Better Call Mike here :) Thanks for reviewing my website. Yeah, the whole reference is to Better Call Saul, but I think he was a good lawyer lol I did some research before I dediced to go for that name, lawyers do actually have a good opinion on Saul and the whole series hahaha I get it that not all lawyers will aprove "the lack of seriousness", but I can live with that 😀 Cheers 🍻
I actually had a different design for the website, but at the end I changed it because I thought it would really look like I'm affiliated with BCS hahaha I wanted to keep the reference and to try to look serious at the same time 😂😂😂@@theartworkhub
Wow, when clicking on the video I doubted about the quality of advices we'll have because of this very short time review limitation. But actually, the fact that it is short show the mindset to have when doing the website to make our information clear and concise for any recruters. Great concept, can't wait to watch the other video of this serie
It feels like you're relying on your own personal tastes too much. The whole "hiring managers like small text" thing. Also Ozge's pixelated image - you went straight to it and started interacting with it. Pretty sure it did its job!
The effect of scrolling images at 5:41, what is it called? And how can it be done? :) Can anybody give me a bit of help or explanation there? :) Thank you in advance!
Shilume here. Love the feedback🔥 Exactly what I need for desert this dinner. The site is actually a kind of an experiment as my initial draft is a normal scrollable page, I really want to try responsive without the luxury of vertical space and sure as hell, it was difficult 😂. Probably gonna re-design in a couple months.
How the heck do you prevent orphans in webdesign? Is there a CSS property to prevent that? There is text-wrap: balance, but that's for headings. It's also not Indesign, but webdesign and responsive, resize your window and the orphan is gone.
Designers if you feel like ran doesn't like your portfolio while you follow design essentials dont bother because hiring managers/ people has different taste in terms of design so maybe it wont work for ran but other people hire you because they love it
hi great video! maybe abit random question but i would like to know what laptop you suggest buying for web design besides for a pc that i have... mac? or windows? what are the most importand features that a laptop should have ? thanks in advance
I think Ozge did the pixelated image to imply she understands lazy-loading. At least that's what I would use it for. Not sure if she does or if she meant it that way though.
Nice reviews and constructive feedback. Just a little nit pick. I don't know whether you've watched Better Call Saul - but he was a great lawyer - out of the box thinking. It's just that he dealt with dodgy cases and was borderline dodgy himself ; ) Great show though - highly recommended.
Of course not, however - seen the "mac vs pc" ad? Apple have been working for years to create a brand that professionals / creative people use Apple devices. Using what's already in people's mind is helpful. This is psychology not "the truth"
Same question here immediately when I heard that?! Is he partnered with WebFlow and is that maybe the reason? Framer is perfectly fine for a portfolio website aside from other platforms, I'd say ...

Great reviewing skills. In my opinion, I do not like those animated circular text buttons/cursors - they are so distracting an not an effective call to action.
Amazing video, A friend of mine referred me to a financial adviser sometime ago and we got talking about investment and money. I started investing with $120k and in the first 2 months , my portfolio was reading $274,800. Crazy right!, I decided to reinvest my profit and gets more interesting. For over a year we have been working together making consistent profit just bought my second home 2 weeks ago and care for my family...
@rachealhubert74 Quitting may not be the best approach if you ask me. This is where an AI comes into the picture. I barely have time to trade myself as my job swallows up most of my time. Bridget Mary Turow, a licensed fiduciary whom has made me over 5 figures in profit in less than seven months, handles my investments. I could leave you a lead if you need help.

Saul was a really good lawyer indeed! :) I like the reference so much! It made me laugh and it makes the website memorable.
Thank you very much :)@@katalinnemeth6402
This is a really great idea ! You could have added the "funky style" typography and colors for get a perfect reference, but good job :) !
This was so good and educative to watch. Helped me understand the dos and don’ts of a portfolio. I hope we get more
Love this series! I hope there is a part 3 :)
Ran, I hope that you and your family are safe and well!
"He's got a mac , he's already trusthworthy " 💀

I was so relieved to see you posting on X. I can't imagine what you must be going through but you're in my thoughts and prayers. Be safe.

Yes, like the Steffen one, the small orange heading never looked neat. Portfolio was dope though.
The effect of scrolling images at 5:41, what is it called? And how can it be done? :) Can anybody give me a bit of help or explanation there? :) Thank you in advance!
I'd love to know too haha
pls, do more series review portfolios like this. I love it so much
I actually really like Ozge's photo interaction for her headshot. It makes me want to hover on it and reveal/see who she is.
Thunder Clap and Ozge Kelles 💜💕

My portfolio is similar to yours, just click click. Need to change it now. 😂
Great reviews! You are also bring it in a really nice way, very gentle.

There is text-wrap: balance, but that's for headings.
It's also not Indesign, but webdesign and responsive, resize your window and the orphan is gone.
Would be nice to know how these websites were made, Webflow, Wix, React, etc.

Hi Ran. What camera did you use to film this video?
This is very helpful and educational.
more please!
how do you remove the "made in framer" as a free account?
It's for a homework.
Would it be okay if I create my portfolio in Notion?
Sure, whatever works
@@FluxAcademy Can you suggest three websites where I can create a great portfolio without needing to do development work?
These videos are great Ran i learn a lot and they get to the do's and don't fast Thank you
Yes main problem is designers design for themselves NOT for clients
Love these videos 👍👍
Great work Axel - don't let me be an asshole 🤣
where i can see these portfolio websites
Saul is the best lawyer in television

3:50 he's got a mac already trust worthy, people who uses windows arent trust worthy?
Of course not, however - seen the "mac vs pc" ad? Apple have been working for years to create a brand that professionals / creative people use Apple devices. Using what's already in people's mind is helpful. This is psychology not "the truth"
Content and all are cool, but "He's got a Mac, already trustworthy." has to be the most ridiculous sentence I've ever heard so far. 😆😂
Why are you against Framer?
Same question here immediately when I heard that?! Is he partnered with WebFlow and is that maybe the reason? Framer is perfectly fine for a portfolio website aside from other platforms, I'd say ...
Hope you and the family are staying safe.
Ashwin ❤❤❤
Links??
"she looks like criminal" I laughed a lot with this
Please make a website for the examination
He got Mac, already trustworthy 💀
Praying for your family, Ran.
No prayers for the Palestinians who are being bombed rn ?
