76 i like the idea of updates or even expansions that changes up the main world map. U know let the world evolve? Build up places, some get destroyed, like maybe the scarlet crusade have a… crusade? Raging the lands killing of the fake believers and undead lovers! The undead come back cause of whatever reason of not having a lich king, having a new leader that directs the raging undead but kinda fails to control like the lich king did. Or u can do ofc the void attacks or whatever color themed enemie from space that comes to bother us. Or even gnomes and some goblins work together doing an experiment but goes horribly wrong infecting azaroth with something cause for whatever reason people do things in that world. Like a 28 days later thing XD. Ofcourse u have ur naga invasion from umm… forgot her name right now. but A reason to play the main lands again and see what changed. Cause rn everything just stays the same and is kinda ruining it for new players.( and just kinda sucks imo) Im for just ditching the old for the new. U can keep ur chromie time stuff for other world or maybe places to do again. Having fun world events like eso and f76 have for that themed expansion in eso case. Challenging ofc but give nice rewards. Cause rn just adding more and more land u NEVER come back to just bloats the game.

Would rather watch paint dry. Same boring gameplay that all Ion expansions have while leveling, because all he cares about is endgame and his echochamber of mythic raiders from a esport that failed a decade ago. Creatively bankrupt cut and paste zones, awful characters, another reskin race no one cares about, delves look like they were aesthetically designed by AI. Character writing will be as cringe as the last expansion and be no different than watching a Disney show that kids don't even watch.
WoW is made for 3 demographics. 1) Slaves who sell MT carries to 2) Mobile gamers who pay to win so they can engage in things like casual pvp. These people quit a few months in. 3) Solo gamer mount and pet collectors who usually have trash laptops who can't play triple A games. They don't know how bad the story and graphics are in WoW because they haven't played anything else since 2004.

I wouldn't say Dragonflight's quest progression is "A nice little blend of action and storytelling"
I have 86 screencaps of "Objective: Wait and watch something happen until you can progress" objectives, and have autistically timed them all, there is 1 hour and 38 minutes of just standing there in Dragonflight's story quest progression. They didn't blend the storytelling with the action, they just keep forcing you to sit down and watch an unskippable cutscene. In fact, before being patched, you had to wait 1-15 minutes for the boat that brings you to Dragonflight, and then 6 minutes of unskippable RP dialogue before the first quest to even fight something.
Based on what they said and what I've been able to see so far, it does feel like the main "hook" this time is the actual work that's being done to fix things. Warbands we "wanted", but it mostly sounded like (on the Deep Dive Panel at Bcon) it's a side-product of Blizzard completely refurbishing some of that old inherited tech from ye olden days of WoW for these things to even work. I'd assume it's not any different. They are finally future-proofing the Game and if that in itself isn't a hook, I think the only significant thing TWW has going for it in that sense is or it rather feels like Blizzard is banking on, is that it's the start of the Saga. It doesn't try to fundamentally change the Gameplay loop other than adding Delves for more Endgame-oriented true Solo-Play.
All in all, this all makes a whole lot of sense to me at least, as that is both what it very blatantly feels like and is supported by what they've said. Apparently the Midnight and Last Titan features are supposed to be huge, mindblowing stuff that's being planned and I wouldn't be surprised to realize that most of their features budget for TWW went into Hero Talents and Tuning and Balancing all of that noise for.. what? Over 30 Speccs by now? And the remainder of big feature-type stuff is for the middle and end of this Saga.
imo "new features" is what got us azerite armour and shadowlands covenants. We don't need NeW fEaTuReS, we need a good game, where you play to have fun. Dragonflight was a great step in that direction, hopefully they can make the story more interesting and less "character monologues for 10 minutes and explains the entire story."
Legion was the one good example of a 'new feature' actually working, and the main part wasn't even the artifact weapons themselves, it was all the class fantasy and campaign that went along with them.
Make a good game and they will come. Hopefully blizzard has finally learned that.
The only way delves are gonna be good is if Blizzard designed a few dozen of them. They shouldn't feel like a procedural ai generated instance like Torgast did, as it felt stale very fast. These should be singleplayer or up to 5 men dungeon-like instances with each having an intentional design. If it feels like another procedurally-generated chore players are forced into doing in order to stay relevant, this expansion will be yet another failed retail expansion.
Alpha is going weekly with each week focusing on different zones. That's why you were put into seemingly random place and level.
Beta should be more representative of actual "release candidate" gameplay so to speak.
They just need fresh new people at Blizz with new ideas, they are just doing Rinse and Repeat with small tweaks here and there! Just like the Hero talents with one new skill with a bunch of passive crap stats.
At one point we we're like, it's okay, we're blasting enemies because this is low level. But now, the current expansion combat is also boring because you still feel like a god between mortals when playing lol
